How to get a good gaming pc for around 300?

Q. I'm a poor fucker who can't afford to build a laptop or get a alienware. The only reason i can put his up is because of my neighbors internet. And being a fat fuck without a job and I'm not going to get one!Is there any way to get a alienware for around 200/300 dollars. And don't say craigslist cause i live in albuquerque and this town is poor as it is, there's only about 5,000 people in this town with a job.

Answer
Alienwares are a ripoff anyways. But you can't build a decent gaming PC for under $600 minimum

$300 gaming pc upgrade?

Madison

I currently have an older computer I built ( e3400 Intel wolfdale cpu, Asus p5641-mlx2/gb ) with 2gb's of 667 ddr2 ram). Now obviously this isn't a gaming machine, but I would like play some of the newer games. MY budget is $300, I was looking on newegg and I was able to get an a8-3850, 8 gb's of 1600 ddr3 ram, and a fairly cheap motherboard under $300. I'm not a fanatic gamer, I have a ps3 and am pretty happy with the graphics on it. The questions I have are: how well will this system perform? Would my $300 be better used somewhere else? I've seen people playing with the a-3850 online and it seems to do okay, the only thing I'm not sure on is on the future, I know a motherboard like the AM3+ will be supported for awhile but I'm not sure on the FM1(I understand neither of these are compatible with my current CPU). Please read what I put thanks so much.

Answer
I was in a similar boat about a year ago, and I was able to build a new one for under 300, and I still get usually over 60fps in most games -I ripped the cpu out of my other pc (only 3.1ghz amd dual core), and found a motherboard that would fit it, but if you can afford a new cpu, that tends to be the bottleneck in most gaming rigs. Here's what I got:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104072
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136744

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130265R

You might start with only 2 or 4gb of ram, I don't think any game really needs 8, but you're on the right track, newegg and tigerdirect are best for putting shit together

looking for a decent gaming pc?

Jamie Mc n

Ebay preferably. Please only people who know what they are talking about answer.. This is my second time posting this question and I got answers like "Buy a dell Pc they are a lot cheaper"..

Here are some of the specs Id like:
--Quad-core processor 3.0ghz
--4gb ddr3 ram +
--A graphics card like an nivida GeFore GT 450 1gb (Don't say this card isn't good, I ran crysis 2 on max settings with no aa and medium shadows on a 1366x760 res and i got a good 25-35 fps)
--Ether windows xp or windows 7

Im not trying to get a super gaming pc that will last for years, 2 or 3 years will do me out of it but I would like to be able to upgrade it myself. No a nice tower and motherboard as well please :) Also Im planning on running games with a 1366x760 res and I don't really care much for anti-analyzing or shadows.

I had a PC with similar specs but the water cooling I had got a leak and when I turned on my computer it fried everything inside :s.

My limit is â¬350 (£310, $520)

I have been looking for ages and I have found a few myself but I need help, there is like thousands up there. If you know a good pc site feel free to link what youd like from there. (Keep in mind, I live in Ireland and Euro is my currency)
@Idk and Brennan,
This is what I mean.. do a bit or searching and you will find what you need for this price, my last computer had the exact specs with water cooling and that was just 400 euro (around 600 dollars) but they are out of stock and i don't trust water cooling anymore.

Advice for a Gaming Pc?

theben22

Im planning on building a Gaming pc soon , Im looking for advice
Which Operating system is best for gaming many people tell me Im best off sticking with XP as its more compatible with older titles.
How much RAM would i need im planning to install 4gb DDR3 would this be to much ?? i was told 2GB would be just fine
Im planning to get a Amd Phenom 2 (B-E) 3.4ghz Quad Core processor would this be overkill or is Dual Core just fine ?
My case of choice will be the Antec Three Hundred
Whats the difference between a 512mb & 1gb Graphics card
In fact could Anybody Please kindly tell me what the specs on the graphics card mean as there's so many and it confuses the hell out of me lol
I preferably Want this PC to be somewhat Future Proof which is the reason ive chosen the Quad core CPU
I currently own an LG LCD monitor (19inch 5ms Response) its 1440 x 900 resolution would this be good graphics or would i benifit in upgrading to a 22inch with more resolution as im looking into playing some decent graphics
Thanks for your Help

Answer
your case doesn't factor into how fast your gaming PC will be.

I would go with Windows7. Any new gaming title will want to take the enhancements that os offers such as the latest directx. make sure that you get a 64 bit os as you will be able to want to get full use out of your RAM.

the clockspeed on you video card matters more than the memory on the card. I would consult toms hardware on sorting out what the fastest video card is.

Quad core is fine, some of the games are going to start using it.

Some gamers like to have a 17 inch widescreen so they have less screen to look at and they crank up the resolution. Me, I like to have a 22 inch monitor because the extra screen area is better, Also you may want to get more than one monitor as games are starting to make use of more than one monitor.

It all depends on your budget, I would spend more money on a killer graphics card, and less on a feature rich motherboard but your on the right path.

1--does this pc build work??
2--does the powersupply support this system?? how mutch watt will be left when i use 100% of the system??
3--is the RAM and the CPU so good that it can run the latest games like: battlefield3/skyrim??
4--is the CPU COLLING good enough?? will it be good enough if i overclock??
5--will the videocard run the latest games like: BATTLEFIELD 3 and SKYRIM??
6--the SSD is not gona be stored mutch things on, i have another harddrive with 2TB
7--will the cd station read bluray disks/normal cds for games movies and music??
8--will the soundcard take all speakers and have good sound?? its expensive
9--do you think the headset is good??
10-does the internett conection work like i put it in the usb and then i can connect to the home internett??
11-do you think 3966dollars is overpriced?? think about 3966 dollars as 2500 beacuse here in europe you need to pay extra money on evrything you buy..
12-will this pc run the latest games at max quality without overheating?? will the powersupply support the system??
13-what do you think about the system?? its for gaming
14-does the motherboard have enough connections??

15--i really want 2 grapich card:
if i add ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 2GB AMP! ® PCI-Express 3.0, GDDR5, DVI-D+DVI-I, native-HDMI, DisplayPort, 1058MHz as a 2 videocard, its the same as the last one, and its SLI
will the powersupply still support the system??
will the motherboard still have enough connections for it??
what do you think about the pc with this grapich card to??

if something is wrong at all pleas tell me, money isnt problem, and im building self on

Answer
1--Yes (double check your ram, usually you can only use ram of the same timing. It will default all to the slowest timing, and best to use all the same model/brand ram for performance)
2--1200 is overkill you aren't running SLI so you'll have about half your power freed up.
3--Yes the CPU/Ram won't even be 100% utilized by any game for a few years yet
4--You don't really need to overclock as i-7 chips OC themselves. However your cooler uses cheap plastic clips. Try a liquid cooler from "cooler master" I love their products.
5--Overkill you'll get max FPS on any game for the next year or so.
6--SSD for OS is nice, but SSD for games gives you crazy fast load times. I would suggest another ssd drive just for your "active" games. The ones you play most often, you'll thanks me later.
7--I admit I don't know anything about this, maybe someone else can chime in
8--Once again I use headsets, so someone else will have to chime in for this one
9--For the price yes, though Im a razor snob
10-Take it off the list, according to your MB choice it has built in wifi to the board itself which will always be faster then USB.
11-This PC will play games at max settings for years. So its really up to you :)
12-unless you mess with GPU/CPU overclocking you should have any overheating at all. If you do so, then it depends if you're good at OCing.
13-Pro
14-Seems fine

15--If you SLI you're card it should still be fine with your PS, Corsair makes an amazing PS and should leave you some power left over.
will the motherboard still have enough connections for it?? It has 6 PCI-E so you'll have 4 left over
what do you think about the pc with this grapich card to?? The 680 is a great card. SLI is WAY overkill and a waste of cash IMO with what the rest of your system looks like.

will fifa 12 work on my pc?

Make sure you are not running multiple task bars that have their own pop up blocker.

Yahoo will not tell you when they update, they just do it. So when games/chat have a problem you can bank on it that Yahoo have updated..and Yahoo update often...When yahoo updates you must update as well

there are 2 choices of Java you can use.......Sun Java and Virtual Machine....some prefer the sun java
but the Virtual Machine works better for games and you do need Java to play in games, ( without it some won't get in and if some do get in , they won't stay in games)

Update............. -- If you cant log into chat/games or you continually freeze, it is because Yahoo's browser has issues with SUN java as default, the coffee cup sux... The Virtual Machine Java works better with yahoo. Yahoo is Java dependant.
This is also the reason for the games applets not loading and some web cam issues. The easiest fix is to update , make sure all your windows are updated

2 monitor pc gaming?????

Sam Turner

how do i make it so that when i go in a game, the display will use both monitors. it only uses my original one but the other monitor just stayes on desktop. how do i make it both display my game?

Answer
Play game in a window, not full screen. Drag window wider across the two screens.

Is there any way to use a PC Monitor (perhaps an advanced one) to play console video games?

Chuka

.....i.e. playing PS3 on a PC Monitor instead of a TV? Any specific types of monitors that allow this?

Answer
you need an LCD monitor. Or an LCD tv. most are compatible in both directions.

my samsung TV has all the usual connection found on a TV as well as HDMI and VGA (for hooking my laptop to if i want).

My brother has an LG LCD monitor hooked up to his PC that he also plays his Xbox 360 through - and if he's feeling nostalgic, his sega dreamcast! lol

i noticed recently here in the UK that some of the major electrical stores don't seem to understand the difference between small LCD monitors and TV's, as two stores i went into were both selling 14" - 22" monitors as TV's! but i guess that also shows how similar both are getting these days.

Help me build a PC for 3D rendering and for gaming.?

Davey

I've never built a computer before, so I need some help. Bare with me because my knowledge of computer hardware is poor, pretend you are talking to a 5 year old.

This machine is for both work and pleasure. I want to build a computer that has amazing performance for 3D rendering (I'm a 3D artist but know little about hardware), can multitask well with without much slowdown from running multiple instances of Photoshop and MAX and even working while rendering (if that's possible) and also an excellent gaming machine. Lots of USBs are important as well because I usually like to have many peripherals.

My budget is between 1800-3000 Canadian, but I will spend a little bit over that if that is required to get something that is truly state-of-the-art.

A top-of-the-line computer is important to me right now, the best rendering speed is important for my projects and the highest visual quality in gaming for years to come is also very much so.

Thanks in advance.

Answer
Well, I'm really unsure as to how this hardware will perform when it comes to 3D rendering, but it shouldn't be that bad. The quadro series was designed for 3D rendering, but not for gaming, so it won't be any good.

So I'll design based on your gaming needs. Though honestly, 3D rendering on it should work on it just fine.

I'll be back with the computer specs in a bit.

EDIT: Here we go... I used Newegg.ca(nada) for the parts. You can also price check with NCIX Canada, which is, imo the best place to buy from if you live in Canada (www.ncix.com). I just didn't really want to deal with it's interface.

Now, this isn't the tip-top state of the art PC. Why?

Well, the state of the art CPU, the i7 3690x costs around $1100. + the standard mobo, add $300. That's $1400 off the bat. Then add a second GTX 580, for sli. That amounts to about $1000. So, after that you have about $600 to work with. You said you could go a bit over, so there you have about $1000 to work with for the HDD, case, OS, aftermarket cooling, PSU, etc. A bit hard to do. I think it's possible with a $4000 CAD budget at the minimum, but let me tell you - this PC is already a beast, and is still, pretty much, state of the art.

Now, with the listed parts, you can add a second GTX 580 for a total of just a bit over $3200. That'll GREATLY improve the performance, and the PSU can take it. Also, you can keep the single 580 and up to an i7 3690x for an extra $700 ($3400).

We can more then likely work out a solution, based around your needs. Shoot me an email, ahcereality@yahoo.com if you need to.

It'll also be a good idea to do a bit of research yourself. It's a really bad idea to order the world's best parts and not know how to build / use it.

I hope I was of some help!

OR if choosing Radeon, is it ASUS HD 6850 or XFX HD 6850. Please answer fast. Thanks.

Answer
Either for gaming or the programs you want to use, you're not going to make it with either of those cards because they are too weak.

You should be looking at an ATI 6970 or NVidia GTX560ti core 448, at least.

In fact, for the use of your editing stuff, you'd be better off with a Quadro card, but they're bloody expensive ($2000 to $7000) and not fit for gaming...

The rest of your system is okay, except you'd want to go for at least 8GB of RAM for the rendering/editing stuff...

Should i really get a gaming PC?

Nick

I kinda want a gaming PC cause i read a lot of things that say PC's are like the best and everything like that. But i really don't know if i want one now cause mostly the games that i would play is like GTA, COD, Counter Strike and maybe just mix it up sometimes. And i have played counter strike and a few other games on my cousins computer and i really liked them but i don't know how COD will be.But also reviews about call of duty on the PC just say that the game is filled with hackers and cheaters, and i do not want to play against hackers and cheaters. And yes i am willing to pay for it all its just that i don't know if i will enjoy it as much as i am imagining. And a lot of people say that PC is for like hardcore gamers but i play Xbox right know and I am really good and i don't mean to be cocky or anything like that but i average in the top 3 players every game so if i were to get a PC would i just get owned every game or would i fit in just fine. Please help me make a decision.

Answer
Gaming pc's are nice for just about anything, their speed is a nice bonus for every day work. For gaming, it doesn't sound like you need that powerful of a pc to run your games. It probably isn't worth getting call of duty for the pc if you already play in on xbox. We can't really decide for you as we don't know everything you will be using it for. I'm sure once you have it, you will find things to use it for.

Cheapest good quality gaming PC/laptop?

Corvo

The titles just it... I want a really good price on a really good gaming laptop...

Answer
Gaming laptop = high performance.

Good quality, high performance and cheap are 3 attributes that cannot be satisfied all at the same time. Pick two of them, or compromise between all three.

Good and powerful won't be cheap.

I'm looking for a new gaming laptop (NOT a desktop) that preferably does not cost over $2000 (although a little above that isn't a dealbreaker). Right now I'm thinking about the Alienware M17x. Any other suggestions?
I'm also thinking about the ASUS G75VW. Better than the Alienware?

Answer
Check these two gaming laptops

Can I play the Alan Wake game with this video card installed on my pc?

dave j

Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS. I have seen the video card minimum requirements on several websites and they are all different. The other requirements needed that have been mentioned are pretty much all the same and my system has everything else required.

Answer
No. That video card is too weak to run Alan Wake at playable framerates. And no on the second response. You can't 'brake' a computer by running a game on a weak video card. the game will either:
1. crash on start-up
2. will run at unplayable framerates and/or video glitches.

Since a GeForce 8400 GS supports Pixel Shader 3.0 and Dx 10 graphics, it could run the game (provided it doesn't crash for other reasons unknown to us - bad drivers, DirectX or an old operating system (eg WinXP SP2 under which the game can't run) etc. I have a video card roughly twice as powerful as yours and can run Alan Wake on medium with reasonably good framerates. So you get the idea. Download a demo and see for yourself what happens

Video Card for Crysis PC Game?

hesreal2me

Ok so I am looking to upgrade my PC but I want to be smart about it. Right now I have a:
160 HD
Intel 3.2 processor HT Technology
Radeon 9200 SE (Horrible)

I'm not sure if my processor needs to go.
My Hard Drive is fine.
My Video card sucks!

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 730b with (1280 x 1024)
With that resolution I am not sure what I video card I will need to run Crysis on high settings on. I also want to be able to use it for Directx 10.

I was thinking about the Geforce 8800gtx but I don't know that I will need that much since I can only play on (1280 x 1024) Max. Then I thought maybe the Geforce 8600gt but I hear that it would not be good enough but maybe for my resolution it will?

So all and all, do I need a AmD dual core processor? If so which one should I get that can do the job and not cost so much?
And as far as a video card goes, does anyone have an idea of what I should get considering my resolution?

Thanks to all!
I want the game to look the way I have been viewing it on trailers and from what I heard is that Directx 10 was created for this game and using the older Directx 9 would not look near as good. Isn't this true?

Answer
you can get a better graphics card, but if you want a card that will be good enough to handle crysis at high settings, you will need to replace your processor as well. This is because your processor will be holding back the potential of the card.

For your resolution, a 8800 gts 320mb card will be perfect. They took a 8800GTX, disabled a few pipelines and cut off some of the RAM to bring the price down. ( GTX = $550 GTS = $300) whats great about this card is you dont really need much video memory if your running your monitor at low resolutions.

As for your processor, amb dual cores are alright but intels core duos are the best processors out right now for gaming. A amd dual core running at 2.4 can be beat out by a intel core duo e6400 running at 2.13.

By the way, the offical crysis system specs are not out yet so we can only guess what we will need to play this game, but i consider the 8800 GTS the minimum when it comes to running crysis at high settings on directx10.

The next step down in cards would probably be the geforce 8600 which i doubt it can run crysis at anything higher then medium settings because of its crappy 128-bit memory bus that holds it back.

But if all this sounds a little to expensive to you, it pretty much looks like crysis is going to look good on dx9 anyway so go for a x1950 xt or gefore 7900 if you want.

good luck

can someone help me build a gaming desktop pc for under $1000?

Eric Opper

I know most of the parts of a computer but i dont trust myself when it comes to picking out all the parts i need to build my own gaming pc. I am on a 1000 dollar budget but want a great gaming pc that can also help speed up my architecture programs im running.

I want intel i7 quad core processor(hopefully 3.0 but can go with 2.8),
atleast 1 GB nvidia or AMD video memory,
8 or 12 GB RAM
and a great cooling system so my system never overheats or anything.
a cover that allows massive cooling

these are just specs that i'd like to have but if my expectations are too high or not high enough then i trust your judgement! i dont know anything about motherboards or cooling systems or covers. please email me at eao2012@gmail.com if you have questions! thanks!
hmm ok well what would it cost then for the type of computer i want? i am not limited to 1000 but dont want 1500 or up

Answer
$1000 is too high budget!!
Best priced gaming machine.

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz for $189
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727
This is the best gaming processor and the highest AMD processor. It
beats the lowest Core i7 processor in gaming performance and other
benchmarks. The lowest Core i7 processor is the Core i7 920 2.66GHz
which costs $288. So this processor is $100 lesser than Core i7 920,
but beats it in gaming benchmarks and Compression and Decompession
speeds, etc.. The Core i7 is better in movie encoding and stuff.
And the stock clock speed of the Phenom II X4 is 3.4GHz whereas the
Core i7 is 2.66GHz. The AMD Phenom II X4 965 is a black edition
processor so it has unlocked CPU Multiplier, so it overclocks like
heaven. The AMD can reach 4.2GHz speeds easily due to this, and still
remain stable and the temperature under 60C which is normal. The Core
i7 920 cannot overclock that much. It can go to 3.4GHz but you have to
increase the voltage to the processor and use water cooling blocks to
make it stable. This is dangerous to the processor. Just see the
customer review of the Phenom II X4 processor in that newegg page.
But the Core i7 processors which cost above $400, dont have any match
now. But soon AMD is bringing in mass market 6 core processor which
would be cheaper than those Core i7 4 core processors.

Motherboard:
ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO AM3 AMD 785G Motherboard for $85
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131398
This is AM3 socket motherboard for AMD processors and supports DDR3
RAMs upto 8GB.

If you go for the Core i7 processors then the similar motherboard
range starts from $189. Huge Saving!
And the main advantage of getting the AMD processor and motherboard is
due to its socket AM3 which is future proof. The Intels change their
socket with every new processor series so that they can sell more
motherboards with each upgrade. Like Core i7 has LGA 1366 whereas
Core2Duo has LGA 775. So in the future if any new processor comes and
you want to upgrade to it, then you have to throw this costly
motherboard and buy a new one for that processor.
But all future AMD processors are going to remain AM3 socket, so this
motherboard will work even if you upgrade to any new processor from
AMD(6 core, 8 core, 10 core whatever).
AMD and Intel are both launching their 6 core processors, the Intel
Core i9 and the AMD Hexacore. But the Core i9 socket will be different
from Core i7. Whereas the AMD processor will still be AM3.
So you tension of future upgrading is minimized.

RAM:
OCZ Gold Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 RAMs for $79
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227346

This motherboard for AMD has 4 RAM slots. These are 2Gb x 2 RAMs
and will take two slots. Presently no application or game in the world
requires more than 3GB. So 4Gb is more than enough. Adding more RAM is
wastage as it wont be used. When you will really require more RAM i.e
after 3 - 4 years then add in another 4GB.
Single 4GB RAMs are costing hell.

Graphics Card:
HIS H577FM1GD Radeon HD 5770 DirectX 11 support for $162
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161317
Future Proof Next-Gen gaming!!

What about NVIDIA you ask ? In case you didn't notice, at the green
side NVIDIA right now is on a DirectX 11 bashing marketing program.
Their program goes like this: DX11 games won't arrive until 2010 so
why purchase a DX11 card ? Well, next year when a lot of games will
start supporting DX11, you can rest assured that your card is
compatible and that you are not stuck with an outdated DX10.0 class
product. For your future game path, DX11 is an upgrade train you do
not want to miss out on. Why is NVIDIA doing this ? Well, they just do
not have their DX11 class products ready and selling on the market.

Power Supply:
OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ500MXSP 500W for $40
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016

Computer Case:
COOLER MASTER Storm Scout SGC-2000-KKN1-GP for $80
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119196
Excellent cooling!

Monitor:
Samsung 24" for $209
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001338

Keyboard and mice: $30
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126041

UPS:
APC 550VA for $66
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16842101343

Total $936

Im looking for a good gaming pc but for a low price?

adam

im looking for a pc that will play wow very smooth and look clear and thats the only game i will be playing do u think this is a good computer that will meet these standards or does anyone else know of any other good deals?http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/AMD_Athlon_II_DDR2_Configurator is this a good computer?

Answer
It's very basic, I would say you need to upgrade video card, while CPU is low end it will be good in WOW. Athlon II is not that bad at all, espcially when you unlock all 4 cores and overclock it over 3.2Ghz+. I know the company that can make it - CEntaurus Computers, guaranteed excellent quality and free overclock, free shipping.
DOn't forget to add WIndows, change PSU 9that 450W is so cheapo and will fail). This PC in the configuration like this will die soon, 100%, just like people say about cheap CyberP comps.
Check Centaurus Computers if you want better quality

How to make a Gaming PC?

Aiman

I need to know what is need to make a Gaming PC.

Detail information is fully appreciated.

Answer
A Gaming PC usually defined as a PC that is capable of playing the latest 3D games without any slowdown that can affect gameplay or reaction time.

To accomplish this you will need:
- Good CPU (multi-core processor so background process does not slow down your game).
- Ample RAM (so the game can load entirely into RAM and avoid swapping to hard drive).
- Good Graphic card (one that can play games at your desired setting at 30 frame-per-sec or better).
- Good PC case (one that is silent and have good airflow to cooldown your high performance components).
- Good Monitor (low latency and high refresh rate to eliminate ghosting and slow response).
- Gaming Keyboard/Mouse (can't play without a good, responsive input device).
- Gaming Headset (if you like to chat online and immersed in the 3D environment).

The choice of components will depend on your budget. Below I include a site that can help you decide which component you may be interested in to start building a gaming PC for any budget.

Good luck!

What would you recommend?
Looking towards a mid range gaming pc that can at least run Battlefield Bad Company 2 on max graphics at around 40-60 fps
Price range would be around 600-750$ for everything.
:)

Answer
if you are going to make a pc for gaming you are going to need a fast processor. and its going to have to be dual or more if you want it to run smoothly. secondly you are going to need a lot of rams, but that is very easy and cheap to upgrade or install. thirdly you are going to need a graphic card to run games at an awsome display and speed. ussually the least would be 1gb graphic or more to run some of the modern game real well. but after all that is placed you are now going to need a stronger power supply to run all this upgrades, or you will atleast need to set your bios to handle this.

there also other ways such as overclocking your system thru the bios
but it dosent work on all of them

oh and for the proccesor it is going to have to be atleast 2.0ghz dual core

Who has best prices for PC games?

Q. I used to buy computer games in retail stores, but started to use Steam recently. Now I found out that there are other online stores that let you buy PC games and download them. Which store is best, and why? What are the choices?

Answer
Right now there are many online stores offering PC games for download. It is worth to shop around because they all have competitive prices and many special promotions with huge discounts on individual titles or game bundles. Try these: Direct2Drive, GamersGate, GameDownloads, Impulse, GamesForWindows, GamePlanet, GameTap

If you want to quickly find the best deal on a game, to go GameDealAlerts.com - it is a service that aggregates prices from most of the above stores and even allows you to subscribe to email notification when game(s) you are interested in further drops in price.

Is this a good gaming PC for the price?

donaldblak

I'm thinking of buying this PC from HP that I will have custom built and was wondering if it will be a good PC for the money. The specs are:

Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q6600 (2.4GHz)
4GB DDR2-667MHz dual channel SDRAM (4x1024)
512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT, TV-out, DVI-I, HDMI
250GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive
LightScribe 16X DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive
Windows Vista Ultimate

All together this PC is 1,590.00 after savings and rebates. I was going to build one myself, but with no experience I thought it would be better to have someone build it for me. Is this a good deal and how good of a PC is it (I know it's pretty good, just want some opinions)?
I forgot to mention that it did come with a TV tuner. I'm not really a hardcore gamer, so the video card should last me for a while, but if I ever have the money to blow someday, I'll probably get a top of the line video card.

Answer
You forgot to mention one thing...what you will be using the PC for?

If you don't edit RAW uncompressed digital video/audio/photos or play the newest games, there is no reason for that processor or 4gb of RAM.

The video card is bottom of the barrel, the last generation 7600GT is much faster at $85.

A single 250gb hard drive at with a quad/4gb RAM system? That's completely retarded and idiotic considering 320gb Seagates are only $80 and 400gb are $100.

A single DVD burner?
They're only $30.

What power supply?
What motherboard?
Does this include monitor?

Anyway you look at it, this PC was put together buy a retard. It's all mismatched and bottlenecked. It has a quad and 4gb of RAM, yet a bottom of the barrel single hard drive and graphics card?

Doesn't make since.

Let me add this up for you from newegg.com prices:
$559 Q6600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017
$148 4gb of DDR2 667
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820609219
$64 8500GT
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150231
$27 DVD burner
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136119
$67 250gb hard drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822144701

"Name Brand" builders use extremely cheap micro-atx motherboards, cases and power supplies. Probably something like this:
$70 motherboard
$20 Case
$40 Power supply

For a TOTAL of $995 if you built it to their specs yourself.

Do yourself a favor and decide what you really use your PC for and don't waste $1,500 for a mismatched PC. You can build a great gaming PC for $1,000ish. Or a killer media/home theater PC for $1,000 with a terabyte or so of storage.

And go for a full, top grade aluminum case like Lian-Li, not the cheezy steel/plastic crap that Dell and HP give you:

What are the BEST Gaming PC Specs?

If you had a budget of... idk... let's say $2,000. What is the best (top performance) gaming PC parts/specs that you would get?

Answer
BEST GAMING DESKTOP PC BUILD:

FACT: INTEL IS A MUCH BETTER PROCESSOR FOR GAMING THAN ANY AMD.
See here:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

Processor: New 3rd generation Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor - $239.99
Or 2nd generation Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor - $204.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986

TOTAL: $974.90 to $1,019.90
All prices are in $USD and in the USA, as of end of April 2012, they might be slightly different one way or the other by now.

To make that the best, replace the graphics card with a 2GB EVGA or ZOTAC GeForce GTX680, and replace the 1TB Seagate Barracuda SATA III (6.0Gb/s), 7200rpm, 64MB Cache with a 240GB Patriot Wildfire SSD SATA III (6.0Gb/s) to use for OS, system updates, programs, software and games installation, add two 2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA III (6.0Gb/s), 7200rpm, 64MB Cache for more file storage room.
Total price should be well under $2,000, my guess is around $1,600.

Answer
yup, your build is decent enough to let you play all games on mid settings on 1080p. older games on high settings =D

BTW, since you have an H61 mobo, it would be much better if you just downgrade your processor to an I5-2500 since an H61 mobo isn't capable of efficiently overclocking an I5-25000k.

If you really want a 2500k then there is no choice for you but to upgrade into either a P67 or Z68 mobo of which you stated you didn't want to increase your expense that is why i said for you to just downgrade into a 2500.

reaver

i want a laptop that will not lag or anything . I want it to have really good graphics and sound also. i also want it to be able to play and burn blu-ray.Also lots of space on it for songs and things. One last thing i want this laptop/notebook to last along time and please leave the site of the pc. Thanks in advance.
budget is not to big of a deal just keep around 3000 i guess or 4000

Answer
You would need a gaming laptop like a dell xps. These are expensive new and I don't think are worth the money. I have a m1710 with a 256 card and a core 2 duo and it still runs the games nicely but won't run new games with full graphics I would recomend building a desktop if you want really good graphics with games or look for a m1710 with a 2.13 core cpu 7900gtx 512mb card and 4gigs of ram, it would probably cost you a little over 1000 on ebay. There are alot of scammers on ebay that sell gaming laptops! Make sure you only bid on someone with over 20 feedback and is covered by paypal for $2000 not $200!!!

Good Gaming PC Build?

Ryan

I play games like Crysis 2, Battlefield, Call of Duty, Mass Effect 3, Assassins Creed and Hitman Absolution. I already have a Westinghouse L1951NW 19" 1400x900 LCD Monitor and a Windows 7 Ultimate disc. Is my build good? I am a little bit worried about my graphics card being able to run Battlefield 3, and/or not even being necessary for my Monitor. I would also like to stay under $700 if possible. Thanks.

Thank you Filenotfound! Thank you so much!
Also my motherboard has Onboard USB 3.0 Headers and my case doesn't. Will this be a problem?
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3P-$63.91

Answer
The Z68 motherboards cant overclock the ivy bridge cpus. Also with that board you cant make full use out of the pci-e 3.0 bandwidth. (tho a 7850 would probably not see much if any performance loss in 2.0, but higher end cards will or if you try to crossfire 7850s you will notice a huge bottleneck)

So really id suggest you drop your cpu to a non K model like the 3450/3470 or something.
Then id suggest you get an H77 or B75/Z75 or Z77 motherboard, so you can make full use of ivy bridge features.

Now for your ram, since you have an ivy bridge you REALLY should be ddr3-1600 memory. Also its ALOT better to get 2 4GB sticks, that way you will be running in dual channel, thus doubling memory bandwidth. There is really no need for more then 8GB, as even while hardcore gaming and multitasking at the same time, ive never broke the 4GB barrier lol.

id get a little better psu like the corsair 500W, or the antec new eco 520W.

everything else is good though.

EDIT: jim is retarded... and i7 will make ZERO literally ZERO difference in gaming over the i5. (you may see 1-2 fps MAX difference, and that is only because of the larger cache). If you are going to spend $100 more, you are better off spending it on the graphics card which will add like 100 fps more >.>

And if you have a retail copy of windows (not oem) you CAN reuse it on another computer. as the retail copy can be installed infinite times on any computer you want.
OEM are locked to the motherboard (tho ive heard people just call microsoft and say their motherboard died and they got a new one, and they can reuse oem codes, but i can NOT confirm that)

EDIT2: why would that be a problem? XD
all motherboards have like 2 usb 2.0 headers, the usb 3.0 header is completely different. You jsut need that IF your case has usb 3.0 ports on the front. So having that on your motherboard is very good in the event you upgrade to a 3.0 case. Also since the zalman z9 plus has usb 3.0 ports, you can probably buy a usb 3.0 port for the front of your case from like the zalman website or something.
Ive know a few other cases that allow you to swap out a cases 2.0 for 3.0 ports.

is this a good gaming pc for the price?

PENTIUM D GAME PC $1169.99
Pentium D Dual Core CPU
2 Gb RAM Memory
400 Gb SATA Hard Drive
256 Mb Video Card
Dual layer Dvd Burner
Combo Cd/Dvd Rom
Web Cam
52 in 1 Card Reader
19" Wide Screen Flat Panel
Windows Media Center
Wireless Keyboard Mouse

Answer
There is some major info missing to judge effectiveness for gaming or value. At extremes, if the CPU is a Pentium D 820 Dual Core and the video is a 6200LE, the price (and system) would be horrible, while a 960 and an 8600GTS would be a poor price and a fair system. This sounds old enough that if it is at a store, they really want to get rid of it. It is a closeout and should be *way* under $500. If it is some person selling a used system, maybe half of that.

For an example of what you can get shopping around for sales, see:
http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=71137&t=553826
push the CPU to AMD 5000+ and the video to 8600GTS 256 DDR3) and you would have a good game system for under $500 w/o monitor. Add a 22" wide for well under $300 (My 22" wide westinghouse was $220 at a BestBuy sale) At under $800, THAT would be a good gaming system at a very good price.

For examples of complete systems that are probably at least twice as good at that price (fair for gaming): 1 with monitor:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=999976800050013&type=product&id=pcmprd76700050013
and 1 without monitor:

Who has best prices for PC games?

Q. I used to buy computer games in retail stores, but started to use Steam recently. Now I found out that there are other online stores that let you buy PC games and download them. Which store is best, and why? What are the choices?

Answer
Right now there are many online stores offering PC games for download. It is worth to shop around because they all have competitive prices and many special promotions with huge discounts on individual titles or game bundles. Try these: Direct2Drive, GamersGate, GameDownloads, Impulse, GamesForWindows, GamePlanet, GameTap

If you want to quickly find the best deal on a game, to go GameDealAlerts.com - it is a service that aggregates prices from most of the above stores and even allows you to subscribe to email notification when game(s) you are interested in further drops in price.

can someone help me build a gaming desktop pc for under $1000?

Total $936

What's a good gaming PC under $1000?

Frank

I'm looking for a gaming PC that can run games like Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 smoothly. Can anyone help?

Answer
You should be able to build a computer for under $1,000 that works faster than any you can buy for under $1,000. There are tutorials all over the internet for it.

But if you really want one, I suggest this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227369

From the reviews, it should be able to run newer games smoothly.

Also, another piece of advice: If you're a dedicated gamer, never buy a gaming PC. Buy the parts to build one.

Whats The Best Gaming PC Under $600?

Brendan

I am looking for a gaming pc under $600. I dont know whether i should build it or use ibuypower. And is it hard to build one. And what would be the best bang for my buck

Answer
If you don't want to build one I suggest something like this:
iBUYPOWER Gamer Power 562D3 Desktop PC
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227392

I encourage building one, as that would not only be the best bang for your buck, but also is the only way you get complete control over which parts you get.

yes i know i should build my own to save money or get someone to do this, but i am unable to do either so I need one that is already made.

Below are the sites I have looked at, which of these would be the best to order from or is there another site that is better? and if you really want to be my hero list what parts I should get using the website. Im looking to spend around $800, but can go up to 900 if needed, for just the pc but i need everything operating system included but have speakers monitor and keyboard/mouse. I want to be able to play most of the new games coming out this year I dont need max settings but dont want min either. thanks

Answer
I understand some people don't want to build their PC, that is good news for you though because I have looked at all of these sites and found Ibuypower is cheaper than building your own. Digitalstorm is a worse value and your budget has to be pretty high for them almost 1600 cyberpower has a slightly lower cost effectiveness than ibuypower but seems to be a slightly larger company. Aside from the value they seem to have good reviews over all I have heard some stories where people get bad motherboards or other defective parts or shipments take too long. In almost all of these circumstances I have heard that Ibuypower has resolved their issue with a quick phone call. Defects happen with every company you can try HP if you want a main stream custom build but I would just go with Ibuypower if I were you. If you choose hp it will be next to impossible to upgrade or change any parts yourself the others will be very friendly to upgrading and changing parts.
for more info on each of these companies here are ratings on them.

Here is a custom PC build from ibuypower that should be suited for you needs
YOU MUST CHANGE THE GRAPHICS CARD TO A GTS 450

To get cheats and hints for any game you want just go to http://www.gamespot.com and search for the game and get the cheats for it, and I can assure you is this website is the great and the safe for game cheats and info and reviews in the Internet.

P.S I not advice you for trainers because the most of them comes with spywares and viruses.

Good luck bro.
