How to make a Gaming PC?

Aiman

I need to know what is need to make a Gaming PC.

Detail information is fully appreciated.

Answer
A Gaming PC usually defined as a PC that is capable of playing the latest 3D games without any slowdown that can affect gameplay or reaction time.

To accomplish this you will need:
- Good CPU (multi-core processor so background process does not slow down your game).
- Ample RAM (so the game can load entirely into RAM and avoid swapping to hard drive).
- Good Graphic card (one that can play games at your desired setting at 30 frame-per-sec or better).
- Good PC case (one that is silent and have good airflow to cooldown your high performance components).
- Good Monitor (low latency and high refresh rate to eliminate ghosting and slow response).
- Gaming Keyboard/Mouse (can't play without a good, responsive input device).
- Gaming Headset (if you like to chat online and immersed in the 3D environment).

The choice of components will depend on your budget. Below I include a site that can help you decide which component you may be interested in to start building a gaming PC for any budget.

Good luck!

best gaming mouse for pc?

IDKWHATTOP

Any recommendations for a good gaming mouse. I am willing to spend as much as it takes but I want a good quality mouse that will last for a long time. I play all kind of games with the computer but i don't want to many buttons on the mouse preferably under ten like 7 or so. I am hoping for wired but wireless will do as long as it doesn't lose connection. I also want preferably high dpi and hopefully laser. Thanks and sorry if in wrong category

Answer
logitech G7 is a great mouse and can creat profiles for speed like 5 different speeds on each game you play. it also has weights you can set for comfort of movement

How much did Xbox And PlayStation make in 2013 over PC gaming?

Nia

I want to know if consoles or PC made more money. If possible I'd like to know specifically how much each of them made. Just a general number, don't have to get into specifics about selling games or the consoles itself. Everyone has their own opinion but I want to know which one is making more money a year.

Answer
Theres currently no hard data on how many PC games were sold exactly in 2013. However, it is known that PC game sales are down by 15% from last year whereas many console sales are up, with the Wii U hitting +233% from its 2012 game sales.

You just cant expect PC to ever really sell like console because of the higher spec demand of games, illusion that high end PCs cost a 2nd mortgage, and pirates taking their fair share from the pot. Theres money to be made if you publish a great PC game like Sims or Battlefield maybe, but as far as I can see, consoles will always reign supreme.

(I'm a PC and Console gamer so I'm just speaking the truth)

Comments/Suggestions on Gaming PC?

qwik_silva

I am planning on building my own computer and have made a list of what im thinking of using, located here 'http://pricespy.co.nz/mypage.php?a=qwik_silva&k=8420'

Any comments or suggestions on how i could improve it?

Answer
well everything looks good to me. One thing that i should point out is that your are ordering a blue-ray drive which in my opinion is pointless unless you are going to use your pc with you HDTV. other than that everything looks fine, you should double-check compatibility just in case. And make sure that you power supply gives you at least 50 watts free on a full load.

Hope this helps

What is a good list of specs for a gaming pc?

Walter

I want to own a gaming PC for various reasons my main driver now is pretty good but it is a everyday computer it is fairly new so it plays games at a fairly good speed because the specs are pretty good but I want a gaming PC that is dedicated to just that games the main reason is because I like to play emulators and when I try to play the Wii, play station, game cube etc. emulators it is unbearably slow with certain games and I wonder what I would need to have something that could handle them at full speed. any advice will help

Answer
everyone here is pretty clueless lol

for wii emulation you NEED a i5-3570k/4670K (or an i7-3770k/4770k but it doesnt help much over the i5), period.
there is NO other cpu which can handle wii emulation. even a 5.0ghz fx8350 can NOT handle wii emulation at full speed (i know from personal testing as i had one).

and for pc gaming, you want a decent graphics card.
so a gaming pc build which can play pc games and wii emulation id suggest:

i5-4670K (overclocked to 4.0-4.2ghz)
coolermaster 212 cooler (or better)
$150+ or so Z87 motherboard (to handle overclocking w/o any trouble from weak vrm or capacitors)
8GB ddr3-1600 memory
gtx 660/760 graphics card or an r9 270X or an amd 7870 ghz edition.
atleast a 650W quality pus like a corsair TX650 or HX650 or better.
any decent mid tower case such as corsair 300R will do fine.
1-2TB 7200rpm HDD
120GB SSD (optional, used for main boot drive and used to store your installed programs on. should be enough room for a few games which you wish to have fast load times. mmorpgs benefit greatly)

benjamins build is one of the worst ive ever seen :/
a logysis psu? shoot yourself now... it wont even power the computer at idle...

and moist is completely clueless about everything...
ssd do NOT make textures render faster... the textures are loaded into ram... and then passed to your gpu.
do you understand how SLOW SSD are? they are like 1/10 the speed of your ram, and like 1/50 of your gpus memory...
your pricing of cpus is way off, and ram memory capacity isnt in gigabits :/
you need to learn how to better use google....

What is a good Gaming PC configuation?

TMNT :] [

Well, I'm pretty bad at this stuff. I started looking at CyberPower.com but I keep making it 1.7+ Over. I have a max budget at around 1.2k, can go a little over. I want to run games like Crysis 2 (I'm putting that as my example for the graphical part) well, I want to run those graphics with good frames you know. Right now I have a Laptop...and It's pretty bad. Haha, I want it to be put together already, I don't want to take the risk to make it by myself. I don't care what it looks like. Please include a decent Mouse/Keyboard , and just the cheapest headset. Monitor!

Best and Cheapest (With explanations) Get's best answer!
Will add extra details to answer your questions.

Answer
Hi

Well, one thing i would suggest you is to make a custom build PC rather than go for CyberPower because that itself is going to save your 200-300$ with same configuration.

Here is the article that might help you for your custom built configurations :-

http://letschangeindia.in/topic/11-best-pc-within-budget-updated-june-2011/

Just go for all the recommended specs mentioned their and you can build your own gaming rig at approx 900$.

& yes, you can run all games including Crysis 2 at high settings without any lag :)

Save rest of money for future upgradation :)

I need help building a gaming pc!!!?

The tittle says it all... So far this is what i have- P.S if there are better parts for less money please let me know! --- for my processor i have the intel core i7 3820 lga 2011 boxed processor.----- for my graphics card i have the evga nvidia gtx 560 ti 2gb--- for my desktop memory/ ram i have the Dominator gt series 8gb ddr3-2000 (pc3-16000) Cl9 dual channel desktop memory kit-- for power supply i got the zx series 850 watt atx modular power supply--- for the pc case i have the Corsair Carbide series 300r mid tower atx gaming computer case--For the motherboard ive got the Asus p9x79 pro socket 2011 x79 atx intel motherboard--- im sorry this is so sloppy but im doing this on my phone...so can you guys give me the rest of the things i need? Like hard drive and what ever else im missing? Something good that wont cost to much plzz.. And this is my first time trying to build one so should i replace the power supply with something less?? Like 700 watt? And no i dont overclock nor do i wish to.. I hope you guys can help me out getting the rest of the parts/ replacing the ones i do have for better (the only game(s) i only want to play is arma 2 at the high possible settings or atleast high settings? Will these parts be good? Will they be able to run arma 3 when its out? Thanks for the help. ( my budget only goess up to 1400$ maybe a bit more)

Answer
Graphics card is by far more important than the CPU. Since you are starting at a little over $200 on the GPU, here are potential upgrades, where with ATI you lose PhysX. The ATI 7000 series improved the power use and do not cost any more than 6000 series equivalents and the 7000 has more stability now.
Radeon HD 7950 G3D 3804 $339.99*
GeForce GTX 570 G3D 3635 $279.99*
Radeon HD 7870 G3D 3456 $299.99*
Radeon HD 7850 G3D 3253 $249.99*
Vs the GTI 560ti at standard clock of 2991
The i7 3820 is excellent where your goal is 3D imaging and intensive calculations, but typically you can get by without noticeable affect with a lower end CPU.
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
Intel Core i7-3820 @ 3.60GHz 9669$300
Intel Core i5-3550 @ 3.30GHz 7621$210
You can cut $90 out with 21% drop in the CPU which in system terms is about 3 to 4% overall, but should not impact games, and the extra $90 should bring your GPU up a notch or used in other things below. I don't think you need that speed level of memory. The i7-3820/i5-3550 can only use to -1600 anyway. If you cut the CPU a bit, you also change the motherboard to a socket 1155. The 2011 board has overclocking of memory and CPU, but Ivy Bridge does not take well to overclocking, and you are into top speed memory anyway. Cut back the motherboard and CPU. You are pointing to a $320 motherboard in a gaming system but only a $200 or so Graphics power. Not wise. Also, not sure how much DRAM, but 8GB does 98% and anything more is pretty marginal. Figure a $100 to $150 motherboard at 6gb/sec, solid capacitors, supporting RST(SRT) for a 30GB SSD and should have PCI 3.0 even if not using it yet. H77(no overclock on CPU single graphics card) or Z77 chipset
Power supply is overkill, but I like a good one, so I would leave it. 80+ gold is nice. They wear down over time anyway. Make sure the 12V amps are well over the GPU needs in a single rather than dual rail if not using crossfire/sli. you can check game-debate for the card needs.

The case is a good case, but I think may be a little low end for your setup. I like more fan capability than the two 120/140mm the one you show has. The USB 3.0 is good to match a motherboard. Won't be specific about cases because the look is personal, but get one with more fan mounting places and maybe including them. I say some showing decibels of fans.

Your setup can run every game on the market.
look at desktop CPU and games here:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
You should have ultra on everything but Witcher-2, and not sure why it takes high end SLI for ultra.

Case and system fans, motherboard, power supply, CPU+cooling, GPU (graphics), hard disk drive, optical drive, RAM Dimms, operating system, display, keyboard, mouse, audio output as speakers/headset.
You have left:
CPU cooling (you are going stock right now, hard disk drive, optical drive, operating system, display, keyboard, mouse, audio output as speakers/headset.
Other than changes recommended.
I like using Intel RST as a 30+GB HDD cache which I think also holds the operating system. Using a 1TB 7200 RPM Sata 3 64MB Cache, your choice of 2ms display-monitors highly rated at Newegg
You can even add in an audio card later.
That's about it for my input.
Reduce the CPU+MB to 1155 H77 chipset +i5 3550, cut the ram speed to -1600, boost the GPU+Case(or at least the case since the GPU is fine as is) and use HDD cache and a decent base one, a nice monitor, consider upgrade of the CPU fan and adding an audio card later
You don't need to raise the GPU to play anything out today on super settings top end. You could just rebalance your costs and come in a little cheaper. Your Arma 2 is an easy graphics. You are over the top already on it.

Building a gaming computer?

Q. Hi I am building my first gaming computer. Here are my parts that I am thinking about putting in:
Video Card:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130604
Hard Drive:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136769
Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042
Optical Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136247
Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271
CPU: hhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072

This totals up to be $750. I have a budget of about $800 I currently play games including: Minecraft, Team Fortress 2, and League of Legends, but I am considering to playing games (if I build this desktop) such as: COD 4 and BF3
Some questions that I have:
Am I missing any crucial parts?
Will this computer be able to handle those games?
Will I be able to use Screen Capture Software?
Are there any other better parts that you recommend?
Can I use this video card instead? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130625

Thanks!

Answer
Your build is an incredibly huge over-kill for those games. But if you're planning on playing more graphically demanding games like Metro 2033 or Crysis, it's fine.

You could get a build for much cheaper...

A build like this would be much more suitable for your needs:

Any good ds/3ds games out?

Q. I have a 3ds and want to get a game or two right now I have super street fighter 3d and splinter cell 3d and was wondering if there are any GOOD ds/3ds games out now if it helps I enjoy shooting action type games oh and I have pokemon black, so any suggestions?

Answer
I hope you are enjoying your 3DS :)

Anyway, there are many good games out for the DS and 3DS, it depends what you like. Here are some good games that are action/shooting games:

DS (these won't support 3D, but will probably be cheaper - most of these are action games, not shooters):

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword [DS]
Metroid Prime Hunters [DS]**
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks [DS]**
Final Fantasy IV [DS]
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum [DS]
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow [DS]
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies [DS]**
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass [DS]**
Pokemon HeartGold Version/Pokemon SoulSilver [DS]
Chrono Trigger [DS]
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars [DS]**
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare [DS]**

The games that I put ** next to are the ones I highly recommend, such as Grand Theft Auto, a game that lets you travel around a city doing whatever you want - steal cars, kill people, rob, play mini games, or do action packed missions. Another great one is Call of Duty 4. If you already have this for PC/PS3/360/Wii, then there is no point in getting this. If you don't, then this is a great shooting game to buy.

Now, here are some 3DS shooting/action games (these will have better graphics and 3D than the DS ones I mentioned above, but will probably be more expensive):

Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars [3DS] - This is a strategy game that involves commanding a squad of army troops from an overhead view.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D [3DS]** - This is more of a puzzle/adventure game, but it has action elements to it. It involves sword fighting, using bow and arrows, defeating great bosses and travelling through an ancient world completing quests and exploring dungeons.

Dead or Alive: Dimensions [3DS]** - This game is very similar to Street Fighter 4 for 3DS, but has some key differences. It is a fighting game too, but has different characters, a different story, different levels, different moves and different modes. It is more action-oriented than Street Fighter, so you might prefer this to it.

Star Fox 64 3D [3DS] - This game doesn't have the best graphics, story or online ever, but it is a very fun game. It is a shooting/action game where you control either a spaceship, submarine or tank and blast your way through countless enemies and memorable stages. It also features wireless play with up to 4 friends!

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D [3DS] - A shooting game where you have to defend against increasingly hard amounts of incoming enemies zombies. A lot of action in here.

Once again, games with ** are ones I highly recommend you check out. Now, there are also some great action games that haven't come out yet because the 3DS is quite new. Here are a list of upcoming 3DS games that have great action:

Resident Evil: Revelations** - This is a shooting game where you defend yourself against zombies and other creatures. Many people say this game has the best graphics on the 3DS, and I agree. (This is coming in early 2012)

Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D** - This is probably one of the most action filled games coming to the 3DS. It features an x-military soldier stranded in a jungle filled with military units. You must fight, sneak and blast your way out! (Coming in early 2012).

Kid Icarus: Uprising** - This is an action/shooting game that follows Pit, a hero who fights gigantic creatures and enemies. It is made by Nintendo, just like the Zelda games, so you know it will be good because they made the 3DS! (coming in early 2012).

Monster Hunter 4** - This is an action/adventure game that doesn't involve shooting, but offers great exploration and action packed gameplay of you fighting your way through monsters and dinosaurs. It features great graphics and online multiplayer play too! (coming late 2012).

Now, not all of the great games on the DS and 3DS are action/shooting games. Here are some games that I recommend you get that are not really action, but still amazing!:

Super Mario 3D Land (coming this November)
Mario Kart 7 (coming this December)
New Super Mario Bros. DS (already out)
Animal Crossing: Wild World (already out)
Kirby Mass Attack (already out)
Professor Layton (already out)
Pilotwings Resort (already out)
Ridge Racer 3D (already out)
Luigi's Mansion 2 (coming in mid-2012)
Driver: Renegade 3D (already out)

So there is a massive list of great games for DS, for 3DS, that are action-based and that are not action based. I have given you a lot of options and hope you look in to some of them and find something you like! Enjoy your Nintendo 3DS, and enjoy whatever games you end up buying! Hope I helped!

What PC game you think I should play next?

Q. Here are the games I've enjoyed on PC:

Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 4
Scribblenauts Unlimited
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
Hitman: Absolution
Limbo
Deadspace
Street Fighter x Tekken
The Sims 3
Devil May Cry 4
Guitar Hero World Tour
Mass Effect 2

- - -

I like action adventure games.
I kinda dislike high techy stuff although I've played ME2. And RPGs are not my fave kind of game.

Where to buy full PC Versions Games?

Hello there,

I'm finding retailing shops to feed my needs for this following games,
- Virtual Families
- Sally Spa
- Many more to be listed.

I saw internet selling them, but i'd rather buy them in the retail shops in Singapore.
Anybody know which shops in Singapore sell all these full versions games?

It normally costs, $29.90 or $19.90. Depends.
Thanks alot,
G.F.

Answer

Can someone please explain the final fantasy timeline? (ALL GAMES)?

Q. NOT the story timeline of all games
but like the release dates of like the early final fantasy games til the present ones
if you have the time maybe add the spin offs as well
also please if you can explain on how to acquire final fantasy 3 and 4, is it only on the ds and snes?

Answer
I will put original release date and system since many of the older games have been re-released for newer systems like ps3, ds, and as apps.
Final Fantasy 1: Dec 18, 1987, NES
Final Fantasy 2: Dec 17, 1988, NES (never released outside Japan)
Final Fantasy 3: Apr. 27, 1990, PC (never released outside Japan)
Final Fantasy 4: July 19, 1991, SNES/ PS1 (released as FF 2 in North America)
Final Fantasy 5: Dec. 6, 1992, SNES/ PS1
Final Fantasy 6: Apr. 2, 1994, SNES/ PS1 (originally released in North America as FF 3)
Final Fantasy 7: Jan. 31, 1997, PS1
Final Fantasy 8: Feb. 11, 1999, PS1
Final Fantasy 9: between July 7, 2000 and Feb. 22, 2001 depending on location, PS1
Final Fantasy 10: between July 19, 2001 and Jan. 31, 2002 depending on location, PS2
Final Fantasy 10-2: Mar. 13, 2003 to Feb. 20, 2004, PS2
Final Fantasy 11: May 16, 2002 to Sept. 17, 2004, PS2/ PC and Apr. 18-20 for Xbox 360
Final Fantasy 12: Mar. 16, 2006 to Aug. 7, 2007, PS2
Final Fantasy 13: Dec. 17, 2009 to Dec. 16, 2010, PS3/ Xbox 360
Final Fantasy 13-2: Dec. 15, 2011 to Feb. 3, 2012, PS3/ Xbox 360
Final Fantasy 14: Sept. 22, 2010, PC, to be released early next year for PS3

Final Fantasy 3 is for NES (in Japan), DS, iOS, and android.
Unless you mean what is actually Final Fantasy 6, that is for SNES, PS2, GBA, Virtual Console, and PSN.
Final Fantasy 4 is for SNEs, PS1, DS, GBA, PSP, Virtual Console, WonderSwan Colour, and FOMA.

That really is only a few of the games, there were so many spin offs and other versions of the series (eg. final fantasy crystal chronicles).

Have Fun

New MacBook Pros are coming out with IvyBridge processors by July. So waiting is basically pointless. Get it now, if you can wait for extra performance, less power consumption (by IvyBridge Processor) Also with a newly REdesigned aluminum unibody for macbook then wait.

Im thinking about building my first ever gaming pc...?

Ballsax

I live in the UK but im visiting the US for a few weeks. I was thinking, after i heard alot of good things about newegg.com, that I might take advantage of the cheaper prices in the US and go ahead and order all the parts to make a new gaming pc.

There are 2 problems, firstly my budget. I only have a budget of around $600 for ALL the parts including taxes and shipping. Secondly, I have absolutely no prior experience of making a PC.

I would like to play games like Crysis and COD MW2 (when its out) on the PC, so obviously for Crysis I need a decent graphics card.

With some links to the specific equipment on newegg.com, could some one please create a spec list for my budget and also I need to make sure that the PC can run in the UK so it needs to be 240v not the 110v they use over in the States.

The $600 dollar budget is non negotiable although it doesnt include the Monitor as ill be getting that at a later date.

So yeh thats pretty much it, if you can recommend any better sites than newegg.com (i.e. cheaper) that would be great aswell.

Thanks in advance.

Answer
Go to a bookstore--Barnes and Nobles, Books-a-Million, whatever maybe a Walmart might have one. You need to get a copy of PCGamer magazine. Now, they have two versions: one has a plastic bag on it and has a disk with demos of new games and all kinds of cool stuff and if you look hard enough you will find one without the bag and disk its cheaper. You might like the disk but what you REALLY want is in the back of the mag: a list of parts and where to order them on the net for 3 levels of gaming computer: inexpensive, middle range, and hard core gamer goodness. I haven't looked at it in a while but the cheaper one is about $350-500, middle range is $700-900, and super-duper is $1700-2000. They also have a tutorial in the back on how to build it. I know, I know, its way cool. The thing about finding the magazine without the bag on it is that you can read it in the store to see if it is what you need. These guys are really into this, so you might be able to email them about the power source and they will not only point you in the right direction but put your question in the magazine next month with your PHOTO your NAME in it too. How is THAT for a vacation in America?
I'm telling you they will have not only 3 different levels of gaming rig but where to order the parts down to numbers and address. Now they have an entire PCGamer magazine dedicated to building a gaming computer-a special issue and a section in each issue but if you go to the tech section of the bookstore you will find a couple of great books you will love--Building Computers for Dummies I think is one of them--don't laugh, you may actually learn something that will keep you from frying your expensive parts by mistake.
You will learn a great deal just by studying the three different levels of video cards in the 3 different types of computer, along with a number of other details that will definitely help you make up your mind on a number of different possibilities concerning what you are able to create on your budget. Oh, and one more thing, my dear unknown friend of England, go to a Barnes and Nobles if you can find one. You can buy a giant cup of coffee--Cafe Breve is my favorite, walk the stacks, sip your brew, they even have tea come to think of it, and find your magazine in the magazine section, find your relevant book in the science tech section, walk to a very nice desk, and if you brought pen and paper you can write down stuff and even draw diagrams if you like. If it takes a while they even have lovely sandwiches-if they have a cafe section-and most do.
Don't return to England without going to Barnes and Nobles my friend you will have an intellectual adventure to tell your friends at home about AND if you actually build your computer this way it will become part of a way cool story that will end with you at a monitor and the kind of pure gaming goodness you've always dreamed of. Good luck, God speed, and JUST ONE MORE TURN!

Build me the best gaming PC ever?

Q. I've done well at work this year, and let's just say I was lucky enough to get a... well... sizable bonus. I've been wanting to build an amazing gaming PC for a while now, and now I can! Please recommend the absolute best build I can do! Maybe make links to it if you can.

Don't worry about the price! ;) i want the absolute best performance, at whatever cost!

Is this a good Gaming PC for the money?

Q. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229322

I've looked in to it enough to know it should be able to play skyrim quite well

This is the computer:
CyberpowerPC Gamer Zeus System 1000T Desktop PC
Operating System: Windows 7 Home
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k(3.40GHz)
Memory: 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity
Sound: Integrated :c
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB
Premium Quad-Core 64-Bit

These are the specs to run Skyrim on high setting:
Operating System: Win XP/7
CPU: Quad-Core Intel/AMD CPU
Memory: 4GB RAM, 6GB Hard Drive Space
Sound: DirectX compatible sound card
Video Card: DirectX9 video card with 1GB memory. GTX 260/Radeon 4890 or higher

So what do you say? Should I wait it out and buy in the holiday season. Or bite on this deal. What would you do? Thanks!

Answer
@AIS - "At least" a GTX 680? what? The 680 is pretty much the best single GPU solution on the market... not to mention the most expensive. IMO, at the least he should have a midrange card such as an HD 6850 or GTX 460 (at the very lowest the HD 6770 / GTX 550 Ti).

--

That PC just barely meets the recommended system spec. The HD 7750 is just about equivalent to the HD 4870 or Nvidia equivalent GTX 550 Ti (which performs on spot with the GTX 260). It's definitely not even close to worth the price.

These three PCs outperform and are cheaper / about the same price:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229327
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229292
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227382
The best deal out of those 3 links would be the $820 machine for the HD 6870 + FX 8120.

Remember, gaming performance is nearly entirely based on the graphics card. A weak GPU = weak performance.

The best choice would be to build it yourself. Higher quality, higher performance, and cheaper price.

TOTAL : $819 ( $744 after rebate + SHIPPING), with this build you could play all games on high-max settings especially since the monitor that comes with this build has a decent resolution of 1366x768.

Newegg parts and prices.

EDIT : The I3-2120 is considered up until now the best budget processor for gaming mainly because up until now most games are still leaned on using 2 cores, there are actually only a few games that takes advantage of using 3-4 cores ( like civilization 5 ).

This link would support what I am saying:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-fx-pentium-apu-benchmark,3120.html

As you can see here, the I3-2100 performs way better than the FX cpu's and some phenom II cpu's which has 4 cores. Thus I always that the I3-2120 is a good processor for gaming PROVIDED that you compliment it with a very decent mid range GPU like the HD 6850 / HD 6870 / GTX 560 / GTX 560 ti and it would not result in bottlenecking.

Build a Budget Gaming PC?

Q. I'm hoping to build a new Gaming Computer by the end of the 2013 year. Currently, I'm either playing the Xbox 360, or playing on a crappy Intel Celeron B820. Obviously, that laptop isn't meant for gaming. I want something that can handle games like The Elder Scrolls on medium-high settings with a solid framerate. (Definitely want to play the upcoming ESO on the top settings on the new rig)

I will be building my own PC to save the money (and put it towards better parts). So the first question is: is newegg.com really the place to go? It seems that in every forum I have gone to, newegg is mentioned at least 5 times.

The real question here is this: what parts are the best bang for the buck for a budget of around $800?
And if it's worth it to pay extra, be sure to put that in your answer. Just let me know how much of a difference an extra $50+ would make to the overall machine.

So if you could, go ahead and name all the parts (cpu, gpu, motherboard, case, an on for every single thing I will need) for that price range. Also, I would appreciate if you could say how much of an upgrade one thing is to another (4GB of RAM compared to 8GB, etc)

Lastly, I've heard people saying that dual-core processors wont be able to run games in the future...so how long will the parts I get last in your opinions.

And of course, the true PC test..."Will it run Crysis 3?"

Thanks so much everyone. Yahoo Answers is truly the best!

Answer
Ok, because of the variety of options I will just give a run down without going through and picking every part out for you to give you a understanding. Newegg is a good place to go along with Amazon. I have prime on Amazon, so I purchase almost everything on Amazon. If your mainly using the build for gaming look to spend more money on a graphics card. I have a 660 Ti and it runs Crysis 3 well along with Battlefield 3. I never played The Elder Scrolls, but you could look up benchmarks. I would stick with 8GB RAM, no more is really needed, you probably won't even use 8GB. For the CPU go with like a 3570K or something similar. With Haswell releasing, maybe come back to it since your not building until the end of the year. I'm not sure what your question is about "how much of an upgrade one thing is to another"... I mean, 4GB compared to 8GB, there is a upgrade, it's double the RAM. Hopefully this gave you an idea to think about, I'm sure new stuff (such as haswell) will release around June, but email me with any questions!

What desktop to buy for gaming?

Q. I want a desktop pc for games like skyrim and call of duty, but i can't seem to find a decent one for under £350. Can anyone help?

Answer
Something like this if you can build your own and even that's £385. I can't see a way lower than that and still have even a bottom-rung gaming PC. Really, you need to start in the £450-500 range to get an decent machine.

How do I build/customize/modify my laptop for gaming?

Q. I want a gaming laptop but they cost no less than $1000 and my dad says he will only pay $500 and i would have to pay the rest, but I don't have more than $400 so...
I want to build or customize or modify my laptop when I get one (probably in a month) so I would probably buy a $500 or $600 laptop with a decent system.
What laptop should I buy for this?
What should I change about it and how?
Write extra important stuff as well please!

Answer
In case you are looking for a laptop to play high definition games then you might need a laptop that comes with extremely strong processor and good graphics card. Now you must be thinking that this kind of laptop might cost you a lot, well if it was 2010 then sure, but now in 2013 you can get a powerful gaming laptop for as low as $500. Here, in this article weâre going to show you 10 cheap gaming laptops that you could get for under $500. Many people still think that cheap laptops canât deliver what it requires to play latest games as desktop pc but in reality they both are the same and have same processor within them.
the following laptop will be suitable for you!
Laptops from HP Envy series have always been on top in many of my lists already and here we go again, HP Envy dv6-7210us is on the second spot in our list of cheap gaming laptops. It totally deserves that due to its low price and latest hardware specs, it comes with 6GB RAM, AMD Quad Core processor of 1.9 GHz, 750 GB hard drive and of course Windows 8. Besides performance, sleekness and style is what makes it so perfect and totally worth, it is also very much lightweight and can be easily compared with top notch ultrabook. So, if these specs are good enough for you and can afford to pay $500 for it then youâre definitely going to enjoy playing games on it.

What would be the best gaming desktop I could buy under $1000?

Q. I'm not trying to run Crysis 2 on high detail or anything super crazy like that. I just wanna be able to run games like Cod, Team Fortress, Left for Dead, etc without any problems. Any suggestions?

Answer
$1000 will get you to Crysis 2 on max settings with no problems.

Take a look at these builds.

http://gamingrig.blogspot.com/2011/07/800-gaming-pc-july-2011.html

Both cost around ~$800. Add a 1080p monitor from Samsung or Asus for around $200 and you are set.

Answer
A personal computer game (also known as a computer game or simply PC game) is a game played on a personal computer, rather than on a video game console or arcade machine. Computer games have evolved from the simple graphics and gameplay of early titles like Spacewar!, to a wide range of more visually advanced titles.[1]

PC games are created by one or more game developers, often in conjunction with other specialists (such as game artists) and either published independently or through a third party publisher. They may then be distributed on physical media such as DVDs and CDs, as Internet-downloadable shareware, or through online delivery services such as Direct2Drive and Steam. PC games often require specialized hardware in the user's computer in order to play, such as a specific generation of graphics processing unit or an Internet connection for online play, although these system requirements vary from game to game.
Early growth
Spacewar!, developed for the PDP-1 in 1961, is often credited as being the first ever computer game. The game consisted of two player-controlled spaceships maneuvering around a central star, each attempting to destroy the other.

Although personal computers only became popular with the development of the microprocessor, mainframe and minicomputers, computer gaming has existed since at least the 1960s. One of the first computer games was developed in 1961, when MIT students Martin Graetz and Alan Kotok, with MIT employee Steve Russell, developed Spacewar! on a PDP-1 computer used for statistical calculations.[2]

The first generation of PC games were often text adventures or interactive fiction, in which the player communicated with the computer by entering commands through a keyboard. The first text-adventure, Adventure, was developed for the PDP-11 by Will Crowther in 1976, and expanded by Don Woods in 1977.[3] By the 1980s, personal computers had become powerful enough to run games like Adventure, but by this time, graphics were beginning to become an important factor in games. Later games combined textual commands with basic graphics, as seen in the SSI Gold Box games such as Pool of Radiance, or Bard's Tale.

By the mid-1970s, games were developed and distributed through hobbyist groups and gaming magazines, such as Creative Computing and later Computer Gaming World. These publications provided game code that could be typed into a computer and played, encouraging readers to submit their own software to competitions.[4]

Microchess was one of the first games for microcomputers which was sold to the public. First sold in 1977, Microchess eventually sold over 50,000 copies on cassette tape.

[edit] Industry crash
Main article: Video game crash of 1983

As the video game market became flooded with poor-quality games created by numerous companies attempting to enter the market, and over-production of high profile releases such as the Atari 2600 adaptation of E.T. and Pacman grossly underperformed, the popularity of personal computers for education rose dramatically. In 1983, consumer interest in console video games dwindled to historical lows, as interest in computer games rose.[5]

The effects of the crash were largely limited to the console market, as established companies such as Atari posted record losses over subsequent years. Conversely, the home computer market boomed, as sales of low-cost color computers such as the Commodore 64 rose to record highs and developers such as Electronic Arts benefited from increasing interest in the platform.[5]

The console market experienced a resurgence in the United States with the release of the Nintendo Entertainment System. In Europe, computer gaming continued to boom for many years after.

buying a gaming desktop pc.?

i want to buy a gaming desktop for under 800$. building one is not an option. if you can give me names of pcs that are great for gaming.

Answer
ibuypower makes some decent affordable gaming pcs.

for example this one is decent and pretty cheap. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibuypower-GAMER528EX-Gamer-528ex-Quad-Core-9550-2-2GHz-8GB-Desktop-/400248217999?pt=Desktop_PCs&hash=item5d30a7218f copy and paste I guess. Just get an ibuypower from a top rated seller.

any of the ibuypowers with a quad-core cpu and graphics card and 4 or more gigs of ram will probably be fine for you.

Heres another pretty good one for right under 800 http://www.ebay.com/itm/iBUYPOWER-Gamer-Extreme-932i-Desktop-PC-Intel-Core-i5-2400-3-10GHz-4GB-DDR-/300611987370?pt=Desktop_PCs&hash=item45fddee7aa

the basics are quad-core cpu is helps, 1gig graphics card is good, 4 to 8 gigs of ram all together works well. as for specifics Intel's core 2 series of dual and quad cores are great and their icore 5 or higher are great, amd phenom tri core and quad core are fine and as for specific graphics cards theres just too many to say but having a graphics card with 1gb of dedicated is more then enough for most games.

To be honest for gaming the most important is a decent graphics card and 4 or more gigs of ram, even a decent dual core cpu would be fine in most cases.

What PC gaming desktop is better then the PS4?

Q. I was going to buy the PS4 but you have to pay for multiplayer, and I know for PC you don't. So what PC gaming desktop can run big games like Battlefield 4 or GTA V when it comes out for PC, and if your going to say built one, I don't know how to like I don't know alot about PC I'm kinda of a beginner.

Answer
All PC desktops are better for gaming, because they can be easily updated and upgraded as you see fit. Look at the Xbox 360 and PS3... while they still play games just fine, you are stuck with what was in the box the day you opened it for hardware. The games are still written for that level of hardware.

With a PC, your video get to slow with a new game? Upgrade the video card. Not enough storage space for games? Add another terabyte or two of space, in 5 minutes. The PC platform is vastly superior to the console platform, and will be for quite some time.
