best gaming pc on a budget 2013 image

TheVollsta

I got a budget of 27000 Norwegian Kroner which is about 4594 dollars.

I need a PC that's able to play most games at least on high and maybe, but not necessarily Ultra.

I'm new to PC gaming - you know i'm the typical Console boy or whatever.. lol so i dont understand much of the pc language.

BTW, I've been looking to buy the Razer Blade Pro when it comes out, but it seems like they aren't shipping to where i live

--I give best answer--

Thank you for your time!

Answer
For your budget you could get TWO Asus or Alienware (Dell) top machines with good graphics chips. Then you could winter in Majorca or the Canaries with the rest of that budget.

If you want superior graphics, get a ViDock and put a really high end card in it, use an exterior monitor. http://pcgamerhub.com/external-video-card-for-laptop-gaming/
Better is to build your own exterior PSIe-16x slot from a $100 kit from China and a standard desktop power supply for it. http://lifehacker.com/5851902/turn-a-low+powered-laptop-into-a-gaming-machine-with-an-external-video-card-dock

Are these good gaming pc specs for what my son wants?

Christel

I was hoping someone could shed some light on if these gaming pc specs would be good enough for what my son wants to do with it. He's asked for a gaming pc for his graduation gift but we're not exactly made of money so I asked him for a few details on what he hopes to do with his PC gaming wise! (Yes, I have -some- knowledge of gaming and gaming rigs but not much!)

Now he wants to be able to play games such as Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, World of Warcraft, Mass Effect 3, Guild Wars 2 and most of all the upcoming Elder Scrolls Online game on high settings with a smooth framerate. We've spotted a reasonably priced PC that is custom built for 400-500 with the following specs:

AMD FX4100 Quad Core 4x3.6GHz
Asus Motherboard
500GB HDD
8GB DDR3 (1333 MHz)
GeForce GT630 (1024MB DDR3-VGA-DVI-HDMI-DirectX 11)
Windows7 Home Premium 64Bit

My question is of course... will this be sufficient for what he wants? Any reply from those knowledgeable about this kind of stuff would be very much appreciated!

Answer
Yes, it's a reasonable gaming PC, enough to play Skyrim and such games at high detail and a smooth framerate.

The video card is the most important piece when building a gaming PC, and this computer's video card isn't exactly high end (it being a GeForce GT630, a budget video card), but it will be enough to play games such as Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3 and other such games at high detail. Although I find a 500 GB hard-drive more than enough, some people might want a larger 1 TB ( which is 1000 GB) hard drive.

Again, a 500 GB hard drive has no say on how fast he can play games, just the amount of data (such as games, music and videos) he can store in the computer at any given time. I say buy it, but only if you're sure the price is fair.

The video card might be a problem in the near future, (games in 2013 and 2014 will get more resource-intensive) But the video card may be upgraded if absolutely necessary with a newer one for future gaming. Other than that, it looks good.

I am looking into buying a desktop and i need one with about 2.6 gh or more, 512 mb video card, and 3 gb of ram. I also want to downgrade to windows xp. My bugget is about 800 dollars for the desktop, any suggestions? Check out my other question, need help with i. Thanks.

Answer
Phenom 9850 - $205
ATI HD4850 --- $200
ECS A770M-A --$65
2GB G.SKILL RAM --$45
Hitachi 320GB ---$50
HP DVD Burner--$25
Xion Solaris Case--$40
Apevia 500w PS ---$40
Windows XP Home OEM ---$80

You really won't need any more than 2gb of ram, besides the cpu and ESPECIALLY that graphics card will do much more than make up for it. With this system you will get about 25-55 fps in Crysis on High settings which is awesome.

How much is the average american willing to spend on a computer/gaming computer?

best gaming pc in india price on LG T8053AEET5 Price in India - 9.5kg Top Load Washing Machine Features
best gaming pc in india price image

DayDreamer

How much would they spend on average, and can someone tell me why they would in detail?

Answer
Average Americans spend more on getting consoles. But PC is also quite popular for gaming there. They tend to get the best hardware for their gaming computers and do look towards the future.
So hardcore gamers would spend around $1000 for the best gaming PC. But average American would try to get it in $800.
We Indians tend to look at performance as well as price. Price is an important factor here at India. Hardcore gamers would spend around Rs. 50000/- , but average Indians would spend Rs. 30000/- to get the best bang for buck. There are some idiots here who are still buying useless NVIDIA 9400GT and 9500GT just to reduce cost.

Which graphics cards can i get at 7k that supports DirectX 11?

Gaurav

Hi, i need a graphics card for playing games on my PC. I thougt of getting a 9800gt but it supports only DX 10.

So please suggest me a card that is better than 9800gt in all aspects. My budget is 7k and have a PSU of 500W. Thanks

Answer
Get a Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 GDDR5 1GB DirectX 11 Card. It absolutely beats the 9800gt in every aspect and there is no other card in that price range that beats the 5770.

I stay in India, and I have a HD 5770 on my Computer. It costs around Rs.6800.

Here's a comparison between 9800GT and HD 5770.

http://www.hwcompare.com/1193/geforce-9800-gt-1gb-vs-radeon-hd-5770/

Power Supply of 500W is more than enough, Hope this helps :)

I'm looking to start diving into PC gaming. I'm not very smart on computers, nor am I rich. I'm just looking for a good quality computer at a lower price that can run: The Elder Scrolls, Battlefield, Counter Strike, Minecraft, etc. Can anyone think of any computers? Nothing expensive like Alien Ware, at least 700 dollars.

If you want a cheap computer, you're going to have to assemble it yourself.

Basically I'm in the market for a laptop but not too knowledgeable about them.

I want to get the most I can for my money. I'm not a huge gamer, but a decent video card so I can run games like team fortress 2, maybe better quality games.

basically I just want the best i can get for under 1,000$.

any help at all from people who know is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Answer
For around $1000, I would suggest Lenovo Ideapad Y570 - http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Ideapad-08626KU-15-6-Inch-Laptop/dp/B006M9ZVXE/ref=sr_1_28?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=basebal-20&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1328919909&sr=1-28
It's got 2nd generation i7 processor, 8GB RAM, 750GB hard drive and NVIDIA Geforce GT555M Discrete Graphics card
Here's review with video - http://www.laptopreviews.com/lenovo-ideapad-y570-first-look-and-video-2012-02

It will play Team Fortress on highest settings. Plus, Skyrim, Crysis 2, BF3, Farcry 2 and all the latest games. Search for GT555M graphics card on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=GT555M

-pull out mic
-small
-comfortable
-under 200
-good with iPod

Answer
headsets (those headphones with mics) are mostly all horrible.

this will be helpful. seriously read the entire thing if you can, it has improved my gaming experience tremendously. (both for immersion and competitive play)
http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-updated-4-12-2012-akg-q701-added

my suggestion is buy a cheap clip on mic (for like 5 bucks), the audio technica ad700, and the astro mixamp, which utilizes dolby headphones(converts 5.1+ channels into stereo specifically for headphones). These three should cost just a little over 200 combined. it will sound like the video on the link i provided at the 1:08 minute marker.
Reviews of headphones are also on that page. If you're interested in other headphones, make sure you get one with a good soundstage (like the audio technica ad700) to improve your gaming exprience.

if you really like headsets, then this is the best i can think of.
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-PC-360-Headset-Gaming/dp/B003DA4D2U
theres a review on the first link i provided. You could get the lesser models since its 200ish.

Answer
The one you build yourself.....
NEVER buy a gaming computer.

Yahoo answers will only allow up to 10 links, so I have to leave out the not so important components. Just copy paste in the search field on Newegg to find them, I will give the full name but no link for those.

BEST BUDGET GAMING DESKTOP PC BUILD FOR THE MONEY (under $750.00USD for the tower only)
Monitor, keyboard and mouse can add from $175 to over $500, depending on size and model you want.
All prices are in $USD and in the USA, current as of December 2012 and they might be slightly different one way or the other by now.
Also, some shipping charges may apply to some of the items.
Add your state sales tax if you reside in NJ, CA or TN - that's where Newegg has warehouses.
Look for similar parts on Amazon, Tiger Direct, etc if you want to avoid paying Uncle Sam.

How to stop laptop overheating when playing games?

Jake

Helloo. So my problem is that when i play games like dishonored and NFSMW (2012) my computer overheats. Now I have solved this problem by simply putting a fan beside my computer but that extremely inconvinient during winter. I defragged my PC.
Here are my specs.
8GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce 540M
Intel i5 2410M @ 2.3GHZ
Dat enuff infomation?

Answer
Laptop cooling pad, possibly try to blow out dust that builds up, Always on a hard surface rather than a cushion of some sort. If it is an HP, update bios and drivers to the latest levels. The DV6 has a history of overheating.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
Your laptop can handle Dishonored fairly well, but by pressing it to the limit on NFS Most Wanted, it does overheat more. Reducing settings would probably help.

Should I buy a gaming pc in parts or all at once?

best gaming pc for $750 on Build A Gaming PC For $350 - February 2013 | DIY Reviews!
best gaming pc for $750 image

Jose

I'm trying to build a gaming PC that's around $1400.00. I'm on a tight budget so i was thinking i could buy it in parts. This would allow me to splurge a little on better parts. Problem is the return policy is only good for 30 days so if something's broken, I've just got a bunch of expensive paper weights lying around. This is my first time doing this and I'm curious as to how it's normally done. Any suggestions?

Answer
$1400 isn't a "tight" budget for a gaming PC. In fact, I would consider a budget over $1k quite roomy. A common midrange build goes for around $750. The tightest budget gaming build I ever worked on was ~$500.

So with $1400, buy it all at once. There is absolutely no reason to do otherwise.

Here's a ~$1200 build:
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=17385591

Note that there's enough extra budget space to a combo of any of the following:
>SSD, Bigger case, higher end motherboard, water cooling, more RAM, bigger HDD, or better GPU (though the GTX 670 is already the second fastest single-GPU card on the market).

What are the main things you need for a gaming pc?

Edge

I want to build a gaming pc and I need help. I mainly want to know whats required and wants mainly wanted.
I'm kind of on a $450 budget so please keep that in mind. Thanks!

Answer
Number 1 thing I'd look for first is a good graphics card you can go with ATI or Nvidia. Newegg and Tigerdirect usually have good deals on 550 ti or 560 Ti cards which are Nvidia.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125363

Second thing your going to want a decent Cpu i5 or i7 for Intels will do good. Or you could go with Amd they just came out with there 8 core which is the same as Intels i7 but 60-70 $$ cheaper.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103960

Good power supply, I'm not to worried about the brand but get one around 600-750 watts.

Ram go with 1600 or higher. With at least 8gb. I have 12 but never use it all.

Hard Drive go with 7200 rpm or get a solid state drive (SSD) and put your OS on it you will have good boot times and then you can put games or whatever on a different drive.

Motherboard - make sure it's compatible with your cpu if your getting a 8 core/quad core AMD will be AM3+ and intel will be LGA 1155 I believe.

I am looking for the best gaming PC between £500-700 and i would like to know where is a good place to get a good deal. I have looked at a website called Vibox but i am wondering if there are any other websites that offer a wider range of items.

Thanks!

Answer
If you want the best computer for that price, you will have to build your own.
I recommend using newegg.com, which is what I used to build mine.

If you do your research, and get a friend who is good with computers, you can get a much better deal if you build your own instead of ordering a pre-build computer.
Especially if you want to game on it. Pre-built computers have horrible graphics cards.

I'm looking to build a decent gaming PC for 500$ or less. I would like to just have a list of the components, if anyone can do that. Thanks.

Answer
go to newegg.com

find decent AMD processor, find cheapest motherboard for that socket, get cheapest 4gb RAM, cheapest case, get cheap power supply, they have a 630w for 35$, get cheap 7200 rpm hard drive, and dvd drive to load OS unless you have another computer to load the OS on the drive and then plug the drive in and use rest for decent graphics card, like a GTX 470 or 560

Yes I clean my PC, using game booster, and I still using same internet network since I'm playing LoL, my ping used to be around 180-200 but now it's 350 HELP!

Answer
you have 2 choices to fix your ping

1) Get a better Internet Service (FiberOp is great)

2) Make sure no one else is using your internet. Meaning NO ONE in the house is on youtube, news sites, downloading anything, checking Facebook, etc.

If you are not willing to pay for better internet just go and unplug everything else in the house that can access the internet until you are done.

as from the sounds of it you have the high PING due to lack of available bandwidth within your household.

I want to get a gaming pc this june and i am willing to go anything under 3000 dollars (minus tax, shipping ETC.) I want a pc with 2 gtx 680 sli an i7 processor and at least 16 gigs of ram I have looked at company reviews from ibuypowerpc and cyberpowerpc and lots fo people state there computer came assembled or broken and alienware is just a complete rip off. Where are some good places where i could find good gaming desktops?

Answer
First of all, there is no reason to overspend on a PC for games. A Core i5 will play games EXACTLY like an i7 will. No difference for $100 less. Secondly, unless you are running multiple monitors, there is no reason whatsoever to get 2x 680 GTX. Save the $500

Either 8 or 16 GB of RAM will be more than enough. There is no reason at all to get anything higher since it will just sit there wasted and unused, and even 16 GB is pretty much overkill

Any suggestions for a gaming pc or laptop?

Ok so i want gaming pc or laptop, im pretty new to this. Like what's the difference between a pc and laptop for gaming purposes? My budget is about 1000 to 3000, any suggestions? Additional help is appreciated.

All Zombies Must Die! (2011) - is a top-down shooter video game for up to four players. The game was released as a downloadable title for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game consoles and personal computers running the Windows operating system. It is the spiritual successor to Burn Zombie Burn.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (2012) - First-person shooter that was released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. It's a continuation of the zombies mode from Black Ops. New game modes and maps include Green Run, Tranzit, Grief (up to 8 players), Nuketown, Great Leap Forward, Die Rise, and Turned.

DayZ (2012) - This is a PC game. An ARMA 2 mod which features survival horror and shooter gameplay in an open world. The game is online multiplayer. Players must feed their character as well as deal with other players and the living dead.

Dead Island (2011) - is an action role-playing survival horror video game for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is centered on the challenge of surviving a zombie-infested open world island with a major emphasis on melee combat. It is a 4-player coop.

Dead Island: Riptide (2013) - is an action role-playing survival horror video game, also for Windows, PS3 and Xbox 360. The game is a sequel to 2011's Dead Island, with a plot continuation as the five survivors arrive on another island in the Banoi archipelago, which has also been overrun by zombies. This has a 5-player coop.

Dead Nation (2010) - PlayStation Network dual-stick shooter. The game detects players' geographic locations and groups them accordingly within the game world, displaying players' progress in that region. Multiplayer can be done locally or online for two players.

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare (2010) - is the fifth downloadable content (DLC) pack released for Red Dead Redemption. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and for Xbox 360. Undead Nightmare follows the exploits of John Marston, as he searches for a cure for an infectious zombie plague that has swept across the American Old West. Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Collection which does not require the original Red Dead Redemption game to be played. It also has multiplayer, allowing up to four players.

Resident Evil 6 (2012) - is an action-adventure third-person shooter video game and the ninth main installment in the Resident Evil series. It was released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. It has a two player mode.

Resident Evil 5 (2009) - it is also has a two player mode. It's on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows as well.

There's also the Left 4 Dead series which is a cooperative first-person shooter arcade-style video game. It is multiplayer in which four survivors must cooperate to survive a zombie apocalypse. Sadly, it is not available for the PS3. It is only available for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and Mac OS X. I'm suggesting it because if you want to play it, maybe think about playing it on the PC?

Is PC gaming actually more cheaper than consoles or am i wrong?

10R

People say that consoles are cheaper but I dont get that. You buy a console for $400 and you still need a laptop and you add $400 to that as well. That costs $800.

My gaming PC is $600 and its more powerful than next gen consoles and it does better job of doing work tasks and playing games at the same time!

Answer
I completely agree. Not only is it future-proof but it'll save you a great amount of money from buying newer consoles every generation and it is also true you can upgrade any decrepit computer to be able to compete with any new generation console. For a decent PC build it will usually cost around $200-$500 to obtain a decent build, it all depends on which pieces of hardware you are investing in and overtime you can continue to upgrade these components in your computer, something you cannot do with consoles.

In the end,PC gaming will be more cost-effective then console gaming.

Answer
Well, your question caught my eye as it seems that i am in the right position to answer your question right now! My PC is running one 27 inch 2560x1440 monitor with no problems....using a Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Vapor-X 3GB...this goes for around $499(US) . Since you are running an eyefinity setup with 3 monitors this is the smartest choice; the processor is completely adequate as is your RAM.

FINAL WORD: get a Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Vapor-X 3GB, possibly two or three if you have the money, especially if you like having graphics maxed out.

How could I improve my PC performance?

Kevin

I know a bit about computers, but only that. I'm no "computer whiz" by any means. Anyways, to the point! I like to think I have a pretty decent desktop. More than plenty of HD space, graphics are fine, PC speed is fine, I never really have any problems with it. I've had it for a few years, and I'm thinking that could just be the problem. I run Anti-Spyware/ Malware programs monthly and I'm always able to get any kind of harmful programs off, whether minor or serious.

Well, lately I've noticed the performance dropping when playing games. For instance, I was able to play Skyrim just a few months on ago on Ultra settings. Now, I can only play on Low, and even then I get lags and drastically reduced frame rates (Especially when I've played for a good while in one sitting).

Was just wondering what kind of actions or steps I can do to maybe get things back to how they were. I'll post my dxdiag below.

Thanks everyone who replied! That's actually very helpful. I've been under the impression I had "Just enough" RAM. Knew more would help out, but knowing I actually need more is extremely helpful. Again - thank you!

Answer
upgrade your ram. you have a quad core processor. I would recommend 2gigs per core, but atleast 1gig per core. content is getting heavier and take up more resources to compute. also hit control-alt-delete once in a while, select task manager and watch usage on cpu and memory and see what is using up resources and maybe you might want to stop that process before playing games. Good Luck!

Hi, i know it may sound a bit silly, but i am designing my own gaming pc, i want an asus motherboard and i was going to have this 1 http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/P8Z77M/ , but my concerns are that how will i connect it to my wifi because it hasn't got a Wireless LAN antenna jack, so will it just be a case of buying a USB wireless adapter?

Thanks in advance

Answer
As someone else stated, you can get a PCI WIFI card. That being said, only a fool would build a gaming rig and then use a wireless connection to game online. You want the best gaming experience, wire the PC directly to the router.

What's a good list of PC components for building a gaming PC?

Waffle-ato

I want an epic gaming pc, that WON'T break the bank. I'm willing to go upwards around $1500-$2000. I want a total Kick-A$$ gaming pc. I most certainly will not do liquid cooling (i mean with resevoirs, pumps, and all that stuff) Any money you can save me will be great. I don't need a monitor, mouse, headphones, or any of that stuff. I want this focused on parts not peripherals. Links Please :))

Thanks!

Answer
Just make sure you get SSD (I would combine it with SATA so you have both speed for system/programs and storage for data). SSD could seem quite expensive, but if you buy a smaller one, really just for fast system and programs, it shouldn't be so much money. ¨
Make sure you have atleast 8 GB RAM - it's not so expensive.
Also never skimp on cooling, that's very important. It doesn't have to be liquid.

Now you can look how much money you got left, and considering that you could choose which CPU and GPU (and correct motherboard and power supply) you can afford. I wouldn't go below 2 GB memory on GPU if you are a serious gamer. CPU probably 4 cores.

I'm not going to make you a list, but these are most significant "epic gaming PC factors" for me :-)
Hope you pick well, and enjoy your gaming experience.

What is the best gaming PC available in India?

abhishek

I am planning to buy a hardcore gaming pc but I don't have the time to sit down and build it. Can u suggest any brand where I can customize the desktop or any company which can take specifications from me and make customized gaming desktop for me. I tried researching by myself but could not find any such thing on the internet for India. The customization offered by dell sucksssss big time ..... n i guess gaming platforms in india also suckk big time.
The budget is near 1,20,000

Answer
Dear Friend

You are right that in India, building a gaming pc could be tough. I can suggest you few places where you can actually look for.
http://www.techshop.in -- a good site which has a good collection of pc components, peripherals and the rates are good.
Otherwise it depends on your budget. You can go for AMD Dragon Platform or Intel Nehalem Platform (Core I7) based on your budget.
If you could give budget details i could suggest some configuration as i am researching for past 6 months to build a quality gaming pc.
