Why are PC and console games so different in price?

best gaming pc hardware 2011 on Try not to drool too much... The GTX 570 has incredible

When a game is released the price of the game for both PC and consoles is almost the same, but after a few months or 1/2 year the PC games' price starts to drop and becomes lower, yet the console price is still high.
Why?

Answer
The reason is because Microsoft and Sony have a great deal of control over devs when it comes to price point, advertising, even development. The PC is a very different beast: unlike the XBOX or PS3, a video game dev does not need to seek the permission of MS or Sony to make a game for the PC, so they are completely free to set a lower price point than on a console. This is why, for example, you have very profitable digital distribution serves such as Steam and Gamers Gate where, as you point out, game prices fall very quickly after release unlike on consoles. The lower pricing on PC games has given the PC an edge in sales over the last few years. For example, in 2011, PC game sales totaled $18.6 billion versus 17.02 billion for consoles.

Another reason is because when you buy a console, MS or Sony are often selling it at a loss, or a very slim profit margin, with the idea of making a profit instead via game sales (sort of like how cell phone companies will give you a phone for free with the idea of making a profit via the service contract). Same thing going on here. In exchange for discounted hardware, you pay a mark-up for software.

What is the best gaming PC I could make under $1200?

I am going to build a new gaming PC. What is the best PC I could make under $1200. Could you please list the parts :)

I do not need the monitor, keyboard, mouse or the operating system. And I also have a 1tb drive already

Answer
Here is a build I made
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=13286769
You can upgrade to a GTX 580 and the PSU to a 750W but that would put you around $50 over budget.

Edit: I really suggest not getting an AMD Bulldozer since they're really not good for gaming and consume a lot of power. Don't be fooled by that "MOAR COARS!" marketing.

Is it possible to have a quiet high end gaming PC?

best quiet gaming pc on Best Gaming PC Stores Online - Gaming PC Specials Images
best quiet gaming pc image

Tommy

I bought a barebones PC from a no name company about 5 years ago and the noise made it impossible to use the computer for anything besides gaming with the volume turned up high to block the noise.

I'm looking into getting a new PC this Christmas and want to get the new Phenom processor. One of the concerns I have is that almost every review I read of the high end gaming computers says that with the additional power comes additional heat and that they're very loud.

Would a water cooled system always be quieter than an air cooled one? How are you supposed to evaluate ahead of time how quiet a system is before you buy it?

Answer
You can make almost anything quiet if you really want to. But it is going to cost.

The noisy components are the fans. Hard drives and optical drives can be noisy, but mainly it is the fans.

Water cooling will get rid of the CPU fan, but the case fan and the power supply fan are still going to be there. There are a lot of people who swear by it, but the idea of mixing water and electronics is too high risk for my taste.

Read the specs, look for the dB ratings of the component/fan. The lower the better. If comparing two fans make sure that they are equivalent. what fan speed is the noise measurement at, how many cubic ft/min? The higher the speed the more air it will move and the cooler your PC will be. But the noisier it will be too.

Make sure that your cables do not block the airflow. Ribbon cables poorly orientated can be a big air dam. That makes the air harder to move an the temperature controlled fans will spin faster to push the air around, making more noise.

Cheap fans are noisy, quiet fans are expensive. But remember that expensive fans are not necessarily quiet.

What brand of computer offers the best value?

best gaming pc value for money image

Kevin

I'm looking to buy a new gaming PC, and want to get the best value for my money possible. If I have ~$1500 to spend, what brand of computer would offer me the most performance for that price (Systemax, iBuyPower, etc.)? Also, what store would sell those computers for the best price (Tiger Direct, Amazon, Micro Center)?
Just FYI, I am looking for a desktop, not a laptop.

Answer
Best value for the dollar is Ibuypower or Cyberpower PC. Those are the best sites for configuring a gaming system, short of building one from scratch yourself.

Of course having it assembled, tested and Windows installed is worth the slightly higher cost. You don't have to deal with the headaches of getting a defective/DOA component and having to exchange it before you can complete your build.

They are carried by Newegg (best prices overall), Tiger Direct (2nd best) and even Walmart carries some models. But unless you're lucky enough to find a system configured exactly the way you want it, I recommend buying directly from their site.

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com
http://www.ibuypower.com

Ordering directly has two major advantages- one, you get exactly the components you want which often isn't possible with the units sold in retail stores. For example, I always want a high-quality power supply like Corsair or Antec in my builds.

The 2nd reason to order directly addresses the one knock against CyberpowerPC and Ibuypower- their default computer cases aren't the highest quality (of course you can pick what you want when ordering direct) and some people get damaged units- reading the reviews it almost always seems to be that computers were dropped or banged around during shipping and arrived with CD drives or video cards knocked loose or broken drive bay doors etc. Probably more the fault of the shipping company than the manufacturer but still, something you have to consider.

When getting it through retail channels, boxes get shipped around more (from the manufacturer to the merchant, then from the merchant to you) with more opportunities to be mishandled at some point.

Alright so I really would like to build my own gaming pc that can run amazing games at little to no lag for under $700. Does anyone have any ideas on what parts I should use (ps I already bought the DVD drive an I still need a monitor, keyboard, and mouse)? Thanks in advance.

Answer
um for under 700 your joking right to even get games to play properly and not go down the dreaded amd path they were good while they lasted but now theres no upgrade option and they use way to much energy

your best bet is this and thats as close as youll get to a gaming pc that you can upgrade more down the road to a i5 later

Matthew

I just bought a new PC and here is the spec:

Processor : Core i7 3770 3.4GHz
HSF : DeepCool GammaXX S40
Motherboard : MSI H77MA-G43
Memory : Dual Channel Visipro 2 x 4 GB PC3-12800 CL11-11-11-29
SSD : Intel SSD 520 Series 120GB
Harddisk : Seagate 2TB SATA III 7200rpm
VGA Card : HIS Radeon HD 7850 IceQ X 2GB GDDR5 256 Bit
PSU : Cooler Master GX EU 550W Bronze 80+
Casing : Simbadda Sim-Q
Monitor : LG LCD L1753S
Speaker : Simbadda CST z100
Headphone : Somic CD-2688MV
Keyboard : Logitech Standard PS/2
Mouse : Gaming Mouse A4Tech XL-747H Blue Spider

OS : Windows 8 Pro 64 Bit (AHCI SATA)

How do you think about my new rig ?
Is it OK ?? Will it future proofs ? If then, how long ?

I have run it for two months since April 2013.

So far, there are some problems :
1. When booting, it takes a long time about 3-5 minutes, and on the right corner of the screen, it shows B4 code so long, then A2. What do these codes mean ?

2. If I wanna change my speaker to 5.1 channel, can you give some suggestions ?
And 5.1 or 7.1 is better ? What is the difference ? My budget is US$100.

3. My casing is so small, I want to change. Which one is better ?
I want a big 20 cm fan on top and front. Then, side fan for cooling VGA Card.
My budget is around US$50-100.

4. For 3D Monitor, can you give me some recommended types and brands ?
IPS, LED, or LCD and what size ?
(maybe 18.5" if there is a 3D monitor with that size, coz' too large, i don't like)
I want to use the monitor to watch 3D movies and games maybe.
I have tried Red Cyan glasses on current monitor, and it so annoying, the color is so dark (i mean all seems so dark, bad quality).
For Monitor, my budget is US$100-200.

I really really need your suggestions.
Hope for your opinions soon.

Thanks.. :)

its awsome...

What is an optimised build configuration for an assembled desktop PC meant for design & illustration?

Khargoshan

Hi,

While I haven't done this before, but with an average understanding of computer peripherals and some help with figuring out hardware, I wish to assemble a desktop PC on a budget of â¹ 50,000-55,000 (Approx. $ 797-877) that will be used for illustration and graphic design. I'm in close proximity of Lamington Road, Mumbai, so sourcing parts should not be a problem.

It would help if you could also suggest a pen-tablet (stylus) for mid to professional level use. I've checked out Wacom & iBall websites for their pen-tablets but cannot decide between the two. How do they compare? Should I compromise somewhere in the budget of the PC build, ditch iBall, and invest in a Wacom model?

Web browsing, Skype/Hangouts telephony, word processing and number crunching, not-so-hardcore gaming are other tasks I'll be using the PC for.

As of 2013, what config. works best for the above purposes?

Answer
This all depends.

If you spoke with a representative from Apple computers, they would insist that you needed one of their products, and most likely the most expensive product they could get you to purchase.

If you spoke to a Linux Aficionado, I'm sure the conversation would quickly devolve into a discussion about which distro of Linux they believed would be best for you, and how you would have to get the free software they believed would be best for you... which wouldn't be what you initially asked them.

In General... the Optimized build for what you describe doesn't really exist. Oh, there are some things you could look for, but even with the budget constraints that you list, it really is all about what you want to buy. Let me explain.

You want to use it for Illustration and Graphic design. You don't even know what pen-tablet you want to use yet. You've only LOOKED at them... you haven't said anything about getting your hands on one... and that is a recipe for disaster. Why? Because you come across like you would purchase the one that got the highest recommendation, and that has NOTHING to do with whether or not *you* will actually like it. If this machine is going to be used to build and work on a career, and that graphics tablet is going to be your bread-and-butter interface to the machine... you had better damn well get your hands on as many different tablets before you purchase one... or start buying different ones so you will have multiples to play with and find the right one. I'll come back to this.

Web browsing. Well, you can do that on a netbook. Don't need much machine there. Come on... you suggest this as part of the criteria, and honestly, you make most of our brains hurt. Why? ANY computer with a connection to the internet can browse the web. You can browse the web with your phone... does that make your phone a viable candidate for taking the place of the machine you want to build?

Skype/Hangouts telephony. So... you need speakers, a mic, and a web cam. Combine that with web browsing, and I think the newest iPod Touch fits your requirements. Oh wait... Word Processing, "number crunching" and not-so-hardcore gaming. Yep. You can do those things as well with an iPod Touch. And yes, you can download one of many apps in the iTunes store that will allow you to draw on the screen of the iPod Touch.

Yes... I realize you were *thinking* of something more powerful than a portable media player you carry in your pocket. Get a Samsung Galaxy phone then. Ok. But seriously now.

I doubt you have seen my point... which is that what you WANT and what you DESCRIBE are two different things.

You need a large monitor. Maybe even two monitors. That way, you can have one dedicated to whatever program you are drawing with, and one for surfing, chatting, etc. These monitors should have a refresh rate of not less than 2ms if you want to do any kind of FPS gaming at all. You say Not-So-hardcore gaming... but we both know that if you don't actually detail the specific games you intend to play, that your phrasing of Not-So-hardcore actually means nothing. I'd also say that you want at least 24" widescreen monitors.

So... what about the rest of the computer? Well... not much really. If we completely ignore your reference to gaming, then you don't need all that much in the Processor department... maybe a quad core 1.8ghz processor http://ark.intel.com/products/72055/ that will Turbo to 2.7ghz. Ok... I suggested that processor because I was thinking of your gaming needs. Unfortunately, you could eat up most of your budget on just that processor AND a motherboard for it... so maybe you should just stick to either a newer core i3 low end processor... or find yourself a nice AMD to stick with. For example, a few years back I found myself a sweet deal on a new machine with cheap parts, but a screaming AMD 1100T (3.3ghz six core, that will turbo to 3.8ghz) at the heart, for only $300 total.

You'll need lots of Ram, especially if you are dealing with RAW images of any size... so when spec'ing motherboards, look to ones that allow you to use at least 16GB. And yes... when you are looking at RAM modules themselves, you will be tempted to buy the most expensive and fastest... only *you* aren't going to need the fastest RAM possible for that motherboard. If you were to play hardcore games, then yes. If you were to be editing HD video for television commercials, then yes. Otherwise, for your needs, static images and illustration, bulk is more important than speed. For what you say you are going to do, you wouldn't see the difference between PC3-6400 and PC3-17000.

Storage. aka.... Hard Drives. The more the Merrier. Heck, you can walk into retail stores and get 3TB for $119 now... and that's not even the cheapest.

Video. Well... you imply that gaming isn't a huge deal, so you don't really need fast/best. You just need good multi-monitor support. NVidia GT640 or a Radeon 6670... although almost all of the 6670's only come with one DVI output... you'd want a card with two DVI connections, even if one is DVI-A and the other is DVI-D

However... once you start pricing out all of that, you find your budget is out the window. So what to do?

Well, you start at places similar to this... that offer deals similar to this. http://www.ascendtech.us/amd-fx-6100-6-core-computer-system_i_dtwfx61004gb1tb.aspx?agent=pricewatch If you want to be able to upgrade to 16gb, then upgrade THAT system with the next motherboard choice (the Ecs A960M-M2 for another $5.99). Not a great motherboard BUT it will allow you to use two 8GB DDR3 memory modules... and those two upgrades (motherboard and memory) bring the total for that machine to $477. You wouldn't want to upgrade the video card at that company (for the $117 they want for the older, low end nVidia G210, you could easily get a much better GT640 somewhere else... for less).

That leave about a third of your budget to get two good 2ms 24" monitors, and your graphics tablet.

You have a lot of research and shopping in your future. Good Luck.

Answer
The fool above me forgot ram, power supply, and operating software, arguably the most important things.

Oh, and bull shit to his 15 years computer building experience. You don't forget about those things, just don't listen to him.

/sigh

For 500 you really can't build anything that would run games. I'm sorry, but you really can't. If you plan on playing games you will need about a 700-900 dollar budget and with that you can get an entry level PC. If you can't afford that I would really suggest just buying a video game console such as the PS3 or Xbox 360.

With 1000 dollars I can build this;

Intel i3-2130 - 140
Intel H67 mobo - 110
8gb 1333mhz ram - 50
Radeon 6870 - 170
Corsair CX500 psu - 60
WD blue 500gb 7200rpm hard drive - 100
Generic DVD drive - 40
Zalman z9 plus case - 70
Windows 7 64bit OEM - 100

So this will be a well working machine capable of maxing alot of games, with an affordable price tag. Total comes to 840, assuming you have peripherals

I dont really know much, can you guys tell me what i need. I will be using a a desktop that im planning to get from a flea market.

Answer
Well welcome to the world of pc building. For building a computer it all depends on your budget, in most cases most of your money will be put into your graphics card and processor. Now say your want a graphics card foe $150 I would get the Radeon 6850, $200 I would get the Radeon 6870, $250 go with the Radeon 7850, $300 go with the Radeon 7870, $350 go with the Radeon 7950, $400 go with the GeForce 670, $450 go with the Radeon 7970 and finally $500 go with the GeForce 680.

What is the best PC and Monitor package i can get for around £500?

Paul G

I really want to get a new computer but there is so much choice out there. It will mainly be used for games, word processing and the internet so I would like one with good specs, graphics, video card etc. I'm a real novice when it comes to this kind of thing. I've seen a Dell 545 in PC World for £499 with a 20" monitor, but don't know if this is good or not. I would love some advice and info as to where i can buy one from. Thanks.

Answer
If that computer is this computer http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-Inspiron-545-Core-2-Quad-Q8200-2-33GHz-8GB-750GB-D_W0QQitemZ150370285091QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDesktop_PCs?hash=item2302c47623&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
it's extremely powerful.
What kind of games do you want to play? Hard core computer games will require more than casual games
When buying computers, a bigger number is better (95% of the time)
Quad Core processors are the fastest, Duo is second (from what I know)
And as for graphics, you'll have to compare what is being offered against what is newest (you can find the latest models on the NVIDIA/Radeon websites)

Answer
You're best to buy a pre-built one, from what I can see these are just templates for parts. If you don't know that an OS is a separate piece of software and that you can't Just transfer it from HDD to HDD then you shouldn't be attempting to build your own.

I am going to be a college student in the fall majoring in Environmental science and have no idea what laptop to get. I am completely clueless about PC's. I want a PC that is under 500$ has a webcam. Pretty much I aam only using it to do papers and read my email. Plus save my around 2000 itunes songs. Please help!
If you can please provide a specific PC model i can check out. No IPAD!

Answer
I would have to go with the iPad you can type your papers using the pages app by Apple, HD Video for crystal clear video calls through Skype, you can even buy a keyboard for it if you want to type on a real keyboard, and with iOS 5 you don't even need a computer to set it up, It also includes an HD screen and starts at 499

The only computers that are under 500 are netbooks. If a regular computer is don't expect it to last long, netbooks have crappy proccesors little ram, and really small screens. a computer under 500 won't last to long traveling across campus with all the hard drive shaking, skypeing on a netbook will be terrible because the crappy processor. but if you only need to read emails and type, a netbook may work. Because you are in college though I'm sure you will get interested in computer games, and watching movies on your laptop, which a netbook is not good for,

http://www.apple.com/macbookair/?cid=wwa-naus-seg-mac10-028&cp=wwa-seg-mac10-notebook&sr=sem

this is a solid computer even though it goes over your budget it is well worth the money and you won't break the hard drive in it due to travel across campus because there is no hard drive, there is a SSD drive which you can shake around all you want and it won't break.

here is another laptop with good ratings its the only laptop that toshiba has that is under 500 it may get the job done i would consider a ram upgrade, it is for kids so it has kid friendly stuff preinstalled you can uninstall that though.

I am in my 30's, but LOVE the YA Trilogies Twilight and The Hunger Games. Are there any books like these that someone older would enjoy too?

Answer
I'll tell you what the series is and then put the books in order. =)

The immortal series by Alyson Noel:

Evermore
Blue Moon
Shadowland
Dark Flame
Night Star
Everlasting (it comes out this June)

The touch series by Laurie Faria Stolarz:

Deadly Little Secret
Deadly Little Lies
Deadly Little Games
Deadly Little Voices (it comes out this november!)

Percy Jackson & the olympian series by Rick Riodan:

The Lightning Thief
The Sea of Monsters
The Titan's Curse
The Battle of the Labyrinth
The Last Olympian

The Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan (read this series AFTER the percy jackson series so you understand it)

The Lost Hero
The Son of Neptune (comes out this fall)

The Riley Bloom Series by Alyson Noel

Radiance
Shimmer
Dreamland (comes out this fall)
Whisper (comes out spring 2012)

The House of Night Series by PC Cast + Kristin Cast

Marked
Betrayed
Chosen
Untamed
Hunted
Tempted
Burned
Awakened

The Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvader:

Shiver
Linger
Forever (comes out this july)

The Kane Chronicals series by Rick Riordan:

The Red Pyramid
The Throne of Fire

these books are AMAZING!

What are some good book series for teens?

Q. Something similar to the Pretty Little Liars series. I'm on the fourth book for that and excited to read the rest. But, I have been reading really quickly so I want to try a new series.

I really need a gaming laptop that can run a lot of games including skyrim on mid to high settings and Ive been trying to research but I get really confused when looking at the specs since I don't really know what they mean. I would also like this laptop to have a full hd screen. Your feedback would really mean a lot to me. Thank you :)

Answer
These are the best I could find. They all don't have discrete video cards, but for under $900 what can you do

Can you connect a gaming pc to wifi without adapter or cords?

Answer
NO and you wouldn't want it to.

For online gaming the two things that are most important are latency and upload speed.

Latency is the delay (ping time) in milliseconds that it takes the signal to travel to the server and back. The lower the number the better, but you'll definitely want a ping time of under 150 ms or you'll have major problems.

Upload speed also plays a factor in updating your player position data to the gaming server. Slow upload speeds can cause your online game to lag. The faster the better, but at least 0.5 Mbps would be my minimum recommendation.

By nature, interference in wireless systems causes problems with smooth, consistent speeds. A direct cable connection is much better than a wireless connection.

You can experience gaming lag from a poor wireless connection between your gaming PC and the router, The best solution would be to use a wired (Ethernet) connection between your PC and the router.

If it is not feasible to run cables you have other options such as powerline network adapters You plug one in by the router and one in the room where you need access and connect them to the devices with standard Ethernet patch cables. http://isp1.us/reviews/netgear-xavb2101-powerline-adapter/

The network signals are transmitted over your existing home electrical wiring which will not be affected by wireless interference.

Good Luck...

What is better to build a gaming PC? AMD quad core or intel quad core?

fishbrains

I was planning on building a gaming PC and i was wondering if I should use a quad core intel processor or a quad core AMD processor, the intel one is Q6600, and the AMD is the Q4 phenom 9550. they are both around the same price, but i was wondering which is better for gaming, I am going to play the lastest games like crysis. Also please explain why your choice is better, best answer gets 10 points.

Answer
Definietely Intel, just look at various PC review sites to see how much the Intel Quad Core's score compared to AMD's

At this time in processor market, Intel are streets ahead of AMD!

So far ever gaming pc I've bought is HUGE and won't fit on my small little desk.

Can anyone suggest a smallish gaming pc with a good graphics card so I can play the latest games.

Answer
I think they still make them... Look for "shoebox PCs" These are small cases that still take full size PC parts. You can buy a kit and build your own, or buy a partially assembled box and choose your own video card, etc.

Otherwise, do what I did - get a little shelf or something and put that alongside your desk so you can put the PC on that.

What website or store can i get a good reliable gaming pc?

Redash

i am planning to buy a gaming pc and i have searched websites like ibuypower, cyberpower, dell, best buy. But what do you guys think?

Answer
If you have the ability and know-how build one and buy the parts online, it is the cheapest way. I built my PC for about $1200 and it would be worth at least $1500 if it was purchased from a place that sells gamer PC's whole.

Answer
AS high as running XP on any platform, and that's HIGH! I mean a computer is like an air conditioner, it stops working once you open Windows!Try the following free softwares to rid yourself of malware:

I prefer Avast, but AVG is just as great.

AVG AntiVirus

Avast Home Antivirus

You may also want some other tools to run and use as well

SpywareBlaster

Spybot S&D

AVG AntiSpyware
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/20/lng/us/tp...

Adaware (Lavasoft)

If you are currently having a problem:

â Download and install AVG. Use it first and see if it finds any viruses or trojans.

First, you need anti-virus software - download, install and update AVG anti-virus (it's free for personal use) - you can find it here - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

Then remove your System Restore points (viruses love to hide in the System Restore files), but be aware that if you do remove your existing Restore Points you will not be able to "roll back" your computer to a previous configuration. To find out how to disable System Restore see this page - http://www.pchell.com/virus/systemrestor...

Just to be sure you don't have other malware on your computer I recommend that you download SpyBot Search & Destroy and Adware - both are free spyware/adware detection and removal software.

Next, start the computer in Safe Mode - (as the comptuer is starting up, keep tapping the F8 key on your keyboard until you see a special start-up menu) - more on how to start in Safe Mode here - http://www.microsoft.com/resources/docum...

Using AVG - run a full system virus scan while in Safe Mode

After the viruses have been detected and removed, run SpyBot and AdAware (full system scans) then restart the comptuer, enable System Restore again and enjoy a virus-free computing experience.

If the problems are still there, try using MSCONFIG to help figure out how to manually disable the Trojan from starting up - see more about MSCONFIG here - http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/...........

To help protect against malware you should install a firewall, Zone Alarm works perfectly well and is free â http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/c...

Also, don't forget to keep Windows up-to-date - using Microsoft Windows Update!

After following these instructions go to: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/must-read... they will help you for free, no credit card or personal information needed, and they will analyze Hijack This logs for you, to make sure that your computer is safe. HijackThis helps If persistent spyware is bogging down your computer, you might need HijackThis. The tiny program examines vulnerable or suspect parts of your system, such as browser helper objects and certain types of Registry keys. Pressing the Scan button generates a log of dozens of items, most of which are just customizations. Don't check off an item and hit the Fix checked button unless you're sure it's malware. Clicking Info on selected item tells you why the entry was flagged as suspicious, but not whether it's actually malware. To find that out, search the Web for that item's name or go straight to a forum, such as SpywareInfo or Computer Cops. Saving the log creates a text document you can post to these forums.

The latest version adds powerful tools to the Config window. The process manager and hosts file editor help you excise virulent infections. The unique ADS Spy tool scans for alternate data streams, which some browser hijackers use to hide from spyware removers. The program still installs into whatever directory in which you unzip the file, which can make it hard to locate. HijackThis is a serious tool for any user who needs to root out a serious infestation, but wield it with caution. So, go to the site I gave you above, and they'll help you step by step.
Free registry cleaners:
CCleaner does not specialise in cleaning the registry, it's mostly used to speed up your computer by cleaning up your recycle bin, temp files/internet files, browsing history, application errors, log files and so on.. which frees up some space in your harddisk

I've tried these 10 free cleaners
http://www.regsofts.com/freeware/freereg...
I would recommend the following(click on the webpage and follow):

Free Windows Registry Repair(first one) - rather effective, the first scan i did after about a year showed over 500 problems with the registry, fixed them all

RegSeeker(2nd one) - fixed another 300 problems after using the previous one.

and like the two of them said, Eusing Free Registry Cleaner and Abexo Free Registry Cleaner(30 day trial)

Just run them all that'll fix most problems! But dont expect 100% fixes because programs might recreate registry entries when used and so a second scan might still show the same few errors. (ignore such errors)

those are all freeware, hope i'm of some help

Good Luck!

P.S. First go to: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/defau... Choose full service scan and let it install any active x components

I would like to make a good Gaming PC. Something that could play games such as left 4 dead and at the most one of the newer games(Black Ops at low detail medium detail). I would like the cheapest amount of money spent and i already have a Sapphire Radeon Hd 4850 512mb. Thank you!

But it will run all the games listed.

What is the best possible gaming pc you can build, in your opinion?

Adrian De

im planning on getting a gaming pc and my friend knows how to put them together so just tell what would be the absolute best gaming pc you would put together? like all the parts such as processor, graphics card, etc. money is not a problem :]

Answer
Go to newegg.com, scroll down and click build your own. You can buy a bundle of the best equipment for gaming. You can also browse the whole website, and pick out whatever you want.

I would suggest that you get:

Rosewill Blackhawk Ultra computer tower(computer case). (their fans are good also)

7 or 8 core processor;

2 Tb of hard disk space;

between 8 and 12 Gb of RAM;

600 watt or better power supply;

2 Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 or 590; or Sapphire Radeon HD 6990 4GB;

also I would get some type of liquid cooling for your CPU.

Hope this was helpful.

best gaming pc 1000 dollars image

?

I want to build a gaming pc that can play Crisis on max settings for under 1000 dollars. If i can't play crisis on max settings that is fine but i want the best possible pc for under 1000 dollars. Also could you recommend a good monitor the monitor price is excluded from the desktop price.

Answer
there is a gaming site that does the most power for a gaming pc in a budget. eg $1000 every month.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-a-pc-overclock-components,2725.html
also if you look here it can run crysis on highest settings @
52fps.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-a-pc-overclock-components,2725-6.html

just scroll down and you will see the $1000 build.
if you are not overclocking then dont get the extra cpu cooler. an OS is not included in the price.

as for a monitor, try this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236052&cm_re=monitors_23-_-24-236-052-_-Product

there is over 1200 reviews about it, so its pretty good.
dont forget, the bigger the monitor (resolution) the more pressure on your graphics card.

also here is a good guide for assembly, with pics.

How exactly do you build a gaming rig?

ackee

i got around 1000 dollars trying to build a gaming PC but don't know how can someone help?

Answer
There are sites out there that will build a rig for you.. but if your building it yourself this is what you should keep in mind:

1. make sure you have more than enough hard drive space
2. Lots of RAM
3. A good video card (I have a Nvidia and have had no trouble)
4. speedy processors (sandybridge)
You'll have to decide what kind of cooling you want to use, they have liquid cooling now that works better than fans but is pricey
