I am looking for a decent gaming machine without getting way too costly... I have did a search and PC's change every couple days to a point I am not up enough to make decision. I would like to stay below 1k..... I mainly want to play the upcoming arama 3 and flight simulators..It will be hooked up via HDMI (which is a must) to my living room 62 inch TV... Any advice? I am on Newegg but lost as to what I need?

PC Graphics Card Problem or Just Cheap Card?

Although I know enough to get around, I am far from a computer genious. That is why I had a friend of mine build me a computer that he felt would be acceptable for gaming. Games are working very poorly. Other then the specs (listed below) there are a few factors that may, or may not be relevant.
- According to systemrequirementslab my computer exceeds the reccomnded specs for all games I tested, with the exception of Battlefield 3, where it appears to come far short.
- The games that run extremely lagy (Max Payne 3, Tom Clancy Ghost Recon Future Soilder) seem to run a bit better, sometimes even smoothly after I restart my computer.
- All drivers are up to date, running current DirectX
The guy that built this computer for me says that there must be some problem and says I SHOULD be able to run these games without problems and it is just a matter of ironing something out (probably small) and things will work great. My brother-in-law says that the graphics card is bottom of barrel and likely is connected right and just cant handle these games.
My question is.......who do you think is right? I'm hoping to god after spending over $1k on this computer the answer isnt that the machine cant handle these games.

I'm not super confident that I am computer savy enough to wipe the drivers you are talking about, or re-install windows. But as it stands now it wont run any of these games (Max Payne 3, Dirt Showdown, Tom Clancy Ghost Recon Future Soilder, F.E.A.R.3, Alan Wake American Nightmare) on top settings and only most only get a letter better when settings toned down. Strangely, Portal 2 works completely free of any problems. Is it just a coincidence that AFTER I restart my computer, these games seem to work much better for a period of time?

What's your power supply? It needs to be 500W+ or more.
What are your temperatures? Overheating can cause poor performance. Download a program like SpeedFan and open it when your playing these games and also when you have everything closed (just idling) and look at the temps.
The GTX 560 isn't bottem of the barrel - it's not super high end, but it's still decent. I had a similar card and I was able to get high settings. I would also agree with the above poster that you should try a clean install of Windows and get the GTX 560 drivers from the manufacturers website along with the motherboard drivers (if you know the model).
Any system that cost $1000 should be able run any game at Ultra settings. I'm not sure how you got stuck with a GTX 560, because I know there are builds with for the same price that have 30% better graphics cards and comparable processors.
