Answer
If heavy overclocking is to be done, which is the case here, liquid cooling is NECESSARY. Air cooling may be sufficient to achieve stability, but liquid cooling will dramatically increase the life of the components.

How faster becomes a PC with a liquid cooling system ?

Mema

Lets suppose I have a computer turned on for 20 minutes. And it gives me some performance.
Then by magic a liquid cooling system is installed , will the frecuencies of the pc be 10%, 20%, 90% higher ? ? ? ? ? Or what ?.
OK so tell me How slower becomes a PC when it gets hot ?

Answer
In a gaming rig it really doe help alot especially with pc parts like a inter core i7 cpu and graphics like .. 780 ti water cooling with help about 30-40% better than fans .. But it comes with a price tag so ONLY ONLYYYYY get water cooling if you have serious expensive parts .. Because £700 for watercooling for a mid range pc is not worth it .. Regards .. Matt

what is the best laptop under 1000$ for 2013 ?

Ahmed

Hello !!

I would like to know what is the best laptop under 1000$

I need a laptop mostly for College using like gaming , browsing and using Photoshop cs6 .
I need it to run BF , crysis , GTA IV .... ETC

about the specs

HDD: not less than 640~750 GB
RAM : not less than 6GB
Screen : not less than 15.6
Have a backlit keyboard
Display : Anything that works great will be fine :) i don't care if it's 1080p or 720p

Stuffs that is really important for me :
High build
Good battery life : i really don't want it to be like 1~2h , like min 3~4h is great :D

I don't really mind running some games in mid or even low , well if it runs great without lag , then that's all i need , beside most of the games still looks good even in low .

What i do really care is it to have low issues , high performance and to last long .

Thank you .

Answer
I would go with ASUS or HP. ASUS has the best warranty when it comes to laptops. Some of their models come with a two year warranty with a one year accidental warranty. HP can give you a reliable best bang for the buck laptops or they can give you give you a superior system if you step up in their high end systems. One of the ASUS is above your price point but it can play all the games you want.

ASUS laptop.

Brand buying advise

You get what you pay for. Systems with high end parts with low prices are to be viewed with suspicion. They have to cut corners somewhere to get the price down. What cost you less today is going to cost you more tomorrow.

Apple makes a good quality laptop. The problem comes when it requires service or minor upgrades. It is near impossible to do anything with them. They even glue the battery and hard drive down so you can not change it. They solder the ram to the logic board so you can not increase it. They lock up most of the software so your stuck with what they approve.

Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. The last and final thing to remember about them is they are a Chinese Government own company. It is up to you if you want to trust them.

Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony should be avoided because of their heavy modification of Windows and the drivers. If you remove some of the bloat they install, you can cripple the system.

Acer, Gateway, and eMachines should be avoided period. Low end system that are driving the race to the bottom.

Dell once made a good system and fell from grace. They are now struggling to regain their place in the market. Customer service is one of many problems with this company.

Alienware are glorified Dells and are more name then product. Priced extremely high for what you get. They do perform but you can get the same for less by looking around, just not packaged to be eye candy to the gamers.

Samsung has a history of using cheap parts in critical areas. Capacitors has been one area Samsung has a known history of going cheap, causing units to fail early. For that reason I would avoid them.

ASUS and HP do not modify Windows as bad as the other manufacturers. They have excellent build quality. They might add a lot of bloat but they also makes it easy to get rid of it.

Ultrabooks are the higher end of Wintel laptops but they have some of the same concerns as Apple. They make it next to impossible to change any hardware in them. Service of them will have to be done by the manufacturers. With most of them, you can not change your own battery or hard drive. They are designed to catch your eye but they are not any more special then other laptops except for the fact that they are slim or thin. Your paying for it being thin and slim. For the money your going to spend on it you can buy a much better laptop with more power.

Hybrids are the worse of the worse. The flip or detachable touch screens are just a disaster waiting to happen.

Never buy an All In One. They are far worst then laptops of any kind to service and they have a higher failure rate.

Choose wisely.

So I wanna spend about 450 euro MAX on a pc
This what I have thought of

Intel core i3 2100=120 euro
HD 7750=100-110 euro
4 GB RAM kingston= 50 euro

270 euro on this + 120 more on all the other componets (Mobo,disks,keyboard,mouse,500 GB hard drive etc)

This is made from scratch so I am not going for the i5 2500k or a high end card, ill most likely make a 150 euro ugrabe in next 2013 christmas (I guess)

SO is this a good build that will run games like bf3 at medium/high at 50+ fps? Any changes/advices?

Answer
Do not know what the conversion is here in the states, but I think I would get more ram, all you can afford. 8Gb min, be advised that you can only go to 16 under windows home, you will need professional to go the 32 GB which is what i have. While the i3 is a good choice, you can go to AMD 6 core for about the same price which has better performance. All mother boards are not equal , check all specs before.

Best Gaming desktop for 700 dollars?

I love upgradability, and this is aimed at it. You might be able to squeeze in a 2nd gen core i5 by cutting back on other components, but preference is for as much balance as possible.
As this stands, CPU can be upgraded to i5-3570K with an aftermarket CPU cooler and overclocking.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html
The motherboard can accept a second GPU
The power supply is strong. This can take a 30GB SSD for Intel SRT HDD acceleration.
The case and MB are USB 3.0 and the motherboard has SATA III and PCIe 3.0.
Ready for the upgrades.
Base Total: $734.42
Promo Discounts: -$5.00
Mail-in Rebates: -$45.00
Total: $684.42
Adding, P8Z77-M is 1 PCI Express 3.0 x16 and 1 PCI Express 2.0 @x4
Wireless not considered a standard need in a desktop. Hardwired ethernet runs much better.
Price of the other answer with the links:
8z77=$129.78, Thermal $4.95, wireless $15, PSU $100, RAM $43, PowerColor AMD Radeon HD 7770 $125, Win 7 $100, External USB 3.0 500GB HDD? $80, DVDRW $18, CPU $185 = $800 and excludes the case to hold it all. That is $850; not $700!

Build a Budget Gaming PC?

Parker

I'm hoping to build a new Gaming Computer by the end of the 2013 year. Currently, I'm either playing the Xbox 360, or playing on a crappy Intel Celeron B820. Obviously, that laptop isn't meant for gaming. I want something that can handle games like The Elder Scrolls on medium-high settings with a solid framerate. (Definitely want to play the upcoming ESO on the top settings on the new rig)

I will be building my own PC to save the money (and put it towards better parts). So the first question is: is newegg.com really the place to go? It seems that in every forum I have gone to, newegg is mentioned at least 5 times.

The real question here is this: what parts are the best bang for the buck for a budget of around $800?
And if it's worth it to pay extra, be sure to put that in your answer. Just let me know how much of a difference an extra $50+ would make to the overall machine.

So if you could, go ahead and name all the parts (cpu, gpu, motherboard, case, an on for every single thing I will need) for that price range. Also, I would appreciate if you could say how much of an upgrade one thing is to another (4GB of RAM compared to 8GB, etc)

Lastly, I've heard people saying that dual-core processors wont be able to run games in the future...so how long will the parts I get last in your opinions.

And of course, the true PC test..."Will it run Crysis 3?"

Thanks so much everyone. Yahoo Answers is truly the best!

Answer
Ok, because of the variety of options I will just give a run down without going through and picking every part out for you to give you a understanding. Newegg is a good place to go along with Amazon. I have prime on Amazon, so I purchase almost everything on Amazon. If your mainly using the build for gaming look to spend more money on a graphics card. I have a 660 Ti and it runs Crysis 3 well along with Battlefield 3. I never played The Elder Scrolls, but you could look up benchmarks. I would stick with 8GB RAM, no more is really needed, you probably won't even use 8GB. For the CPU go with like a 3570K or something similar. With Haswell releasing, maybe come back to it since your not building until the end of the year. I'm not sure what your question is about "how much of an upgrade one thing is to another"... I mean, 4GB compared to 8GB, there is a upgrade, it's double the RAM. Hopefully this gave you an idea to think about, I'm sure new stuff (such as haswell) will release around June, but email me with any questions!

this is the best pre built gaming PC that you can get for that budget, this build is an entry level gaming PC that can still let you play all games decently on mid-high settings on a lower but decent 1360 x 768 resolution monitor (18.5 inch monitor).

Help with $600 gaming pc budget build?

guberman

So I want to build myself a new computer and my budget is at $600 that is with a monitor, keyboard and mouse and without the OS. It is kind of a low budget but I would like to be able to play games such as guild wars 2, the cod series, portal 2 and other steam games. This is what I have so far but I really need to drop the price to at most $600.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bH2R

Answer
You're way overpowered on the graphics card (which your PSU can't support anyway)

The Radeon HD 6870 is powerful enough to play games like Battlefield 3 and Crysis on high settings at 1080p. That's overkill for Steam Games, CoD:Black Ops and GW2. For those, you'd be fine with a $100 card like the Radeon HD 7750.

Besides, the HD 6870 requires a minimun 500 watt power supply that provides dual 6-pin connectors. The Corsair 430W is too weak and only provides a single 6-pin connector.

Finally, for budget builds you should go with a 1600x900 monitor instead of a 1920x1080 model. The lower resolution screen allows entry-level and low-midrange graphics cards to perform much better.

I recommend going with this PSU (enough for future upgrades):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027And this card:

This card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127687

And this monitor:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009314

With that graphics card you can still play BF3 on high settings with good fps. Portal 2, WoW, GW2 etc would be a piece of cake:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/5541/amd-radeon-hd-7750-radeon-hd-7770-ghz-edition-review/16

If you dropped down to a Radeon HD 7750, the Corsair 430W PSU you originally selected would be enough in the PSU department.

You could also upgrade to 1600Mhz RAM. The actual difference in real-world performance would be marginal (only a 3-4% boost) but it's cheap!

5850 toxic x2**
27 inch 5ms 1080p lcd samsung
Razer mouse
etc.

or new xbox 250gb at $300 + $350 27inch display in my room, and 52" Bravia XBR I'l use when dad leaves the country for a business trip lol)

BASICALLY, what are the Pros and Cons, and what determines my decision, I do not like to blow this much cash on a PC but my problem is I DO. lol

Answer
I was in a similar situation like you until last year. I was a long time pc gamer, always thought why spend money on xbox. But at the same time I couldn't always upgrade my pc hardware.. many games now demands high end systems. During last christmas I saw xbox was getting cheaper. I paid AU$199 for the arcade console here. and it's a funny story that they had just sold the bundled games to someone 5 minutes ago. Those games were basically really kids games. So they gave me an option to choose any other game as a part of my bundle (they were giving two games for free). I looked at the game rack and went happy crazy inside my mind when I realised why not ask for the newest and most expensive game. I asked 'Is it okay if I get Assassins Creed II? and he said 'I'll see what I can do' And I got Assassins Creed II and Resident Evil 5 for free! LoL. And as I calculated my cost of always upgrading the pc hardware, I realised I had spent so much money to keep up with new industry standards.. because the system requirements for games is constantly going up. I recommend you go with Xbox. I live in Australia, but at the most you'll pay US$299 for new Xbox.check gamestop website.

Pros: new Xbox is a powerful system. You won't have to ever worry about upgrading to new processor or new graphic cards. The console graphics look stunning. And there are always games on sales. Unlike playstation 3, xbox is compatible with old xbox games too. If you wait a little, new game prices usually go down. or you could just rent a game for much cheaper. You will have to pay $5/month for Xbox Live to play online multiplayer, but there's so much more to it.. you can access facebook, twitter, from the consoles; rent movies instantly. they play instantly as you hit play button. Plus in US they announced ESPN sports on xbox without paying extra. In australia we'll have FOXTEL/ all tv channels on the console. The online gaming on XBOX Live is far far better than playstation 3. Plus you'll have a huge Xbox Live games library. Plus motion-control Kinect is coming to Xbox for non hardcore gamers, but I hope it will evolve towards hardcore games too.

Cons: The rrod was the only major issue in the past. But since Jasper chipsets, and new ones, I can't think of any. hmm. Ok. one thing missing is the Blu-Ray player. That's because microsoft believes in on-demand digital content rather than physical discs. And honestly, it's primarily a gaming console. Blu-rays movies are still bit expensive and DVDs are not going anywhere for atleast next few years. It could be a discussion, but as a gaming console, I happy with it. So game addiction could be problem. LoL.

Go ahead with Xbox 360 :P

Here is some more information on the New Xbox 360:

It is unofficially called Xbox 360 'Slim'. Although it is labelled only as Xbox 360 S. It is 17 percent smaller than the previous Xbox Arcade and Xbox Elite with Jasper Chipset inside. It is far quieter than the previous ones. The disc initially makes some spinning noise, but then it becomes very quiet.

I recommend you always install the games you will play most onto the hard drive; not only the xbox runs quieter, but you will also increase the life of your disc by preventing the scratches as the game will run from the hdd.

And I think the heat and infamous RROD issue is blown out of proportion because the since Xbox has been using the Jasper chipset, the RROD issue has been taken care of. The new xbox has Valhalla Chipset, which consumes less power and actually runs much cooler too. Although the vents for the fan will be a bit hot, the rest of the system will be cool to touch. Some people misinterpret this for an overheated xbox, while that not the case because the fan space is hot because it throwing the hot air outside! In fact the new xbox has an automatic internal mechanism that protects the system from overheating. But a wise thing to do is to keep the xbox in an open area, not a cabinet where there is no ventilation. As long as you take care of your xbox, you'll be a happy gamer :)

One important point is not to move the xbox or dangle it in the air when the disc is spinning inside. There is a sticker on the disc tray 'Do not move when disc n tray'. But some stupid people can't read the sticker in front of their eyes and dangle the xbox in the air, which will damage the disc. I don't see any reason why would anyone be dumb enough do that, unless they're dumb haha.

The design is amazing. Looks great. The graphics are amazing and produce far better textures than compared to other consoles. The xbox game library is vast. And Xbox Live service rocks! I'm not sure about the Kinect yet, but it's targeted at non hardcore gamers anyways. It comes with 250Gb hdd and an built in wifi n adapter, which is the fastest wifi on any console. Plus which means you its affordable as you won't have to buy an expensive external adapter. Everything is built in;)

The Jasper chipset on 2009 onwards is widely believed to have greatly improve the reliability, I am more than hopeful that the new xbox will deliver on that. But overall, it is the best time to get an xbox. These improvements should have been made a long time ago. Finally, it has turned out to be a great upgrade. I'm happy with it and definitely recommend it:)

Cheers;)

Can I make a gaming computer for under 500 dollars?

Justin

I would like to build a good computer that can run games smooth for under 500 dollars. I have someone helping me build it so I just need to buy the parts. I was wondering what parts I can buy and how many fps games will run with the parts.

Answer
The fool above me forgot ram, power supply, and operating software, arguably the most important things.

Oh, and bull shit to his 15 years computer building experience. You don't forget about those things, just don't listen to him.

/sigh

For 500 you really can't build anything that would run games. I'm sorry, but you really can't. If you plan on playing games you will need about a 700-900 dollar budget and with that you can get an entry level PC. If you can't afford that I would really suggest just buying a video game console such as the PS3 or Xbox 360.

With 1000 dollars I can build this;

Intel i3-2130 - 140
Intel H67 mobo - 110
8gb 1333mhz ram - 50
Radeon 6870 - 170
Corsair CX500 psu - 60
WD blue 500gb 7200rpm hard drive - 100
Generic DVD drive - 40
Zalman z9 plus case - 70
Windows 7 64bit OEM - 100

So this will be a well working machine capable of maxing alot of games, with an affordable price tag. Total comes to 840, assuming you have peripherals

pc video game quality...?

i've gotten 3 games for the PC so far (Assassins creed 1 2 and brotherhood) and every time i played them, i've had to lower the quality to nearly the worst it can get, otherwise the game is seriously laggy. i have a really good PC, so is there any way i can fix this? AC revelations is coming out in a week, and i don't want to go through the game like that again...
i don't know the details but there usually isn't anything playing in the background.

my friend said something about how low quality this is the price you pay for not buying an xbox or ps3. i'm okay with that, but if you could change it, that would be awesome

What should i get from 800$ for gaming PC?

Ixery Akay

I mean, what's the processor should i get, the motherboard, RAM, Grphc Card and so on..

Answer
Truth be told $800 is less for a true gaming PC. Now if you want to build a PC in that amount that would do a capable job, I would buy a cheaper PC and then upgrade my self or have the manufacturer of the PC do it. They usually install the upgrades for free so you will only be paying for the part. Try to go for a reputable company that will deliver on the warranty or service and will help you through any problems.

One of the best companies for these reasons is Carbonfrost Systems. You should look at their Surfer Mark III computer. I am listing its features below.

http://www.carbonfrost.com/products/surfer/

* 250 Gigabyte Hard Drive
* 1 GB RAM (up to 8 GB)
* AMD Athlon 64 4000+ Single Core
* 2.4 GHz Processor
* DVD±R Burner 18X
* ASUS AMD Motherboard
* Windows Vista Home Basic
* Starter Package

You should talk to them and upgrade on the RAM to 2 GB if you are playing high end games. Also you should get a cheap video card installed as the integrated video won't do it. But all in all, you should get a pretty good computer for playing games for around $800.

Another great thing about them is that they will overclock their processors in some of the their higher end PC while still keeping them under warranty. But maybe you can get them to do it on yours also but you will have to talk to them.

Good luck on your search.

Help me find a gaming pc for around $800?

Bryler Her

Im looking at buying a pre built gaming pc and dont tell me its cheaper to build one because obviously i know that and i dont know anything about building and id most likely mess up even watching a youtube video but im looking for a gaming pc with a fairly good processor and a graphics card better than an hd 7770 or gtx 650

Answer
I highly recommend building your own pc. It really isn't that hard to do now-a-days, and I enjoy doing it. You can easily figure it out I bet. But if you absolutely insist upon buying a pre-built one, the Alienware x51 costs $699.99.

I really can't go forward with any recommendations as you didn't specify which games you are wanting to play. If you were wanting to play CS:S then I could recommend something with a Pentium 4 and that would be a good processor, but if you were to want to run Crysis then I would have to recommend something else.

Again I highly recommend building your own pc. $800 is a pretty flexible budget and with it you can build a computer that could take on most games, something that a pre-built $800 wouldn't be able to do as well. If not then I would need you to specify the games you are wanting to play.

Gaming PC on a budget?

Guitar-her

I'm looking at buying a new gaming PC on a budget of £500 (about $800). I already have a 20" widescreen monitor and good surround speakers so I just need a base unit with a keyboard/mouse/gamepad. What kind of spec would people recommend such as motherboard, processor, RAM and graphics card? I obviously don't need the best spec just something fairly decent which won't become outdated too quickly.
Thanks.

Answer
Honestly if you want a serious gaming PC, you need to spend more than $800 if you want something that can stand up to the newest games out there. A lot of the newer stuff has some pretty rigorous specs to run them. Mainly the biggest thing you need to look for in a serious gaming machine is a power supply that has enough voltage to handle the power demands for the big video cards and motherboards that can run the games relatively smooth without a lot of jerkiness and lag. If you are serious about gaming, then you might want to consider upping you budget to at least $1,500 or more. My gaming machine is worth nearly $4,000, and was every bit worth the investment.

help building a budget gaming pc?

Andrew

I am planning on building a gaming pc and i'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible. I have found good deals on most of the parts i need, but I am having trouble deciding on processor and graphics card. I have researched the AMD APU's but i'm not sure if it is the right option. I don't plan on playing games on ultra or even high settings but I want something that can get the job done. I would like to keep the combined price of them under $175, but if i have to go a little bit over for alot better performance I will spend a little extra. Any suggestions for what to buy, Thanks!

Answer
Alright lets see here.

-You want a gaming PC. The parts you need are a CPU and a GPU
-Your budget is $175 (maybe $200)

Yeah, your budget is extremely low. I will give you some very bare parts with small performance, but hopefully it will work for you. First though, is a tip. Don't get an APU, completely useless. You are getting a graphics card and that APU will be overheating for no reason. Not at all needed. Get a normal CPU. The problem however, is that APU are obviously cheaper (because they suck) and you would be blowing over half of your budget if not all of it on the CPU alone. If you do that, then there goes your GPU, which would be about $100 anyways. The best thing I can recommend is get an APU, no graphics card, and an aftermarket heatsink. Be warned though, this won't perform as good as other gaming PCs. If you are willing to go over a hundred or 2 more, go ahead and email me and I will help you out. maxers9@yahoo.com.

Good gaming PC for £650(1050 USD)?

Taylor

What is a good gaming PC i can get for around £650? Preferably SLI/Crossfire ready so i can add another graphics card at a later date:)

P.s. idk how to build a PC, so links are appriciated:)

Answer
I realize I answered your other question so I'm editing this answer by adding a 2nd option.

BAREBONE SYSTEM: (No monitor, keyboard, mouse, wifi card, speakers, optical drive, operating system) This is how you configured your other computer, so I'm guessing that it's ok.

http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/AMD_Quad_Core_Configurator/

CoolerMaster Elite 430 Mid-Tower Gaming Case
AMD Phenom⢠II X4 955 Quad-Core CPU
AMD ATHLON64 CERTIFIED CPU FAN & HEATSINK
Asus M4N98TD EVO AM3 NVIDIA nForce 980a SLI Chipset DDR3 ATX motherboard
4GB (2x2GB) PC10666 DDR3/1333mhz Dual Channel Memory
Video Card 1: NVIDIA GeForce GTX460 1GB 16X PCI Express
Video Card 2: NVIDIA GeForce GTX460 1GB 16X PCI Express
Coolermaster 650Watt GX Gaming Power Supply (Click 650w PSUs for the list)
1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16M Cache 7200RPM Hard Drive

£565 ex. VAT
£678.00 in VAT

2nd Option (I had to go slightly over budget):
http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/Cyberpower_Z68_configurator/

CoolerMaster Elite 430 Mid-Tower Gaming Case
Intel® Core⢠i5 2500K Quad Core 3.3GHz (currently gamer's #1 choice for CPU)
INTEL LGA1156 CERTIFIED CPU FAN
Asus P8Z68-V Intel Z68 Chipset DDR3 Motherboard
GeForce GTX 460 1MB
Coolermaster 650Watt GX Gaming Power Supply
1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 SATA-II 3.0Gb/s

£583 ex. VAT
£699.60 in VAT

At stock clocks, the i5-2500k is twice the speed of AMD quad cores, and is even faster than the AMD Phenom 6-core cpus! That's because the design of the Sandy Bridge architecture (i5-2500k) is more efficient. Also, this CPU can be overclocked up to 5GHz+! that's a jump of 50% overclock! Most people will probably be able to over clock to 4.5 GHz (a 33% overclock). On that stock cooler, it'll get to at least 4GHz.

Due to the higher cpu price, it only allows for 1 GTX 460 card, so the other configuration will be faster until you complete the SLI setup.

The motherboard and PSU will be able to support SLI GTX 460s. The Z68 motherboard was actually cheaper than the P67 options. The difference between the Z68 and P67 is that on top of what the P67 can do, the Z68 can utilize the on-cpu-video which will double the speed of encoding video (not very useful) and it's able to utilize SSD drives to write cache, for quick access. So if the computer has to temporarily write on the hard drive, it'll write on the SSD drive so that it'll have quicker access to those files (somewhat useful if you have an SSD drive).

Obviously this system isn't complete. It's more of a work in progress, but the CPU and motherboard are both a good foundation to build your system around. Suggested upgrades would be:
1) 2nd GTX 460 card
2) A nice 24" 1920x1080 LED monitor to really see the visual success of your SLI gaming system.
3) 80GB SSD drive as the new primary drive. This will add even more performance to your computer. Your windows boot times and shut down times will be cut to less than 1/2, programs will load faster (especially programs like Adobe Photoshop or other large programs). Games will load much faster (the days of staring at "Loading..." while loading maps will be over). Copying files, installing programs, unzip/rar, and anything involving the hard drive will be more than twice as fast. And overall, you'll notice a bit more snappiness while using your computer.
4) Noctua NH-D14 heat-sink-fan. This is the best of the best. This cpu cooler works better than the H70 cpu water-coolers. It's huge and some would call it ugly, but it's quiet and cools CPUs lower than any other cooling solution under $200. Reasonably priced at $80, it's a great tool for overclocking.

Help with building a gaming PC?

I have been planning on selling the PS3 to save for a EXCELLANT gaming PC.
I have no idea on what I need to complete the package to have a finished rig.
I dont need it to DO ANYTHING but play games with sound.
Minus Keyboard,Mouse,Monitor,speakers.
Whats everything I need to complete this goal. ?
Also could you tell me what parts I should invest the most $$$ on.

Budget plan = 800-999 $ UsD

Answer
Hi

You will get good gaming PC on the budget of 1000$.

Here are the specifications of great gaming PC

AMD PHENOM BACK EDITION II x4 3.2 ghz :- 100$
Ram :- 4 GB RAM :- 50$
Motherboard :- Any motherboard that supprots PCI-E card will do.
Graphic card :- GTX 295 :- 500$

You might be wondering, why have i choosen graphic card with so high price, but this is the graphic card with the best performance in todays maket. It can easily outperform PS3 or any other consoles in gaming.

This card can play future games till 7-8 years. So no need to worry about gaming. If you truely want highest gaming performance then go for it.

If you want other cheaper cards then GTX 260, Geforce 9800 GTX are also a good option.

$300-350 Budget for gaming PC?

Spencer

Tomorrow I should be getting a paycheck around $300-350, and I want to use all of it to build a pc that can play games such as BF3, Skyrim, Deus Ex:Human Revolution, The Witcher 2, Diablo 3 and many other game alike on graphic settings near upper medium-high with 60fps, the computer I have just wont cut it anymore for gaming.
Whats the best build for my budget? Is $350 enough of a budget to build a PC strong enough to run those types of games near high at 60~ fps? If not, what kind of budget am I looking at? Thanks.
Im not looking for ULTRA settings or 120fps.
Medium to high with 45-60 fps is all I need, and I already have a decent gfx card.

Answer
of the mentioned games BF3 is the most demanding, so i put together a setup good enough to play it on medium-high

cpu: Intel i3-2120 LGA 1155 ($125)
mobo: Biostar H61 LGA 1155 ($50)
ram: G.Skill 2x2GB DDR3 1333 ($25)
hdd: Samsung F3 500GB ($80)
odd: LG DVD burner ($20)
psu: Cooler Master GX 450W 80Plus Bronze ($45)
case: Antec Gaming Series One ($50)
gpu: assuming you have something in the range of the GeForce GTX 550 Ti ($000)
total $395 (prices taken from newegg.com)

this is without OS, monitor, speakers, keyboard & mouse

Building a gaming pc on a budget?

drakenkaon

Hallo guys

i have no experience in building computers, but i want a better pc now, so i thought of building one. I want to use it mostly for gaming, It needs to be able to run games like starcraft 2 and mass effect 3 on max graphics without lag. Within those specs i want the cheapest system possible. Without sacrificing too much performance of course. Is there good website that offers an up to date build on this? And also a tutorial on how to make this pc? and last but not least: a cheap website in holland/the cheapest website that ships to holland.

Answer
If you're looking to play Starcraft 2 then you'll want a Core i3 2100 or 2120 as your CPU.

Core i3 2120 the best budget gaming processor on the market. And in CPU-intensive titles like SC2, Intel's processors perform significantly better than anything from AMD (even high-end ones).

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/amd-fx-8120-6100-4100_6.html#sect0

Even the Core i5 750 (which is a generation old, and below the performance of a Core i3 2100) beats all of AMD's CPUs when it comes to that specific game:
http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,766589/Starcraft-2-CPU-benchmarks-Intel-on-top-quads-without-performance-benefit/Practice/

I'm not sure about PC merchants in your area (USA here). Ebuyer and Aria are goods source for parts in the UK, you may want to check their shipping restrictions.

http://www.ebuyer.com
http://aria.co.uk

Hopefully someone in Holland will know of some places local or with even better prices.

Here are some good builder's guides:

http://www.hardware-revolution.com/best-budget-gaming-pc-february-2012/
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i5-overclock-performance-gaming,3097.html

In the intro to the Tom's Hardware article, they explain their rationale for going with the Core i5 2400 (which is about $65 more expensive than a Core i3 2120). They were concerned with the Core i3's lackluster performance on multi-threaded benchmarks suite test software, not actual games! The fact is that even 3 months later, the Core i3 is fine even in titles like Battlefield 3 and Skyrim, provided you're playing on high settings or lower.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/battlefield-3-graphics-performance,3063-13.html
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/skyrim-performance-benchmark,3074-9.html

Most games don't utilize more than 2-3 cores anyway. Now don't misunderstand- the Core i5 2400 (or even Core i5 2320) is a much better processor but for gaming it's the GPU that matters most, not your CPU. And when you're on a tight budget you cannot beat the bang/buck of a Core i3 21xx.

Pair that CPU with a Radeon HD 6870 and you'll be in great shape.

Good luck!

HI, so im not sure what your budget is but if its in the range of about 800-1000 check out this link,
http://www.mycustombuild.com/reckless-conservative.html
Its a really solid computer with all the specs you need ( i suggest getting either Option B or D). You say your not ready to build a pc? this site is for people EXACTLY like you they build custom pc's for gaming and they actually do it very well compared to most.
If you can spend a little more check this one out too.

It also can play BF3 but should be able to play it at around ultra instead of maybe medium-high settings! hope this helped and i hope to see you online!!

http://i762.photobucket.com/albums/xx262/buhbewn/untitled2.jpg

Answer
Its not a bad setup, but if you are looking for performance and modern gaming such as Call of Duty and Battlefield, you would probably want to change out your processor or CPU to a quad core. You can build a decent one for under $800 that will play most games at least in 720p with acceptable frames per second.

Here are some easy terms that you will need to know in order to understand how a gaming PC really works:

CPU or Processor- the computer's brain that does calculations in order for your game to run at the required frequency.

RAM or Random Access Memory-memory that is needed to remember and know of the games' save, configuration, maps, location, and statistics.

Hard Disk Drive or HDD-The storage of all the information needed to play the game

GPU or Graphics Processing Unit- This creates the visual from the calculated information to display onto your monitor/screen. This one puts a beating on your machine depending on the game.

PSU or Power Supply Unit-All computer components or hardware need proper voltage in order to run, the PSU regulates the voltage to each individual part.

Cooling or Heatsink/Fan- Your cpu gets hot when playing games and needs to be properly ventilated in order to run under stress. PC games put it to the extreme. Most, in cases, have aluminum fins, copper insulated tubes (to channel the heat to the fins), and a fan to push the air through through it.

Hope this helps. Its not all of what you need, but will get you somewhat familiar with PC components/hardware. For gaming, you will need to focus on these parts listed.

How many games have received a 10 from Game Informer in there Monthly Game Informer Magazine?

Yahoo user

I was looking at the 219 issue (July 2011 issue) and I was looking at some of the reviews from past games and I saw multiple 9's, 9.25's, and 9.5's. I have also seen one 9.75 from a recent issue that was as far back as like issue 214 or more recent. The game was a PC game by the way. I have never seen a game receive a 10 though and I was wondering if a game ever did get a 10/10 from Game Informer. I have heard a Uncharted game received a 10 which I wouldn't be surprised if it did since it is a very great game. Anyways, can you provide some links to prove your answer on what games received a 10/10 from Game Informer and thanks in advanced.

Answer
Yes, the second uncharted received a 10/10; I do not know for sure about the first one. I know all 3 God of War games got a 10/10, and Bioshock got a 10/10, as did Metal Gear Solid 4. Starcraft 2 was also a 10 out of 10. Halo 2 and San Andreas were the only tied 10/10s ever, and GTA4 also got a 10/10. I could not find an organized list, however, so I do not know how many more there are. I do know that a Tony Hawk game was the first 10/10 that they gave, though.
Linked their website with proof of one of the 10/10s.

Build me a Gaming PC under $1000?

Jacob

Can anyone list me parts to build a gaming PC for under $1000. It does not need to include a mouse, keyboard, or monitor becuase I already have those parts, but it does need to include a Antec 1200 ATX Full Tower and the Corsair Hydro H50 Liquid Cooling System.

Answer
Let me start by saying that forcing an Antec 1200 an H50 on a $1000 budget is a bad idea. If you are open to being more reasonable, as you should be, you can get better parts. Don't even bother building a system if you are going to drop 1/4 off your money on a case and CPU cooler. I would use these parts, which I can guarantee will perform better than if you were to use the 1200 and H50-
CPU-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103704&cm_re=630-_-19-103-704-_-Product
Case/Mobo-http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.393386
GPU-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161330&cm_re=5850-_-14-161-330-_-Product
PSU-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341018
HDD-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136074
RAM-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145260
OS-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116754&cm_re=windows_7-_-32-116-754-_-Product
CPU Cooler-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065&cm_re=212%2b-_-35-103-065-_-Product
Optical Drive-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106333

Your subtotal is $948. The CPU cooler, the 212+, performs better than the H50 according to Maximum PC and the case is the same thing as the Antec 1200, just minus one intake and one exhaust. This machine will demolish any game thanks the 5850 and the Athlon II X4 630 is more than enough for the job. The extra $50 will cover shipping.

Build Gaming PC under $1000?

Jean Carlo

Hi everyone, this summer I will be building my first gaming PC. I am currently a console gamer and I will continue to be one after next gen consoles release. I have a budget of $1000(not including monitor)
for the PC. I want it to run all games on ultra settings in 1080p over 60 fps.

What parts should I pick?

I would love this specs for the pc:

Six core processor
8GB RAM
2GB Video Ram
At least 500gb hard drive

Can I get a Gaming PC like this for under a grand?

keeo in mind that this PC will only be used for gaming and web surfing since all my video editing and content creation will be done on my mac. THANKS!

Answer
Intel Core i5 3350P processor - $180
ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard - $135
8 GB 1600 mhz RAM - $45
1 TB 7200 rpm hard drive - $85
Case - $50
Corsair or Antec 550 watt PSU - $65
DVD-R drive - $20
AMD 7950 Radeon video card - $300
Windows 7 x64 bit OS - $100

$980

Will perform better than an AMD 6 core for games. Intel 6 core is out of your price range. Just remember that the "2 GB" of video RAM you want is mostly meaningless, and you cannot judge a video card by how much it has. For example, a 6950 Radeon with 1 GB VRAM will destroy a 6450 with 2 GB. The 7950 Radeon is a great card

PC Games? Ideas?....?

Sagar

I'm bored and its summer time, I want to buy PC games but don't have any ideas which one should I buy. I'm thinking about buying adventure games like Tomb Raider, FPS like Battle field or any racing games. But the thing is my video card isn't good to play 2012 games. Here is my Specs

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5850
2.2 GHz Performance
2.1 GB RAM
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition Service Pack 2 (build 6002), 32-bit
Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
Intel(R) High Definition Audio HDMI

please post 4-5 games
Yes, but I don't have that much money to buy a high power graphics card or ram. My PC can barely play 2012 games Like MW3 or assassin Creed. I want games that were released in 2006-08. I have tried COD4 it works but kinda laggy. Tired NFS undercover works but still laggy. I want a game that runs smooth with out lag. I even tired NFS Most wanted and carbon and it still lags. My other PC with Nvidia 5200 could run some of these games but the computer is borken

Answer
minecraft
COD mw3
gta v
prototype 2
assassins creed 3
hawken - when it is released
max payne 3

if you want to play games like tomb raider then you should upgrade your pc.
i bought my pc from pcworld for 400 euro , it has 8 gb ram, and an intel dual core, this means that most games shouldn't lag and i can play some pretty cool games.

also if you want to play some games on pc YOU NEED TO GET A NEW GRAPHICS CARD, it will help you a lot or you could GET SOME MORE RAM,

i hope this helps, it took me a long time to do all this ^

Which graphics card is best under rs 4500?? please help?

Rishabh Ne

i want to play games like assasin creed 4, nfs most wanted 2012, rivals, FIFA at any settings but just without lag between the games

New PC desktops under $500?

John Marti

I'm thinking about selling my Inspiron 1545 laptop for $300 and want to get a gaming PC.
If you could please provide a link for finding great GAMING PC Desktops, that'll be awesome.
Thanks, community.

Answer
Nice to see all the trolls who have no idea about budget computing.

First, it is possible to build a decent $500 gaming PC (not including monitor). You will have to build it yourself to make it cost effective. You wont be able to just go out and buy one.

Here is a great $500 build that would play most of todays games on decent resolutions and settings, and will easily max out all console ports, including the likes of CoD:BO and NFS : HP.

Includes Athlon II X3, HD5770, 500GB HDD, 4GB RAM and Windows 7.

Recommend gaming PC, AT A RETAIL STORE , less than $400 to play Starcraft 2 (Canada)?

Uni

Okay, I am planning on buying Starcraft 2 ,but I can't due to my crap computer (Windows XP) which is approximately 4 years old and very outdated to play this game. Can someone recommend a good gaming PC in Canada? My bests are Best Buy, Future Shop, and Walmart. I'm on a budget of $400 ( I will have that much money within 4 months or less). I really need a good PC. Please and thanks. No Windows Vista or Mac. Windows XP or 7 only.

Also, don't LIST A WEBSITE! I don't have a paypal account or a credit as of now. So don't bother listing one!
Damn, found out that gaming PCs are a hella-a-lot expensive than desktop computers. You can list desktop computers as well.

Answer
The better the gaming computer is the more expensive it is, and gaming computers can get pretty expensive as much as a used car in some cases.

I suggest you same your money and get something decent at a later point.

Don't worry about the price! ;) i want the absolute best performance, at whatever cost!

Gaming PC Build Help?

Felix

I don't know what to put in my build. All I really need is a decent graphics card, at least 8GB of ram, and good cooling. I also want the build to include the keyboard, mouse, and monitor. my budget is $500.

Answer
Alright. So before I start, I want to know, will you upgrade the contents later? If so, then the most important thing to get and splurge on, is the mother board, as adding on upgrades or parts will become essential.
Second question to you. Do you care about electricity consumption? Why do I ask?

AMD = cheaper but usually runs hotter and uses more electricity. Fast though and cost efficient initially

Intel = pricier, but are reliable, consumes less electricity and if you don't play high graphic games, the integrated graphics in some models are more than enough.

I did some calculations for a friend. If you use your computer often and play for maybe 2 hours a day almost everyday, then after about 3 years, an intel will save you more money than the AMD (similar specs for both models/ tier)

At least 8gb of ram....?

8 gigs is really all you will ever need. I mean, sure I am running 16, but I almost never really need that much. I just have it to complement my other parts and to have a beast machine.

4 to 8 gigs is all you really need these days.

You'll need something around 500W for your PSU (power supply) having an 80+ (bronze/silver/gold) is up to you, it will cost more but in the long run save you money.

GPU, nvidia GTX 650 or a radeon 7770/7750 will basically run anything you play at either on normal or high or even maxed settings

Case is up to you. I like my builds to look nice, so I spend a little more on my cases.
a $500 build will normally be a mid tower case.

Most cases have decent air cooling. I would get an aftermarket cooler for the cpu though and maybe one more fan.

For a monitor, there are plenty of 21" to 23" monitors that go on sale for around $100. If you can't afford it, there are plenty of 19" that go for around $70.

If you don't care for gaming or nice mouses/key boards, there are combo wired and wireless sets that are under $30

So my build in that budget....

AMD phenom II (90ish) or an i3 2100 (100ish)
8 gb ram (your choice of brand) if on sale, around $40
500gb HDD ( i like WD or samsung as my choice in brands) $45-90 depending on how reliable/fast you want it to be. You can opt for a lower capacity one and save some money too.
Cheap power supplies can go for 20-30 dollars, but I wouldn't trust it too much. Go with a reliable brand like antec/ocz/corsair/nzxt/etc. it'll run you around $50-$70
A gtx 650 or Radeon 7750/7770 will run around $130 ish if you can get it for cheap/on sale.
A whatever case will run you around $30 maybe even $20
After market cpu fan on sale will cost around $15
Then a MoBo (make sure to find one that will support all the parts) will run you around $40 if you don't plan on getting a nice one.

Total without a monitor or mouse/keyboard, averaging it out, you're looking at $465.

Optional downgrade GPU: GT640 or 6670 or something a little cheaper will save $50

You'll be at 415 leaving you 85 for your peripherals. 60-70 for a screen and the rest for a basic mouse/keyboard set.

This build is focused more on the power it will have compared to the luxuries like a larger screen or nice keyboard/mouse.

Really most people set a budget of 500 for the tower alone, so this is kinda hard since I don't know what you want to run and at what level. Are you playing casual games? Epic high end graphic games?

With a deal and sale/free shipping you can probably expect the total of the PC itself (no peripherals) to drop down to 375 and splurge the rest on peripherals.

These are estimated prices for the components if they are NEW.

If you have some friends or craiglist some parts, you can probably get some really nice stuff for a heck of a discount.

TigerDirect and NewEgg are my favorite online stores to shop.

Check them out, subscribe to them, and buy parts when they have a good sale/promotion. Tiger direct has a lot of gaming PC combo packs on sale, which is like what I listed above but packaged to a discount. You can basically just add on to that or get a basic one with no GPU and just buy a decent on to go with it.

If you really don't care for company, durability, the look, or sketchiness of the brand, then feel free to downgrade the PSU to a $20 one. Ditch the aftermarket CPU fan and go with the stock fan, they work fine, but your build will run a little warmer. Go cheap with the case $20. Downgrade the GPU to something in the $60-85 range. Maybe downgrade the CPU to a AMD A6 or something ($70 or lower range) and lower your HDD

These are possible downgrades or budget cuts you can do to get a nicer monitor or mouse/keyboard. You may want to do this if you don't have a CD reader and need to buy one/use it.

Oh yeah, this is without any programs. If you want certain programs and an OS, you will need to put some money aside to buy them or find free ones to use like Linux.

Hope this helps

Good luck and have fun.

Need help building a gaming PC for $800?

Shane

I'm building a gaming PC and i have no idea where to start... I need someone who would be willing to email back and forth with me so i know what parts to buy and whatnot... Thank you

Answer
A gaming computer for 800 dollars without the OS, disk drive, internet connections, mouse, keyboard, and monitor will only last you a good 2 years on high settings for a game, after that is up you are going to spend another say 300-400 dollars to keep playing high settings and all of this is Not including the components I listed above. I went on part picker and made the best machine for close to 3,000 without those components, this build would probably last as a top notch for only 6-7 years. It really depends on how hard game publishers push for advanced games elements.

Can I get a good gaming pc for $600-800? What about $800-1000?

Matt

I've played console for a few years and want to make the transition to PC. I'm willing to sell some things (including my xbox) to try and buy parts for a gaming pc. I have no experience with building a PC, however I'm willing to try because I hear I can save a couple hundred dollars compared to purchasing a pre-made computer. My question is can I make a good gaming rig with 600-800 dollars? Will I be able to play Battlefield 3 and similar games on a decent setting and a good frame rate? Or will I need to pay more money? I won't need to buy a gaming mouse and keyboard just yet. Also, I have a TV that runs 1080p, will this work as a monitor? Any advice helps, I'm completely new at this.

Answer
Yes you can. For both budgets. The more you spend, the better your experience will be.

Take a look at this site.
http://gamingrig.blogspot.com/

It has custom gaming builds for $600, $800 and $1000. I'd recommend the $800 or $1000 PC's. Both will offer pretty good performance at 1080p.

Help build a gaming pc!?

Usamah

I wan't a build a gaming pc that will play games on high/ultra high settings. the games i'm looking to play would be battlefield 3, skyrim, gta iv,etc.
I know im asking alot but i would be really grateful for anyone who can help me find the right parts for a nice price (850-900) preferably. leave links to the items in the answer. Thank you :D

Answer
Plan on constructing it yourself? As in purchasing all the parts separately then assembling it with your own 2 hands. But sense you are asking for help on configuration that would hint that you have less experience with such things.
For your budget and your demands out of the system, It would be best to assemble it yourself, or having a friend who knows how assist or do it for you. Having companies to assemble custom configurations for you will cost extra, it will cost even more through companies who actually know what their doing and assemble rigs by hand and ensure near 100% perfection with a guarantee.

But anyways. http://www.newegg.com is one of your best sites for individual computer hardware.
Feel free to brows their store.
Cooler Master HAF is one of the best cases you will find. I has some great stock air flow to ensure your system stays cool, and is a full size tower.
PSU (power supply) - I like Corsair PSUs, and with your needs you will probably only need 650W, won't need much higher, hard to make a effective SLI build under 1k.
As for prossessors stay with Intel, they are a little more expensive, but they are better. You'll want a 2 or 4 core processor. anything over 4 is a complete waste, some would argue that even 4 cores is a waste for gaming rigs. And they are right for strickly gaming rigs, however computers are often used for other things as well, some of which may require more CPU power. The i5-2500K is a common and great option. But you would also do fine with a i3-2100.
RAM - Corsair and Kingston are top brands, shoot for 8GB@1600MHz. You won't ever need more than that for gaming.
GPU - The GPU will be your primary determaning factor for what settings and how well your games will run. 2 major lines of graphics cards, Nvidia GeForce, and ATI Radeon. Nvidia makes them better, and ATI makes them cheaper. (sorry I don't know specifics about Radeon, so I have to leave them out) For what you are wanting I would suggest GeForce GTX 570 2.5GB
And you need a Motherboard to put it all on. and for the processors I had listed you can do great with a Intel Z77.

Thats really all the core components, but you also need things like a hard drive, optics drive, CPU fan or if you go decide you want liquid cooling, and others.

best gaming pc build?

ok i want to find a reasonable gaming pc recipie that will cost me under 900 bucks. i want it to play all of the new games that have come out.

thanks

Answer
The most economic way to do what you require would be to upgrade an already existing PC that has at least a dual-core processor. Then its just a matter of upgrading the RAM, graphics card and power supply. If you require more space to install your games you can also upgrade the hard-drive or just add a secondary hard-drive and set it up as a slave drive (your original drive would be labeled by your PC's BIOS as the master drive).

You'd need to know the current PC's RAM type and frequency and just upgrade to the maximum your motherboard can support (operating system also plays a part in this since 32-bit operating systems can only take advantage of a maximum of 4gb of RAM while 64-bit can handle more). The graphics card would need to use a PCI-Express x16 slot that would most likely already be occupied by the stock graphics card, you'd just need to pop it out and pop the new one right in. The power supply would need to be upgraded to ensure the new gfx card has enough power to display your new games at the desired settings (each card will vary as to the power requirement, but the average power requirement seems to be between 450-500watts).

If you're looking to build one from scratch or customize one online for under $900 you'd be hard pressed to find one in the current market. The Alienware PC's start at $1200 and the laptops start at $999. From scratch you're looking at a processor price tag of about $200-$300, graphics card of at least $250 for a single card that does what you want, operating system starting at $100, motherboard that matches the processor for at least $120, and then you need to add on the cost of the case, hard-drive, RAM, keyboard, optical drive, mouse, monitor etc.

Your best bet is to upgrade an existing PC.

Hope it helps.

Answer
based on the games you listed I won't suggest zombie massacre games (like l4d), BUT I think you'd really really enjoy some or all of these:

highly recommended:
Lego PC games (Lego Harry Potter, Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones etc.) these are entire movie storylines you interact with as Lego people

any Sam & Max game, these are adventure games where you control a dog and psychotic rabbit on "police" investigation stories, they're hilarious.

Mini Ninjas, this is like playing a pixar movie as a game.

maybe recommended:
World Of Goo
Diner Dash (or Spongebob Diner Dash, Cooking Dash, Doggie Dash, Cake Mania)
Plants Vs Zombies
Zoo Tycoon 2
Spore
any The Sims game (The Sims 2, The Sims 3)

>You didn't say what you will be using it for, but I will assume that you don't intend to be a gamer here. To build a gaming desktop you should have about another $50 - $100 available. You will have to go with AMD for now to keep the costs down and the video card won't be that great.

TOTAL COST: $590. 50

Now, this is a nice budget computer. The AMD 965 is still a great cpu! The motherboard had to be microATX in order to keep the cost under control. However, I made sure it takes at least 16 gigs of RAM (I figured 8 gigs for you, more than enough). The video card I picked is a lower end card, but I have read GOOD stuff about this EVGA card, so don't expect to play Crysis 2 on it very well, but for other less demanding games, it probably will be ok. This includes a NICE Rosewell case so it ought to look sharp. I think, overall, it will do you just fine. The AMD 965 in this one comes with a stock cooling fan - another item I had to go with, a stock generic cpu heatsink and fan, and I made sure you have some standard thermal paste in case it doesn't come with the cpu in box.

Best gaming PC for $600?

Here's iBuyPower Gamer Power A955i gaming desktop (without monitor) for around $600 - http://www.amazon.com/iBuyPower-Gamer-Power-A955i-Desktop/dp/B0051U0MKC/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&tag=basebal-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1335826451&sr=1-1
Specs:
- Intel Core i5-2320 Quad-Core Processor
- 4GB RAM
- 1TB 7200rpm Hard Drive
- NVIDIA GeForce GT520 1GB
- Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit)
It has NVIDIA GeForce GT520 1GB graphics card which will play Skyrim, MW3, BF3, Diablo III, etc. on low/medium settings.

Note that, $600 is bit low for high end gaming PC's. You need to spend more than that to play all games at ultra settings, with no lag.
