We all have unrealistic wants. This is yours. You cannot get a gaming PC for 500.

Second, runescape is incredibly lame. Stop playing it.

The new 250GB Xbox 360 SLIM vs PC GAMING?
I am going to return to casual/hardcore gaming, and I am torn.

If I was to build a custom PC I am gonna go ALL OUTTTT from scratch(keyboards, mouse GPU CPU etc.) It will cost $2,200
AMD 1090t
6gb Corsair Dominator
5850 toxic x2**
27 inch 5ms 1080p lcd samsung
Razer mouse
etc.

or new xbox 250gb at $300 + $350 27inch display in my room, and 52" Bravia XBR I'l use when dad leaves the country for a business trip lol)

BASICALLY, what are the Pros and Cons, and what determines my decision, I do not like to blow this much cash on a PC but my problem is I DO. lol

I was in a similar situation like you until last year. I was a long time pc gamer, always thought why spend money on xbox. But at the same time I couldn't always upgrade my pc hardware.. many games now demands high end systems. During last christmas I saw xbox was getting cheaper. I paid AU$199 for the arcade console here. and it's a funny story that they had just sold the bundled games to someone 5 minutes ago. Those games were basically really kids games. So they gave me an option to choose any other game as a part of my bundle (they were giving two games for free). I looked at the game rack and went happy crazy inside my mind when I realised why not ask for the newest and most expensive game. I asked 'Is it okay if I get Assassins Creed II? and he said 'I'll see what I can do' And I got Assassins Creed II and Resident Evil 5 for free! LoL. And as I calculated my cost of always upgrading the pc hardware, I realised I had spent so much money to keep up with new industry standards.. because the system requirements for games is constantly going up. I recommend you go with Xbox. I live in Australia, but at the most you'll pay US$299 for new Xbox.check gamestop website.

Pros: new Xbox is a powerful system. You won't have to ever worry about upgrading to new processor or new graphic cards. The console graphics look stunning. And there are always games on sales. Unlike playstation 3, xbox is compatible with old xbox games too. If you wait a little, new game prices usually go down. or you could just rent a game for much cheaper. You will have to pay $5/month for Xbox Live to play online multiplayer, but there's so much more to it.. you can access facebook, twitter, from the consoles; rent movies instantly. they play instantly as you hit play button. Plus in US they announced ESPN sports on xbox without paying extra. In australia we'll have FOXTEL/ all tv channels on the console. The online gaming on XBOX Live is far far better than playstation 3. Plus you'll have a huge Xbox Live games library. Plus motion-control Kinect is coming to Xbox for non hardcore gamers, but I hope it will evolve towards hardcore games too.

Cons: The rrod was the only major issue in the past. But since Jasper chipsets, and new ones, I can't think of any. hmm. Ok. one thing missing is the Blu-Ray player. That's because microsoft believes in on-demand digital content rather than physical discs. And honestly, it's primarily a gaming console. Blu-rays movies are still bit expensive and DVDs are not going anywhere for atleast next few years. It could be a discussion, but as a gaming console, I happy with it. So game addiction could be problem. LoL.

Go ahead with Xbox 360 :P

Here is some more information on the New Xbox 360:

It is unofficially called Xbox 360 'Slim'. Although it is labelled only as Xbox 360 S. It is 17 percent smaller than the previous Xbox Arcade and Xbox Elite with Jasper Chipset inside. It is far quieter than the previous ones. The disc initially makes some spinning noise, but then it becomes very quiet.

I recommend you always install the games you will play most onto the hard drive; not only the xbox runs quieter, but you will also increase the life of your disc by preventing the scratches as the game will run from the hdd.

And I think the heat and infamous RROD issue is blown out of proportion because the since Xbox has been using the Jasper chipset, the RROD issue has been taken care of. The new xbox has Valhalla Chipset, which consumes less power and actually runs much cooler too. Although the vents for the fan will be a bit hot, the rest of the system will be cool to touch. Some people misinterpret this for an overheated xbox, while that not the case because the fan space is hot because it throwing the hot air outside! In fact the new xbox has an automatic internal mechanism that protects the system from overheating. But a wise thing to do is to keep the xbox in an open area, not a cabinet where there is no ventilation. As long as you take care of your xbox, you'll be a happy gamer :)

One important point is not to move the xbox or dangle it in the air when the disc is spinning inside. There is a sticker on the disc tray 'Do not move when disc n tray'. But some stupid people can't read the sticker in front of their eyes and dangle the xbox in the air, which will damage the disc. I don't see any reason why would anyone be dumb enough do that, unless they're dumb haha.

The design is amazing. Looks great. The graphics are amazing and produce far better textures than compared to other consoles. The xbox game library is vast. And Xbox Live service rocks! I'm not sure about the Kinect yet, but it's targeted at non hardcore gamers anyways. It comes with 250Gb hdd and an built in wifi n adapter, which is the fastest wifi on any console. Plus which means you its affordable as you won't have to buy an expensive external adapter. Everything is built in;)

The Jasper chipset on 2009 onwards is widely believed to have greatly improve the reliability, I am more than hopeful that the new xbox will deliver on that. But overall, it is the best time to get an xbox. These improvements should have been made a long time ago. Finally, it has turned out to be a great upgrade. I'm happy with it and definitely recommend it:)

Cheers;)
