AMD Athlon X2 7750 2.7ghz oc'd to 3.0ghz
MSI k9n6pgm2-v2 motherboard
Corsair DDR2 XMS2 4GB 800mhz RAM
MSI HD5770 1GB
Cooler Master 550W PSU

I game on a 1280x1024 17" monitor with 2xAA. In the future I can settle for 1024x768. Can this rig last till 2013?

Build a Budget Gaming PC?

I'm hoping to build a new Gaming Computer by the end of the 2013 year. Currently, I'm either playing the Xbox 360, or playing on a crappy Intel Celeron B820. Obviously, that laptop isn't meant for gaming. I want something that can handle games like The Elder Scrolls on medium-high settings with a solid framerate. (Definitely want to play the upcoming ESO on the top settings on the new rig)

I will be building my own PC to save the money (and put it towards better parts). So the first question is: is newegg.com really the place to go? It seems that in every forum I have gone to, newegg is mentioned at least 5 times.

The real question here is this: what parts are the best bang for the buck for a budget of around $800?
And if it's worth it to pay extra, be sure to put that in your answer. Just let me know how much of a difference an extra $50+ would make to the overall machine.

So if you could, go ahead and name all the parts (cpu, gpu, motherboard, case, an on for every single thing I will need) for that price range. Also, I would appreciate if you could say how much of an upgrade one thing is to another (4GB of RAM compared to 8GB, etc)

Lastly, I've heard people saying that dual-core processors wont be able to run games in the future...so how long will the parts I get last in your opinions.

And of course, the true PC test..."Will it run Crysis 3?"

Ok, because of the variety of options I will just give a run down without going through and picking every part out for you to give you a understanding. Newegg is a good place to go along with Amazon. I have prime on Amazon, so I purchase almost everything on Amazon. If your mainly using the build for gaming look to spend more money on a graphics card. I have a 660 Ti and it runs Crysis 3 well along with Battlefield 3. I never played The Elder Scrolls, but you could look up benchmarks. I would stick with 8GB RAM, no more is really needed, you probably won't even use 8GB. For the CPU go with like a 3570K or something similar. With Haswell releasing, maybe come back to it since your not building until the end of the year. I'm not sure what your question is about "how much of an upgrade one thing is to another"... I mean, 4GB compared to 8GB, there is a upgrade, it's double the RAM. Hopefully this gave you an idea to think about, I'm sure new stuff (such as haswell) will release around June, but email me with any questions!

Help with building a PC Gaming Rig.?

I am a beginner to the PC building. I know nothing about the technical terms. I need the best gaming PC i can buy in my budget. My budget is between 600 to 900 dollars. I am just focusing on the computer right now i have a monitor, keyboard, mouse and all the software i just want the computer. I want a good enough build to play the higher end games but at a lower settings, but i want to be able to play the less demanding quality games at higher settings. For example i want to play battlefield 3 at the normal or low settings, but i want to be able to play minecraft or amra 2 at high settings. I tried doing this by researching by myself and i was leaning towards a AMD Phenom II X4 965 processor but i might change to intel given reason. Please help me i have until the beginning of April 2013 but i want to have a rough estimate of how much it will cost and what i need. also any tips or websites for future builds would be helpful.
And all of that is compatible and the gpu and cpu is balanced right so no bottle necking?

Best pc rig for old games?

Hi. I am big fan of old games that we can't play in windows 7. I know some ways to play in win 7 but thats not true for all of them, in fact most of them. I also know about virtual machines, dosbox and such. I don't want any of them because they use software video and graphics sucks. I guess you can say that I don't need good graphics because I play old games. But thats not true. Need For Speed 3 also NFS 4 and NFS 5 and many other games can be played in 1920x1440 resolution(yes, i played higher resolution than full HD of 2013 in 2002, but stupid of me, i sold my crt. god i miss it), There are games like worms, midtown madness and such.
Anyway, I will get a new rig and i want it to be compability with win 98. I ask here because some firms don't make drivers for 98. And hoping for which firms should I buy parts from. I am hoping to use catalyst of amd or equivient of nvidia to boost graphic quality. I do that in my current pc(win 7) with couple of old games that I was able to play in win 7. Since they are old, i easly open full Anti Aliasing and such. It looks good belive me.
And since most the old games only support 4:3 aspect ratio, getting a 1080p monitor is not a question. Higher res you can get is 1280x1024 and it streches up to 1080. So, i am getting a Asus PB278Q which has 2560x1440p. Not solely for old games, i will be using cad and solidworks. But its great or old games! Because i will be able to get 1920x1440 which has more than 2 times of 1024p pixels. And it doesn't strech.
So far plan is good in paper. But i am not sure about other hardware. Should i get intel 2nd gen like 2500k, or newer 3rd gen or even a 4th gen haswell. Newer is the better because i am not only using it for games. I just want it to be ALSO able to play old games. Or any AMD AM3+ like FX8350. And about graphics card, nvidia or amd? I prefer which has better driver support for win 98 and old games. Motherboard is an issue too. Gigabyte says in its am3+ motherboards clearly, that they won't support win 98.
Any kind of thoughts, suggestions and helps appreciated. Thanks...

Well, I don't think you could easily "build" a Windows 98 gaming computer from modern parts. You would have to try a local classifieds site such as Craigslist or Kijiji (that's what I did), or buy one off eBay. eBay vintage PCs are expensive, but you could always buy a Windows 2000 computer and install Windows 98 on it (again, that's what I did). You could also try Freegeek, although it seems like more of a local thing. Check out the link below, it sort of helped me. You can always build it from older parts, too.
I would recommend Windows 98 Second Edition, like in the article below.

Its sure is a good gaming rig, the processor is top notch and the amount and type of RAM is good so you won't face any lag or processing issues ever. Gaming mouse and keyboards are a personal preference but the one with this bundle is quite good and above average.
PSU is enough to power up all the components though i recommend that you go for a 500W or 600W PSU for keeping you future proof and also coz its the life line of all your expensive components so keep it the best you can.
The only thing that problematic here is the graphic card as it a 4GB DDR3 which is only suited for multi-monitor setups and will not give you a very good performance while gaming as a DDR3 memory is slow and can never process all that 4GB of memory in tight and fast situations like gaming and would prove to be a bottle neck for all the other high quality components in your rig so i highly recommend that you go for either of these they are in the same price range as the one that you are planning to buy:
Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7750 1 GB GDDR5
Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 1GB DDR5
If you can extend your budget then do go for:
PowerColor AMD/ATI HD 7750 1 GB GDDR5 or
Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7770 1 GB GDDR5

Other than this you have a very good machine change the GPU and i'll rate it 8/10

I have run it for two months since April 2013.

So far, there are some problems :
1. When booting, it takes a long time about 3-5 minutes, and on the right corner of the screen, it shows B4 code so long, then A2. What do these codes mean ?

2. If I wanna change my speaker to 5.1 channel, can you give some suggestions ?
And 5.1 or 7.1 is better ? What is the difference ? My budget is US$100.

3. My casing is so small, I want to change. Which one is better ?
I want a big 20 cm fan on top and front. Then, side fan for cooling VGA Card.
My budget is around US$50-100.

4. For 3D Monitor, can you give me some recommended types and brands ?
IPS, LED, or LCD and what size ?
(maybe 18.5" if there is a 3D monitor with that size, coz' too large, i don't like)
I want to use the monitor to watch 3D movies and games maybe.
I have tried Red Cyan glasses on current monitor, and it so annoying, the color is so dark (i mean all seems so dark, bad quality).
For Monitor, my budget is US$100-200.

For that money, it's better if you can buy a prebuilt pc because they come with after sales support. And even though you use pcpartpicker to choose your items, some items may not be compatible with each other so you really need to know what you're doing.

I've been considering on buying, or building a computer for me. I am a big gamer and have had all my games on my Inspiron 14R 4010N and well with new games coming out it is behaving like a piece of crap. So this time I want to go with a desktop, will this run all my games and future ones? My types of games are Modern Warfare 2-3, Black Ops II, Battlefield 3, DayZ. Keep looking. You've landed firmly in "eh." AMD Quad-Core FX-4100 processor 3.60GHz and NVIDIA GeForce GT 610. A very low-end CPU paired with the absolute lowest end dedicated card that Nvidia makes. At least the two are a good match. Neither one is good. If $500 is your budget, you're going to be hard-pressed to get anything above .. eh.
