Answer
Its sure is a good gaming rig, the processor is top notch and the amount and type of RAM is good so you won't face any lag or processing issues ever. Gaming mouse and keyboards are a personal preference but the one with this bundle is quite good and above average.
PSU is enough to power up all the components though i recommend that you go for a 500W or 600W PSU for keeping you future proof and also coz its the life line of all your expensive components so keep it the best you can.
The only thing that problematic here is the graphic card as it a 4GB DDR3 which is only suited for multi-monitor setups and will not give you a very good performance while gaming as a DDR3 memory is slow and can never process all that 4GB of memory in tight and fast situations like gaming and would prove to be a bottle neck for all the other high quality components in your rig so i highly recommend that you go for either of these they are in the same price range as the one that you are planning to buy:
Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7750 1 GB GDDR5
Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 1GB DDR5
If you can extend your budget then do go for:
PowerColor AMD/ATI HD 7750 1 GB GDDR5 or
Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7770 1 GB GDDR5

Other than this you have a very good machine change the GPU and i'll rate it 8/10

You can see this article if you like for any further guidance:

Hope that i was helpful enough :)

Is it worth buying gaming PC?

Coltin F

I have a normal computer now that can run most games on normal settings some newer only on low, i was just wondering if PC gaming is still going strong and if it is worth upgrading to play some of the latest games
I am on edge on buying a $1100 gaming PC just need a little more convincing

Answer
Yes, Defanatly because Crysis is my favourite PC Game and it's PC exclusive.Be carefull what pc you buy,my sugestion is spend most of your money on graphics card because that's where all the speed is the cpu may do alot but a good graphics card will get you realy good frame rates.

My brother bought this computer from ebay it arived in 3 days brand new: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-AM2-6000-COMPUTER-4GB-GAMING-BEAST_W0QQitemZ200239489493QQihZ010QQcategoryZ4317QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

then upgraded graphics card to an 8800 GTX i suggest you do the something similar.

some good graphic cards recomended:
8800 GTS about $250
8800 GTX about $360
9800 GTX about $400
9800 GX2 about $650

A new Tomb Raider game? To all my fellow Tomb Raider Players?

su

Hello,
I have been playing Tomb Raider ever since I was 9-10 years old. I am 17 now.

I absolutely love the thrillin nature of gameplay it allows the user to experience

I played the First OG Tomb Raider on the PC. Although it's Graphics were terrible, the gameplay was amazing.

The 1-5 series were amazing too.

Then I played Angel of Darkness, the game has provenly suggested an increase in heart rate while gameplay. The thrill, the spike of excitement to what lies behind the wall or door is outstanding.

Then I played anniversary, good graphics and a remake of the original game.

Then came the exceptional Game of Tomb Raider: The Legend. Ah! Remarkable! Every word of praise is an understatement. The cache of the unbeatable sword of doom, the sporadically occurring mystical creatures (almost impossible to beat the monstrous creature in the temple !), the amazing representations of the countries (loved Japan!), Lara's excellent apearance full of élan and oomph at the same time (best character creation among all games) and thats only few of the many things it has to offer! A game I will love forever. Among the best for sure!

Then I came across Tomb Raider: Underworld. This game has incredible graphics but the gameplay is saddening. The story line lacks the usual thrilland the process is too convulated. As the legend has easy controls, amazing story line and was comprehensible this one is completely opposite! Banal! It took me forever to get the enormous octopus looking creature to move. A very depressing game and very short of its time of gameplay.

Now I will, to know what new game has finally come to our existence? Another Tomb Raider game perhaps for the PS3 only?! If so, what is the name of this game and what is its reviews?

Thank you for reviewing this question. Have an adventurously unconventional day. May the mysteries of life enchant you. Adieu.

Answer
Good day to you. I've been playing TR since 1996.

I enjoyed reading your summary of TR games history. So very few people on Yahoo take the time to put so much effort into a question. My hat goes off to you. I will return your courtesy by giving you a link to a website where you can download FREE Tomb Raider games. These were made by fellow TR enthusiasts using the Tomb Raider Level editor. Many of these are ready to play with no additional software needed. When you look at the title information page for a particular level, it should indicate so. These "levels" use the old "Core" game engine so, refresh yourself with the classic controls. Nothing from Crystal Dynamics here. There is also a level available that is a remake of the first Tomb Raider game but, with much improved graphics (since you didn't care for them so) It's called "Tomb Raider I revised" by an author named Daoine Sidhe. I have played this level and I can heartily recommend it for players who liked the very first game but didn't care for the crude graphics from 1996. The author also made some minor changes to enhance some of the gameplay from the original BUT took very good care to leave the original game intact.

http://www.trle.net/

Many players do not share your enthusiasm for TR Angel of Darkness. It's refreshing to find someone that didn't dislike that installment. I would like to play it at some point. I also share your feelings for TR Legend and TR Underworld.

However, I feel a bad sense for the new TR game. I have seen the trailers for it and I feel like it's trying to copy the same bland "Survival/Horror" genre that made Resident Evil such a success.
It's scheduled to be released in March 2013. We shall see if they don't delay it's release a second time. It's been over 4 years since the last game. The longest Tomb Raider drought in it's history.

Can someone rate/review my PC?

Andrew

Ok Guys i need a new good pc i don't have price limits but i am a heavy gamer. should i just buy all the best parts money can buy and go to a shop for them to put it together and if so where could i find a shop that does that in the Kentucky/Tennessee region(Not where i live just visiting family members) will best buy's geek squad put it together for me. As you know the decision is up too you and any answers will be accepted.

Answer
Gaming Pc's work mainly on two things. Video card and memory. WHile they do work your CPU as well, RAM is always the most important thing in a computer because it is an easy upgrade and relatively cheap.
You will need 4 gb of RAM or more. If you get more than 4 gb you will need a different version of Windows.
The video card is another question. You really need to see what is out there the month you buy it and look at a few magazines for their reviews on those cards. You can sometimes get a better card for half the price.
Another thing to Look at is what games do you play. certain games will respond better with particular video cards. The other problem with video cards is that in 3 months time there will be a faster one.
I have known groups of friends who each month, the one with the slowest video card will buy a new card and become the best player in that game. Don't spend huge money on one card and find out in six months time everyone is beating you so you then have to upgrade.
Look at building a good quality system that can handle it's own and leave yourself some money to upgrade a bit as time goes by.
For a laptop, the DELL XPS has a great reputation. It is the one you see Sheldon using on THE BIG BANG THEORY TV show.

Best Gaming PC under $900?

Martyz

Please don't spam, just tell me and give me a good reason for 10 points.

Answer
the best gaming pc you can get is the one you build and make on your own.
basic components of a pc are cpu, motherboard, hard drive, cd drive, power supply, ram, and a case

a rough guestimate for an average gaming pc would be
$120 - motherboard
$150 - cpu
80 - power supply
100 - ram
70 - case
30 - cd drive
75 - hard drive
150-200 an operating system (depending if there is a sale on some retail websites)
do some research on tomshardware forums on how to build a pc, there is a very good detailed guide there

once youre ready go to newegg, they have amazing deals and low prices daily.

dont buy a store bought, you end up paying more then what you actually get. and they give you a bunch of pre-downloaded crap.

here is the guide
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/257075-13-guide-choosing-parts

if only i had that link when i built my first computer i would have saved myself 2 months of research through crap websites

Should i really get a gaming PC?

Nick

I kinda want a gaming PC cause i read a lot of things that say PC's are like the best and everything like that. But i really don't know if i want one now cause mostly the games that i would play is like GTA, COD, Counter Strike and maybe just mix it up sometimes. And i have played counter strike and a few other games on my cousins computer and i really liked them but i don't know how COD will be.But also reviews about call of duty on the PC just say that the game is filled with hackers and cheaters, and i do not want to play against hackers and cheaters. And yes i am willing to pay for it all its just that i don't know if i will enjoy it as much as i am imagining. And a lot of people say that PC is for like hardcore gamers but i play Xbox right know and I am really good and i don't mean to be cocky or anything like that but i average in the top 3 players every game so if i were to get a PC would i just get owned every game or would i fit in just fine. Please help me make a decision.

Answer
Gaming pc's are nice for just about anything, their speed is a nice bonus for every day work. For gaming, it doesn't sound like you need that powerful of a pc to run your games. It probably isn't worth getting call of duty for the pc if you already play in on xbox. We can't really decide for you as we don't know everything you will be using it for. I'm sure once you have it, you will find things to use it for.

Do you like console gaming or pc gaming?

I Like 4AG

Tell me what you like and explain in detail. Give me pros and cons if you can. I would choose PC gaming in my preference.

Answer
PC gaming
- (Slightly) better graphics than consoles if you got a powerful rig
- A keyboard so you can conveniently use TEXT CHAT
- Retail games are usually priced $10-20 lower than console versions
- Steam sales
- Many PC exclusive indie games and MMOs
- Better aim in shooter games with a mouse, don't need a silly aim assist
- Key bindings customization
- MODS

Console gaming
- Cheaper to buy a console
- Can sit on a comfy sofa to play
- Controller (depending on preferences)
- Few technical problems faced unlike PC (like installation or failure on game startup)
- Many more AAA big budget games exclusives (Halo, Uncharted, Infamous, JRPGs?)
- Larger Display
- Less hackers in online games maybe?

So weighing all those in, I guess it's best to say PC gaming wins.

My First Gaming PC :)?

Mustafa

After being a STANDARD PC user since 1990 I have finally decided to build my very first Gaming PC though my wife says that I am too old for that - I am 34 now. So need some guidence.

In Processor I got the following choices:

INTEL CORE 2 QUAD 2.40Ghz (8MB CACHE - 1066 MHZ FSB) INTEL XEON QUAD CORE 2.00 GHZ (12MB CACHE - 1333MHZ FSB).
Both comes in my limited budget.

Also if you guys can suggest suitable motherboard, RAM (thinking about 4GB DDR2), Graphic Card, Sound Card etc. then it will be awesome.
I am really grateful to all the people who replied to my questions, I do want to select every answer as best answer but sadly I am not allowed for that, thanks.

Answer
Well, since you're on a budget, here's what I suggest. I think that you should actually get a different processor. Quad core isn't as good when it's below 2.4 GHz compared to Core 2 Duos.

Low End
Processor - 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E7200
Heatsink and Fan - Zalman CNPS9500 LED
Motherboard based on the Intel P45 chipset (ie. Intel P45 Socket 775 ATX Audio PCI Express Gigabit LAN USB 2.0 SATA RAID eSATA)
Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640 GB
Memory - 4 GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM (Corsair XMS2 or OCZ HPC Reaper series)
Video Card - Radeon 4850 or GeForce 9800 GTX+ (512 MB or 1 GB, your call; If you decide to get the Radeon, makes sure that you get the card from a manufacturer that offers a 3rd party coolers as the originals are horrible)
Sound Card - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer
Optical Drive - Samsung Lightscribe DVD Burner SH-203N
Power Supply - 700 Watt or Higher

Medium End
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
Heatsink and Fan - Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme
DX38BT Motherboard (look at the nVidia 700 series if you want to SLi)
Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640 GB
Memory - 4 GB DDR2 1066 MHz RAM (Reaper HPC Edition 4GB PC2-8500 DDR2 DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit)
Video Card - GeForce GTX 260 or Radeon 4870
Sound Card - Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional or Asus Xonar DX 7.1
Optical Drive - Samsung Lightscribe DVD Burner SH-203N
Power Supply - 850 Watt or Higher (recommend BFG ES 800 Watt PSU)

High End
Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 or the new i7 cores...but I wouldn't get those atm, WAY to overpriced and 3.0 GHz quad from Intel (can overclock to 3.5 GHz) should last a while
Heatsink and Fan - Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme
Motherboard - NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI or Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 Intel X48
Hard Drive - Western Digital VelociRaptor
Memory - 4 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM (recommend OCZ Reaper HPC 4 GB kit; you can upgrade to 8 GB if you have 64 Vista)
Video Card - GeForce GTX 260 SLI (x2/x3) or Radeon 4870 X2 (You can get 280 GTX if you want, but atm, price not worth it; though it does save you multi GPU problems)
Sound Card - Asus Xonar D2X 7.1
Optical Drive - Samsung Lightscribe DVD Burner SH-203N
Power Supply -1000 Watts or Higher (recommend Enermax Galaxy 1000 Watt DXX PSU or BFG 1000 Watt Power Supply)

Enjoy :D

I get like 40-50 fps at battlefield 3 on low settings. I bought the pc used. It was assembled 6 months ago.
I have updated my video drivers. What other drivers should i update?

Answer
Your gaming pc isn't simply a Processor and video card. You have hard drives which become fragmented, you have drivers that become old and don't support features added in game updates, you have dust that clogs fans and keeps components from working optimally...

I have similar specs, FX-8120, 16gb ram, radeon HD7850 and I play BF3 on ultra settings on 5040x1050 resolution...and I get no lag what so ever.

Of course, I clean my PC every couple of months.

How to make a Gaming PC?

Q. I need to know what is need to make a Gaming PC.

Detail information is fully appreciated.

Answer
A Gaming PC usually defined as a PC that is capable of playing the latest 3D games without any slowdown that can affect gameplay or reaction time.

To accomplish this you will need:
- Good CPU (multi-core processor so background process does not slow down your game).
- Ample RAM (so the game can load entirely into RAM and avoid swapping to hard drive).
- Good Graphic card (one that can play games at your desired setting at 30 frame-per-sec or better).
- Good PC case (one that is silent and have good airflow to cooldown your high performance components).
- Good Monitor (low latency and high refresh rate to eliminate ghosting and slow response).
- Gaming Keyboard/Mouse (can't play without a good, responsive input device).
- Gaming Headset (if you like to chat online and immersed in the 3D environment).

The choice of components will depend on your budget. Below I include a site that can help you decide which component you may be interested in to start building a gaming PC for any budget.

Good luck!

Which Components to buy for a Gaming PC?

Super Goku

I am planning to buy a new computer in November 2013.I am going to buy a Budget System with a budget of Rs 28000. I am really confused on which parts to buy. I will be primarily using it for gaming, not on high settings but on Medium - Low Settings at a resolution of 1280x768.I have following problems -

Processor - Budget = Rs 8000. First I decided on i3 - 3220 but i3 - 3210 gives almost same results while shredding few bucks, but then I found out that AMD FX 6300 is massively better than any intel i3. I researched on net and it turns out AMD has massive heating problems and I am not going to invest in a separate Cooler. I am not opting for Haswell as the Haswell i3 CPUs have not launched in India and I don't know if they will be available in market till November 2013. So, I should I wait for Haswell Gpus or I shoul get a 13 - 3220 or 13 - 3210 or AMD FX 6300(If the heating problem is not a serious matter) ?

Motherboard - Suggest me a motherboard which is best for the Processor you selected at under Rs 4500.
Graphics Card - Budget = Rs 5000. Here the main card is Radeon HD 6670. If I increase my budget by RS 1000 i may find a Nvidia GT 640, but is Nvidia GT 640 really worth extra 1000 bucks?Maximum I can go for is the Radeon HD 7750 worth Rs 7500, but if HD 6670 can do my work then why waste extra Rs 2500?
IS HD 6670 good enough for my needs or I should go for GT 640 or HD 7750?

RAM - Any good RAM of 4 GB at Rs 2500.

HDD - Keep this as low as possible because I don't require much space. The cheapest Desktop HDD I checked at flipkart was of 320 GB at Rs 3300. Even If I get a 250 GB HDD I dont care. However I kept a max budget of Rs 3000.

Monitor - ALREDY BOUGHT.

Cabinet - Budget = Rs 2000. Any of your choice.

PSU - Budget = Rs 3000. Whatever that will support all my components.

Total = approximately Rs 28000

Please check for any compatibility issues.I am eagerly waiting for your answer as it is my 14th Birthday present.

Answer
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1CwjK
This build will run modern games at roughly medium settings at 1080p, so your resolution won't be a problem at all for it. It's about $40 USD under budget to account for higher prices, or some money to put aside for a new copy of the OS if you need it.
Here is another option:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1CwqX
This allows for later GPU upgrade, and includes a nice CPU. You could grab the FX-6300 if the FX-8320 is massively more expensive. A CPU cooler is recommended, but if you aren't overclocking and the case has around 3 decent fans, you should be fine.
Either build, you can look for cheaper parts. I wouldn't recommend going cheaper on the mobo or PSU though. For RAM, 1600 MHz at least 4GB, for case, whatever you prefer (but don't forget fans), for GPU you seem to know what's in your budget already, so the 6670 is probably your best bet in that price range (unless you plan on upgrading within a year or so).
I wish you the best of luck with your build!

What PC should I consider?

Razzak

I was looking to get a new PC because I do have an old one currently. I am a bit interested in a bit of gaming so much as being able to play Crysis 3 at a pretty decent level. One that is really thin and light so portable. I will not care for an optical drive however I don't mind if I get one. Lastly I was thinking the price range to be about $2000 or less.
I asked for a laptop because I take take my laptop with me for other reasons.

Answer
Take a look at these rankings:
http://blog.laptopmag.com/best-worst-notebook-brands-2013/3

For gaming laptops I would start here:
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/landing_pages/ideapad/gaming-pcs
http://www.asus.com/us/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/Gaming_Products/

Gaming laptops are pretty expensive. In your shoes I would get a performance desktop and then a separate more basic laptop. The reason is the $1500 or so you spend on a high end laptop now will be outdated as far as gaming performance within 2 years and you would need to repurchase to keep up to speed. You could get an excellent gaming desktop for well under $1000 and then an inexpensive laptop for $300-$500. The desktop would be relatively easy and inexpensive to upgrade over the next years while the laptop would chug along just as able to meet your mobile needs then as now.

YMMV

Lenovo, Asus, HP, and Samsung are the top 4 laptop brands. I wouldn't consider any other brands.

Dell makes Alienware and they are not worth the money charged.
Acer makes Gateway. You'd have to pay me to use one of their machines.
Sony hardware has generally been good, but they are notorious for putting huge amounts of crapware/bloatware on machines and gathering information on their consumers without their knowledge or permission.
Toshiba has bottomed the rankings. Personally, I have used them and never had a problem, but that does not appear to be the case any more.

How to Play Final Fantasy 7 (2012 PC re-released) Full Screen?

Michael th

The options for full screen is in the settings, but there are huge 3.5" black borders on the sides.
The only configuration I found was called Lang, no full screen option in there.

Answer
hmm ... see for the file with the name "config .cfg" you can find it in the game Dir or in the Document where the save game files exist or in the windows registry files...
open it into a notepad and look for the option full screen. it should be 0 value change it to 1 and then save and close.
now start the game.

Recommend some good PC games for me?

Got myself some extra money and I'm thinking of spending it on some PC games. I don't care what kind of genre, just wanted it to be fun to play with. Doesn't have to be a new game, or popular. Personally hoping it's the kind of game that have a high replay value.

Any suggestions are deeply appreciated.

Answer
Hello,
If you have a good graphic card then you should play Grand theft auto 4,Call of Duty Black Ops ,Call of Duty MW3,Need for Speed Hot pursuit (2010),Need For Speed The Run,Ghost Recon Future Soldier,Battlefield 3,Saints Row the Third and many other games
If you don't have good graphic card or you don't have graphic card but your built-in memory is good then
You should go for Left for Dead 1 and 2,Crysis,Call of Duty 4,Need for Speed Most Wanted

Many awesome upcoming games are:
Fifa 13,Need for Speed Most Wanted (2012),Call of Duty Black Ops 2,Dead Space 3,Bio-shock infinite and Grand Theft Auto 5.

AverMedia game capture HD on PC !?

alien

is there any way to use the avermedia game capture hd on my pc?

Answer
It takes component video input. You can probably work out a way to get your video card's output converted to that, but it would likely to be a bit fiddly as they say, and what kind of video quality you'd get might vary depending on what you ended up doing. Most video card HD outputs are either going to be DVI or HDMI. And you might have to spend more money on stuff to do the converting. The included "universal component cable for consoles" wouldn't be much use I don't think.

I used to have a couple old video cards that came with little widgets that converted DVI to component, but those only worked on those specific video cards. You might have to get an actual scan converter. Or recruit an old tv tuner or dvd player or camera you have lying around that has the appropriate inputs and outputs, or whatever.

Frankly I'd just as soon get a capture device that takes HDMI, but if you've got your heart set on this thing, maybe because it records direct to a drive or something, well yeah you can probably do it, with some effort.

How much will it cost to build a high-end gaming computer in 2013?

Theo Turne

I'm thinking of building a new gaming PC this year (I built one in 2010 for around £1000 but its getting a bit dated now). I expect to be building around June-July time, and given the current speculation on future releases from Intel/AMD, my specs will be approximately as follows:

i7-4770k
HD 8970 3GB
16GB 1600MHz RAM
Crossfire ready LGA1150 Motherboard
Decent case with 750/850W PSU (for potential Crossfire)
256GB SSD (no HDDs, I hardly use any space, currently running Win 7 with 5 games, using 120GB)
Windows 8 Pro (with Blue upgrade)
Peripherals: 1080p 27" monitor, decent gaming mouse/keyboard/headset (expected to be £300-400 for all peripherals)

What sort of price do you think this would equate to? Note that the launch price of the i7-4770k is expected to be about the same as that of the 3770k, and likewise for the HD 8970. Could I get it for under £2000 (a little over $3000)?

Fell free to make comments on my choices/suggestions (I will consider getting an nVidia GPU but not an AMD CPU). Thanks!
Please note that I live in the UK and therefore prices are around 20% higher than in America.
@Wcdih... I'm not going to get X79 as it won't be any better for gaming than X87. I have a friend with an i5 2500k and a GTX560Ti, another with an i7 3930k and a GTX560Ti and they get Identical fps. Have you got any links to the specs of that i5 you mentioned?

Answer
processor is too much, i5 3570k is all you need.

if you are gettign 16 gigs of ram make sure its 4 x 4 gigs and not 2 x 8 gigs and 8 gig sticks have higher latency timings in general.

rest looks good.

could easily get for £2000

personally i would just upgrade your current one if you spend £1000 on it 3 years ago it must have an i7 or similar and good psu. just get a new graphics card and SSD.

the only thing i would change is the monitor, if you are going over 26" you are far better off swapping to a 2560 x 1600 res monitor, trust me it looks amazing.

my friend has one of these, its amazing:

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-dell-u2713hm-led-ips-monitor-dp-hdmi-dvi-vga-2560x1440-10001-350cd-m2-8ms-black-with-4-port-usb-3

okay its probably gonna cost closer to £500 - 525 with all the keyboard mouse etc now but trust me its worth it, if your paying £2000 you may aswell go for the best.

EDIT:

editing due to your post.

you do realise processor has nothing to do with gaming performance. the i7 4770k will perform almost no different than an old phenom 2 965 in gaming if paired with identical graphics cards.

aslong a as a processor can run a game having a better one will make, at most, 2 - 3 FPS difference.

your friends get the same performance because they have the same graphics card, if the one with a i5 2500k got a 660ti he would have far better gaming performance than the one with the i7.

anandtech.com seems to be down at the moment but if you look at the benches between CPUs and scroll down to the bottom and look at gaming performance you will see minute changes between the 3570k and the 3770k processors but , in comparison, huge changes between the nvidia 660 and the nvidia 680.

I purchased all the parts to this computer in June 2011 (getting close to 2 years ago) except for an additional 2TB hardrive June of 2012 and the Logitech Illuminated keyboard a few months ago. Everything is still in great condition; I just have no need for it anymore and would like to sell it. I am wondering what an estimation of the current value of it would be so that I know what to sell it for? Is iMac i5 quad core best? Only serious answers please...?

Amardeep

As question tells all about, I am going to buy an i5 iMac this Monday. As I have some money in my budget for that :) It has quad core processor. 21" screen. As I read somewhere that Apple may release new models of iMacs in June-July, but it don't meters as I am crazy to get one :) I like the design of iMac. However I don't need it, but I like it and want to have one.

At the moment I have good Laptop with i3 processor and 1GB graphics card and 500GB HDD. I also have desktop computer with 22" LCD screen. But, I had seen iMac of one of my friend. And I liked the design very much and also wanted to work on Mac OS X Lion. For more information, I am web developer, and I don't need heavy software, I only need Photoshop, Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver. Which I think it can run smoothly. But I also like some games in my free time, not too much heavy games, but small ones are enough to pass the free time, Games don't meter though.

Oh yes, I have choice too to chose one from two iMacs. I need good answer and please suggest me which one I should get. I know many will say "You can take a very good PC with half of the iMac price with good hardware". I understand but try to understand me, I already have them, but don't know why I can't stop myself to avoid iMac :D May be I wanna try Mac OS X, I know you will say "You can install Mac OS on your computer", but It is illegal and also there are problems with hardware like sound will not work, if it will work, will not work correctly, but I don't want to do that on PC. I want it on original Apple computer.

So, here are 2 iMac computers with price for April 2012:-

i3, Intel core 21.5" iMac, Price = $970
i5, Intel quad core 21.5" iMac, Price = $1230

Please take your time to answer this question, I need detailed answer with full attention! :)
And your kind help will be highly appreciated, And If you satisfy me with a good helpful answer, I will love you forever. I will never forget. Please answer..!!

Thanks a lot in advance.

Answer
I use iMacs and Mac pros at least 3 times a week so I can answer you this . I'm more of a of guy but macs are still great pc's no doubt in my mind . And to answer your question it depends on your perogative . The i3 iMac will have enough power for the programs you mentioned , however it doesn't have a good graphics chip . It won't game well at all and you mentioned you may want to game on some off time . So if that is the case the i5 one is by far more powerful and also has decent dedicated graphics . So if you wanna game I'd reccomend the one with the i5 since it has more processing power and a dedicated gpu . Neither will be game maxing beasts but the i5 one can play new games at moderate settings . :) hope this has helped

How can i make my pc a gaming pc ? for cheap cost?

I have Dell Dimension 8400, i allready have a pc but i just want my pc to be a little faster more than actually a gamer.
any suggestions to make it a little faster for a very low cost ?
Hello my computer is a dell dimenstion 8400

with a 180gb hard drive, and 2gb of ram. i have also installed the most recent graphics card on the market for this type of model.

Answer
Is this your PC?:
http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-dimension-8400-for/4507-3118_7-30919189.html?tag=mncol;rnav

If so, you really can't do much to make it run current games smoothly.

The Pentium 4 is obsolete these days, as multi-core CPUs (e.g. Intel Core2 Duo/Quad) are becoming more suited for recent games.
The graphics card is also not powerful enough to run current games.
The amount of RAM is also an issue - you need at least 2 GB of RAM for most games.

It'll be better to buy a whole new PC.

You motherboard won't support any current CPUs, so you you won't be able to upgrade your CPU (unless you upgrade your motherboard with it as well - which is costly).

If you have to upgrade something, you might as well upgrade your graphics card, as it would be compatible with your motherboard and it'll make games run considerably faster - cheaper yet good suggestions include nVidia 9600 GT and ATi HD 3870. If you can stand to pay a little more, I'd also get an extra 1 GB of RAM.
Just know that there are still certain high-end games, such as Crysis, Far Cry 2 and GTA IV, that won't run on your system well.

You might also want to try overclocking your CPU (Google it), but it may have adverse effects.

Building a gaming PC?

I want a nice gaming PC for under $3000. I know there is a lot I can get but what would be the best course of action? Should I get a premade, or custom? What brands should I buy?

Specs I want:

Intel I7 Processor
16 GB RAM
(Graphics cards are hard to understand and pick)
(So are sound cards)

Please help.

Answer
for that kind of money i wouldn't buy i pre-built gaming pc as they will over charge you. instead if you're willing to spend i bit of time learning how to build a pc (it's easier than you think) you can build a mean gaming rig that can not only crush any game you throw at it for years to come, but also be able to do 3d design or game development easy. ii also seriously doubt it would cast you that much either. i'm building a rig that can handle every game out there on ultra and it's cost just over $1500 usd.

as for picking a graphic card for your budget i'd recommend a nVidia GeForce GTX680 or ATI radeon 7970 orr if you willing to spends a bit more on the graphics card you can go for a nVidia GeForce GTX690 all can handle every game out to date and for a few years to come on ultra. as for sound cards most motherboard come with them integrated so you don't have to worry about that.

here is a well trusted site you can use to buy pc parts if you're interested http://www.newegg.com/

and here are some step by step instructions on how to build a desktop pc

A good Gaming Desktop under $500?

Q. I'm wanting to get into PC gaming, but most PC's are expensive, and I'm only 14, so I don't exactly have $700 dollars to spend. And I know making a PC is cheapest, but again, I'm young and can't make something like that on my own. Not looking for much, it doesn't have to run Crysis 2 on the highest settings or anything, I just want something that can play most games on low or medium settings. Counter Strike: Source, Killing Floor, and The Binding of Isaac would be primary examples of what I would play.

Answer
Disagree with the Amazon one just presented, since it is only NVidia 610 graphics so needs a graphics card. Agree and have recommended the Newegg one at $530, re-adding here in case you choose this best answer:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227392
There is also a very interesting laptop at Tigerdirect until they sell out:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2008029&CatId=4938
Acer Aspire AS5560G-7809 NX.RURAA.001 Notebook PC - AMD Quad-Core A6-3420M 1.5GHz, 4GB DDR3, 320GB HDD, DVDRW, AMD Radeon HD 7670M
Although an A6-3420M is a low clock speed, it is a quad core. It gates(bottlenecks) gaming, so it is hard to truly know, and it gets hot, so a laptop cooler is essential, but this $450 (plus shipping) has a 7670M and is below $500 (Newegg Desktop is $550 delivered and one or the other or both are plus tax depending on your state). The Desktop ranks with a GT 640M
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
and the laptop as shown a slowed 7670M
You might also find used gaming systems on Craigslist.
You evaluate CPU and GPU and other features to try to match performance to an equivalent new one.
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
Priced correctly is 30% to 40% below an equivalent new system using newegg and tigerdirect to guide. (0.6 to 0.7 price multiply). And, they do come up with patience if in a large area.
The laptop includes a 15.6" 720p screen and at least HDMI output. The desktop requires a monitor or TV.

With Crysis 2, and the top end The Secret World as guidance of what the Newegg Desktop and the Acer laptop can do

You should get MEDIUM-HIGH (not ultra) for The Secret World on the desktop, meaning it plays every single PC game sold, and you are adjusting settings to match the frames per second stability you want. It should get Crysis 2 very fluently and smooth on high settings even on a 1080p screen.

The Acer laptop should get The Secret World on medium with a little tweaking and hopefully the fps is satisfactory, or otherwise shift it to low settings. It should get Crysis 2 on medium-high, so it should meet your price and play targets and also have a portability.

2004 Counterstrike source is also listed in Notebookcheck. Lesser graphics chips recorded 150 frames per second on high. The lower end games should not be a challenge on either system.

good gaming desktop preferably under $500?

Kittyn

is this asking too much? there's too much info scattered across the interwbes, so i came here looking for recommendations. i play a lot off MMO's and such, but that's basically the only thing id use it for. i don't want to spend too much, at the moment i have 4gb ram, with 2.10 ghz... but my graphics card is crap (for todays games) and i cant upgrade my laptop.
oh, and what i meant was, do these not exist?

Answer
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227339
theirs not really a good one for 500 under but that is the best for under 500, you cant play a game like black ops on high settings maybe medium

Why is my gaming pc lagging at games?

I wanna build the best PC there ever was.?

Jack

Hi, I wanna build the bets gaming rig in the world. No budget. I wanna see all the best parts. Also, please make them all links to newegg.
Also, make all the parts compatible.

Answer
I put together the best computer available on using Newegg.

Here is what I recommend as of October 7, 2013. (New hardware will come out)
Don't take my word on everything; double check compatibility with everything before you buy it.

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116939
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157327
RAM (x8 Preferrably): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208906
Tower/Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133193
Hard Drive (x2 Preferrably): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148844
CD/DVD Drive (This one is BluRay): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136268
GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127745
Monitor (If you don't already have a nice one): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313

All together that will cost you around $2500 and you can always add more to it.

Like I mentioned before, double check that everything is compatible with everything before you buy it. I just pulled these up real quick to get you the best answer. Enjoy!

What Gaming Headset Should I buy For PC?

I am looking to buy a really good quality gaming headset for intense PC gaming but I do not know what to buy. My budget is maxed at 400$. What is the best gaming headset I can buy for 400$ or less. Thank You for the help!

Answer
I'll recommend an Astro headset, which supports both PC and laptops, with surround sound. Here you can find an actual user comment on the headset:

http://www.amazon.com/review/RS6A1ZSGBX0QZ/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0091WIOJ2&linkCode=&nodeID=

This is one of the best wireless headset which is within your price range and have some cool features. The features, aesthetics and comfort are all solid on the A50s. The virtual surround sound really enhances gaming experience. You can easily mute the mic by moving it in the vertical position. Mixer and knob quality is both ergonomic and solidly built. The volume knob feels great and is easy to fine-tune without accidentally blasting the sound level too high. Headset does create a little bit of discomfort when paired with 2 glasses such as 3D glassed over normal glassed after prolonged use however in normal usage like with single glass for eyesight and without glasses it is most comfortable.

You can also check out Sennheiser PC 380 or Turtle Beach Ear Force XP510 they are also great headset and are within your price range.

What parts should i use for making a gaming pc?

Hello im making a gaming PC and i will mostly use it for gaming and surfing the web i will need it to run Minecraft WoW and modern games like Battlefield 3 and maybe Lego universe i would like the case to light up in blue red or orange and my budget is $500-600 Thanks

Answer
I play minecraft 24/7 and I know that it has memory leaks and other issues that make it so you need a higher end computer in order to get rid of the frequent crashing and lagging. http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/AMD_Quad_Core_Configurator/ Most of the configurations on this computer configurator is enough to play bf3 at 60 fps except the graphics. My understanding is WoW isnt exactly intense on the specs of your computer so this should be good.

What would be the best and cheapest parts for a gaming desktop?

best gaming desktop 500 dollars on Top 3 Gaming Computer Under 500 Dollars | Gaming Laptops Under 500
best gaming desktop 500 dollars image

Anonymous

Apparently, I am not good with putting parts together, because the price for the things I've got listed is over 1000 dollars, and I have heard of people with amazing gaming desktops for less than 500.

I'm willing to spend between 600-1000. Under 600 or close to it would be optimal until I get a job.

What I have so far, is:

Monitor : LG - 24" Widescreen Flat-Panel LED Multifunction HDTV Monitor

Tower : Corsair - Obsidian Series 650D Mid-Tower Case

Power Supply : Corsair - Enthusiast Series 850-Watt ATX/EPS CPU Power Supply

CPU : Intel - Core⢠i7-4770K 3.5GHz Processor

Ram : NVIDIA - GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express Graphics Card

Fan : Corsair - Hydro Series H100i Dual 120mm Fan CPU Cooler

I don't know if that is all I need, but it turned out being extremely expensive.

My first question is, would this be a good gaming computer?

My second question is, is there a cheaper set up that would be just as good?

Answer
If your main purpose for your build is gaming, then I recommend getting the Intel 4670K instead of the 4770K, the reason why, is that there is almost no game on the market to date that totally takes advantage of Hyper-threading and in some cases it has been known that hyper-threading can actually drop your FPS in some games.

What I recommend doing with the extra $100 you would be spending on the 4770K and invest it in a better GPU, something on the lines of the GTX660ti or the GTX760. The GPU is were you will see the most improvement in gaming all together as games now a days are more GPU intense then they are CPU intense.

Other then that, very very nice build you have going. Also one other thing, if you want to throw a little more money towards a better GPU after saving the $100, you can get a PSU that has 600W and it will still be enough power to support everything you have. Now a days everything is about power saving not how much power you have like it was about 5 years ago. GPU's don't even use a ton of power like they use to.

Hope this helped you,

What is a decent gaming desktop and were can i get it?

Shane

I would like to get a desktop between 300 and 500 dollars. It needs to be able to run world of warcraft with little to no lag on high settings.

Answer
The only way to get a decent gaming desktop for that price is to build it yourself, and it would be on the $500 end of it.

You could start with an i5 chip, which would run you about $200. Many times you can get a rebate to get a motherboard and get it for next to nothing, or free. Add 8 GB of ram for about $35, Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium for $80. Grab a cheap case for $20 or less, and 300 - 500 Watt power supply can come as cheap as $40 with rebates. That's roughly $375 total. Now, the most important part is the graphics card.

The remaining $125 would would get you an ok card, but for "lag free" I would think one in the $150 - $200 price range would be good. Total system cost from scratch: $500 - $575... not too far off from your max.

Hi, my son is turning twelve this week , he wants a gaming PC. I don't have much money to spend. I already have a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Thanks

Answer
If you are in the UK, this company are really well-priced and here's their cheapest gaming rig.

http://www.desktop-option.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=107

Personally I would use the configuration option and up the RAM to 4gb and the hard drive to 320gb. Adds 20 quid to the price, but well worth it.

How much will I need for a good gaming PC?

Hi, I was just wondering how much money I would probably need for a good gaming PC (including monitor, mouse, etc). I do not necessarily want to play every game with fully maxed out setting, but at least on the mid-high end spectrum for the next few years. I am trying to muster up about $1000, but I'm not sure if that will be enough. Also, if you know any reliable, well-priced PC's, a link would be great.

Answer
With monitor, you can have an upper level gaming PC for $1000

Basics should be something like

- i3 or i5 processor (or the AMD equivalent)
- P67 or Z68 motherboard (see above)
- minimum an ATI 6870 or NVidia GTX560ti graphics card
- 600 watt modualr power supply (lmodualr because easier for cable managment)
- 4 to 8GB of RAM @1333/1600MHz (higher speed isn't needed because of unnoticable speed gain)
- SATA 600 hard drive
- LiteOn DVD burner
- Well ventilated case
- 24" monitor from Acer or Asus (cheapest around and pretty decent)
- Simple but good mouse and keyboard from Logitech or Microsoft

The above goes between $900 and $1000 when scanning a site like NewEgg...

im looking to but good gaming equipment for my pc (mouse keyboard, headset etc)
does anyone know a site where i could get good quality for a good price

also add details about brands if u can( i know Razer is good ) any other suggetions?

Answer
I recommend Newegg.com and Amazon.com (ebay works well also) Their prices are usually cheap.
I use Razer products, their products are really good, and they are known for their gaming products such as the ones you mentioned (mouse, keyboard, headset) For a mousepad, I recommend SteelSeries qck Gaming Mouse Pad.

You should also check your retail stores nearby. They might have sales on those products.
