I am considering getting a pc mainly for gaming (I would still use it for other things of course), but I do not want to spend over 600 dollars. For that budget, shoud I just get the ps4 or xbox one? If not, then where do I start?

Its an Average gaming PC.

Why buy the 650 Ti and not the 660 Ti.

Why not buy a Gigabyte with 1155 Socket and put an i7 (Any i7 is good), Really what are you going to do the 6 Core Amd Processor ? (I think that 6 Core processor is mostly for servers...).

Now the Power Supplier you chose is good 600 is okay.

So ill give the build you just builded an 5.6/10

Gaming PC desktop $400-600?

I'm looking for a gaming PC (desktop) with a price range of $400-600. I don't have to play on max settings, but mid-high would be good. I'd like decent FPS just like anybody else, I hate lag.

Games I'd like to play:
Call of Duty 4
Oblivion
Fallout NV/3
Dragon Age Origins (2 even if not med, low would be fine)
Runes of Magic
WoW
Mass Effect 1+2

I'd also like a decent monitor. Try to keep the price under 700, the whole point here is to save as much money as possible. HD is preferable.

It doesn't have to be a preset build, link me and give me the specs if you need to and I can make it.
And this will be my first gaming computer, SO that's why I'm asking the community.
I can build it, I have my brother to help me out. I can be pretty flexible price-wise. I just want to save money because I'm only 16 and have been saving up with money from my first job for a while. I have approximately 1000$ right now.

You didn't list needing headphones/speakers, so I didn't include them. And I've no idea what your preferences are anyway.


Biggest issue with the other two systems IMO is the graphics card- It's the generally the biggest bottleneck for gaming performance, and both of them are featuring cards that are really going to struggle badly with modern games. The HD5670 would blow either the GT220 or HD4670 away with ease.

If you can afford it try to bump up the recommended HD5670 to a Radeon 5750/GeForce GTS 450.
Anything faster then that is probably going to require a bigger PSU as well and then you'd start blowing your budget. The Geforce GTX 460 is a fantastic price/performance card, but you'd need a quality 450-500W PSU to handle it.

Processor wise, Athlon II X4 or Core i3 would be worthwhile upgrades.

In any event, prioritize the graphics card first. Definitely try to cut back spending elsewhere to get the best card you can.
Look towards the processor second, and try not to drop below 4GB of RAM.
Bigger/better PSU or bigger HDD would be very cheap upgrades in the above system if you have a bit of extra budget room.

your demands are unrealistic :/

For what you want, you should get something like
Amd FX8350 + 8GB ddr3-1866 memory with lowest timings you can get, amd 7950 or 7970 graphics card (or wait for the 8000 series which would be better since thats like in 2 months).
Also the new amd FX steamroller cpus are coming out in a few months aswell.

If you want to do 3d rendering, you want an amd graphics card due to its far higher double precision then nvidia cards. (unless you are getting workstation class cards)

For playing games like crysis 3 at 1920x1080 on ultra at 60 fps you are probably looking for a min of a 7950 in performance.

For screen recording and/or video streaming you pretty much want the fx8350. Or maybe the i7-4770k but thats far more expensive.

8GB of ram = $70-90
amd fx990 motherboard = $130-150
case = $60-80
PSU = $60-80
HDD = $80-100
amd 7950 = $300

So you are looking at $800-1000 for what you want.

So I want to build myself a new computer and my budget is at $600 that is with a monitor, keyboard and mouse and without the OS. You're way overpowered on the graphics card (which your PSU can't support anyway)

The Radeon HD 6870 is powerful enough to play games like Battlefield 3 and Crysis on high settings at 1080p. That's overkill for Steam Games, CoD:Black Ops and GW2. For those, you'd be fine with a $100 card like the Radeon HD 7750.

Besides, the HD 6870 requires a minimun 500 watt power supply that provides dual 6-pin connectors. The Corsair 430W is too weak and only provides a single 6-pin connector.

Finally, for budget builds you should go with a 1600x900 monitor instead of a 1920x1080 model. The lower resolution screen allows entry-level and low-midrange graphics cards to perform much better.

If you dropped down to a Radeon HD 7750, the Corsair 430W PSU you originally selected would be enough in the PSU department.

You could also upgrade to 1600Mhz RAM. The actual difference in real-world performance would be marginal (only a 3-4% boost) but it's cheap!

to your other question concerning that Avatar computer from Newegg I have to say that it's not as good as this build (older cpu FX 6100, pretty weak graphics card GT 640, but useless 16GB ram. you will hardly need more than 5GB even when playing BF3).

I'm looking to build a semi-budget ($600 or less) gaming PC in the next six months or so that will play Guns of Icarus online, Sanctum 2, Shogun 2, Medieval 2, M&B Bannerlords, stuff like that.

I have no idea what video card to start with - it has to be air-cooled with fans (not comfortable with liquid cooling), support Dx 10, carry 1 GB VRAM and shader support, and ideally cost $150 or less. The type of chips available and the number of generations on-market now is a little daunting. Any advice?

I'm also planning on building with a Quad 2.5 GHz, 8 GB RAM and supporting Win 7 64-bit.

I would go with a amd hd 7770 a good midrange graphic card for gaming , another one is a gtx 650 ti a step up from the gtx 550 ti there are no liqiud cooled graphic cards most of them has fans with cooling pipes installed to keep them cool

I can't afford a top of the line gaming pc, however, i keep reading comments that it is cheaper to build a gaming pc than it is to buy it already made. would it be possible to build a gaming pc that can handle great graphics at around the 500-600 dollar area. I just so happen to have a nephew (age 14) that has been trying to answer the same question. If i were to try to build a gaming system with the amount of money you have, one sure way is to visit the compute flea markets. You can usually snap up some pretty good bargains. I would never try to buy any gaming computer new. Unless you're willing to spend triple what you have budgeted, you'll most likely be quite disappointed.

This isn't the answer you were looking for but 70 fps on BF3 for $600 is not do able.

Tthe fact that you only have $600 to spend, you can get most of the parts for under $600 true, but a GFX card that can run BF3 at over 70 fps is going to put your budget out pure and simple. Graphic cards that good usually cost a couple hundred by themselves, and that's not for a high end one.

Honestly, I could tell you part by part, but I don't know where you live, what shops you have available etc. And even then, if you are getting someone else to tell you what you need to build it it ruins the fun of it.

Look at the graphic card you want. Look up what harddrive and memory you want. Look up the case you want. See how much they cost, and mix and match. There aren't that many variants out there, so finding someone cheap that is right for you isn't hard.

If you truly don't want to do any of that, there are many pre-built systems that can run BF3 quite smoothly on high to ultra settings for under $1000.
