Building a gaming pc on a budget?

drakenkaon

Hallo guys

i have no experience in building computers, but i want a better pc now, so i thought of building one. I want to use it mostly for gaming, It needs to be able to run games like starcraft 2 and mass effect 3 on max graphics without lag. Within those specs i want the cheapest system possible. Without sacrificing too much performance of course. Is there good website that offers an up to date build on this? And also a tutorial on how to make this pc? and last but not least: a cheap website in holland/the cheapest website that ships to holland.

Answer
If you're looking to play Starcraft 2 then you'll want a Core i3 2100 or 2120 as your CPU.

Core i3 2120 the best budget gaming processor on the market. And in CPU-intensive titles like SC2, Intel's processors perform significantly better than anything from AMD (even high-end ones).

Even the Core i5 750 (which is a generation old, and below the performance of a Core i3 2100) beats all of AMD's CPUs when it comes to that specific game:

I'm not sure about PC merchants in your area (USA here). Ebuyer and Aria are goods source for parts in the UK, you may want to check their shipping restrictions.

Hopefully someone in Holland will know of some places local or with even better prices.

Here are some good builder's guides:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i5-overclock-performance-gaming,3097.html

In the intro to the Tom's Hardware article, they explain their rationale for going with the Core i5 2400 (which is about $65 more expensive than a Core i3 2120). They were concerned with the Core i3's lackluster performance on multi-threaded benchmarks suite test software, not actual games! The fact is that even 3 months later, the Core i3 is fine even in titles like Battlefield 3 and Skyrim, provided you're playing on high settings or lower.

Most games don't utilize more than 2-3 cores anyway. Now don't misunderstand- the Core i5 2400 (or even Core i5 2320) is a much better processor but for gaming it's the GPU that matters most, not your CPU. And when you're on a tight budget you cannot beat the bang/buck of a Core i3 21xx.

Pair that CPU with a Radeon HD 6870 and you'll be in great shape.

Good luck!

What is the best pre built gaming pc of 2012 I can find in stores?

Answer
HI, so im not sure what your budget is but if its in the range of about 800-1000 check out this link,
http://www.mycustombuild.com/reckless-conservative.html
Its a really solid computer with all the specs you need ( i suggest getting either Option B or D). You say your not ready to build a pc? this site is for people EXACTLY like you they build custom pc's for gaming and they actually do it very well compared to most.
If you can spend a little more check this one out too.

It also can play BF3 but should be able to play it at around ultra instead of maybe medium-high settings! hope this helped and i hope to see you online!!
