What is wrong with my computer?!!!?

Q. Okay so today I was playing a game on the computer. I put the computer in sleep mode for like 20 mins and then when I went back to the computer I tried to click on one of my desktop icons but every time i clicked on an icon it just kept disappearing until I had no more icons left. The task bar even disappeared! So I had nothing left but my wallpaper and when I did CNTRL-ATL-DELETE to get to my login screen, I got an error message. So i held the computer's power button so it can turn off. When unturned it back on it said "DISK BOOT FAILURE". So I got my dad to put the Windows 7 disk in the computer and the setup screen had came up but my dad said it wasn't working. So he kept reinserting the disk and came to the conclusion that the hard drive went out. Now keep in mind. We just got this computer over the summer in 2012 in like June/ July. He literally built the computer with his hands. Nothing was wrong with it until now. Everything is new except the mouse, keyboard, and monitor. We even upgraded to windows 7 from XP like 3 weeks ago. What is wrong which my desktop computer? If the hard drive did go out will my files still be saved on my computer because I didn't even have a chance to back up anything.

SPECS:
DESKTOP Computer
Windows 7
Built the computer over the summer
GIGABYTE computer
( idk much about the computer but this is all the info I know by heart)

Answer
You answered your own question: the computer won't boot.
So either nuke the hard drive and reinstall Windows 7, since it sounds like something in the OS or a sector got messed up, or replace the hard drive.

What would be a good desktop computer for me?

pup_e_paws

Umm, I'm not a serious gamer or anything, but I play the Sims 3 and I have all the expansions for it, and I play the Sims Medievel. I am looking for a desktop computer that can handle that, but that isn't too pricey. The most I'm willing to pay is $600. My friend bought her computer for $300 and she plays the same games as me as well as Skyrim, so don't tell me that I won't find a computer within that budget. I just would like to know what brand is best. Thanks!

Answer
Well, the problem with a prebuilt system, even for minor gaming use...
is that they all come with integrated graphics OR a seriously crippled dedicated graphics card.
Even for Sims use, I would recommend you build your own system.
http://www.hardware-revolution.com/budget-gaming-pc-july-2012/
Check out tier ".75" at the link above. With an OEM copy of Windows 7, the cost to build will be just over $500...and the performance will literally CRUSH the $300 computer that your friend bought.

But if you aren't ambitious enough to build your own system, the best you can do is buy a pre-built system and add a decent graphics card to it.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103455
That's a good brand with very good specifications, other than lacking a video card. So...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150581
There's a very high quality video card that will give you a good gaming experience, cheap. And it has a low-profile bracket included, so it should fit the case of the Acer system linked above.
Total cost about $430. It would be tough to beat that for value. You'd have to build your own, to do it...

Answer
you probably need to upgrade graphics. I suggest a Radeon 5450 for games such as League of Legends. Nothing very over the top, it will give your LoL around 40-50fps on medium and high should be around the 30-40 FPS which is playable.

Most ordinary laptops will do what you want but usually the sound is not great. I think you can now get a decent sound card built into a usb stick which should sound better. What PC games with customization would you recommend me?

Confused

I'm interested in finding some games that have fun customization (any combination of the following: weapon/gear loadout, class, party members, sortie & even cosmetic).

I'm down for any kind of genre really, but TRPG > RPG > RTS > FPS/TPS > Fighting.

Reference Games:
XCOM: Enemy Unknown, TRPG (2012)
TerraPhoenix, TRPG (2008)
Dragon Age: Origins, RPG (2009)**
The Last Remnant, RPG (2008)
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II, TRPG/RTS (2009)**
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, TRPG (2003)
Champions of Norrath, RPG (2004)**
Soul Calibur 3, Fighting (2005)
The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II, RTS (2006)
Conflict: Desert Storm, TTPS (2002)
Monsters' Den, TRPG (2007)
Front Mission 4, TRPG (2004)
... etc

*Not all are PC, but good reference games nonetheless.
**Assume inclusion of sequels/DLC/expansions.
@jvpandas I've had my fun with Skyrim already unfortunately.

@FreeTheCats I don't think I'll play the hat simulator, but thanks.

Answer
Skyrim- This is one of the games that have the most detailed customization! And the gameplay is amazing as well. You can change the appearance, the armor, and the weapons, too!

I am thinking of buying a gaming pc. I am willing to spend up to around 1000 dollars(or more if necessary) I want it to play games like minecraft or call of duty. I want something so I can play if no lag. Or even record... I dont know much about computers do I don't know what I should be looking for in a computer. If i could get a link to a great one to buy it would be nice. Or even a list of things to look for. Thanks!
Also where should i buy it?

Answer
Processor: Intel Core i5 2500K or AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition.

Hard Drive: 500GB or 1TB

RAM: DDR3 4GB would be sufficient but 8GB wouldn't hurt.

Graphic Card: GTX 560 Ti or the GTX 570 would do.

PSU (Power Supply Unit): 700W or 650W. (PSU is needed to power up the graphic card.)

Gaming Cabinet: Any cabinet would do, but a gaming cabinet has a pretty better built in cooling system. iBall's 'Thunder Bolt' cabinet is pretty sweet.

Mother Board: If your going to get the AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition, then get the ASUS M5A88M. If going for the Intel Core i5 2500K, then get the ASUS P8H 67-MLX.

You'll need a sound card and a pair of speakers.

A UPS.

A Monitor. I recommend Dell monitors.

A mouse and a keyboard.

I am just now looking into pc gaming and I wanted to know what laptop specs I should look for so that I can play most pc games. I would be looking to play popular console games, nothing too complicated.

I would also like to know if pc gaming would deliver the same quality of gaming as consoles. Do pc games lag or have any notable limitations or setbacks? Would any laptops under $600 or $500 suffice for good & reliable pc gaming?

Answer
A REALLY good laptop could be a Sony VPCEG27FM Notebook PC! it's really good and it's about 300 or 200 dollars. It can support over 300 games

Can anyone help me to pick a gaming PC from eBay for under $600?

B.B. Gun

Looking for a complete PC (all parts and an OS) for under $600 capable of at least mid - high gaming graphics. The thing is that I don't know a ton about computers. I'm buying this as a gift for my nephew, and I've personally been using the same PC for going on seven years just fine. I know it's asking a lot of anyone to find me a PC considering the tremendous amounts listed on eBay, but it'd be appreciated if you could at least steer me in the right direction.

Answer
Don't buy a PC or PC parts from Ebay...

http://www.newegg.com/

That's a far superior site when it comes to price and quality. Also, gaming on mid to high quality isn't cheap. $600 will get you an "okay" computer.

That should work just fine for your budget and his gaming needs.

What parts should I buy to build a budget gaming PC?

Tidus

So I'm thinking of getting a new PC to put in my room for a bit more privacy when gaming (my old one is in the living room). I already bought a decent entry-level graphic card, the Radeon HD 6850 and a power supply powerful enough to handle it and installed them into my old PC so I won't need to buy those. What I need are parts for the PC (excluding the two I mentioned above) that fits into my budget, or around 700 dollars, and a decent gaming keyboard, mechanical and/or backlit if possible. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thank you!!

Answer
I've been wanting to build a powerful, budget gaming pc lately. I did a little research and here are some cost effective parts.

Processor AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core - $174.15 - This processor consistently ranks high in performance and will not cost a ridiculous amount of money.

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard - $94.99 - You need a compatible motherboard for your processor and this one has some nice features.

Kingston Hyper X Genesis 16GB Kit (4x4GB Modules) 2133MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL11 DIMM XMP Desktop Memory - $114.99 - 16GB will easily handle all games currently on the market. I don't remember if these fit your motherboard, so you might want to doublecheck.

So you're 384.13 for the basics. You've probably already got a case, hard drive, dvd drive from your old computer. But if you wanted you could throw down for a new case with backlighting. But if I were you, I'd invest the remaining money into a SSD hard drive. Their capacities are low but their transfer rates blow traditional hard drives. If you want things to load up fast, this will give you the extra push.

Good luck!

What Desktop Should I Get On A Budget?

Confused G

I want to get a new Desktop for gaming such as Sims 3 etc. My budget is around £400 to £600. Any help will be greatly appreciated, any links you can give me will be very helpful too, thank you.
Need everything including Monitor Mouse Keyboard.

Answer
You'll get a lot better pc for your money if you build it as opposed to buying one already made. Building is actually the fun part, the toughest part is choosing the best parts for your budget. You've included a budget, which is a good start but within that budget, do you require a monitor, mouse and keyboard as well or do you have those already?

Add this information to your question, and i'll make a shopping list of the parts I'd recommend ;)

Edit: I've made two lists for you. One is without the monitor, the keyboard and the mouse but the other one is a complete pc with a slower graphics card to stay within your budget.

Build 1: Complete pc with accessories: http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/8832/600completepc.jpg

Build 2: Desktop tower only: http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/8923/600toweronly.jpg

Building a pc is a lot easier than you think. Theres no soldering required. Just some screwdrivers and about 3 hours (thats how long it took for me to build my first pc). Instruction manuals are supplied with the case and the power supply and theres hundreds of useful youtube videos as well showing step by step how to build. If you have a spare computer to hand, you can copy exactly what they do on the video ;)

As for the machines, both will be more than capable of running the Sims 3 smoothly but Build 2, will run every game you throw at it on max graphics settings!

Hope i've helped ;)

Wait! U Ma

Everytime I try to buy some suround sound headphones, I see that most of the suround sound headphones are gaming headphones. Is that the same, can I remove the microphone that's attached to the headphones or am i just unlucky to find some nice headphones. What do you reccomand?

Answer
I'm not sure if you're looking for gaming headphones, headsets, or just awesome headphones. you didn't specify a price range either so here goes..

surround sound headphones are a joke. Instead get headphones that has a wide "soundstage".

However, headphones with good soundstages tend to be open headphones, making them non-ideal for public use since they leak sound out and in.

if you game with a console and headphones, i suggest the audio technica ad700 + astro mixamp.
example here(watch that video with headphones for a demonstration): http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-updated-4-12-2012-akg-q701-added

if you game with a pc, then makes sure you have a good soundcard, external or not.

if you were just looking for regular headphones, the soundstage thing is the closest thing you will get to speaker sound on a headphone.

headphones with good soundstages: (most of these headphones are $200 and above)
beyerdynamic dt880/t1(open)
sennheiser hd558/598/700/800(open headphones)
akg q701(open headphones)
audio technica ad700(open headphones)
v-moda m-80 (closed headphones. good soundstage relative to other closed headphones, but not against open headphones ofc. also very portable/durable/stylish!)

research material:

best of luck!

Can the X31 Turtle Beach Wireless Gaming Headset be used on the computer as a mic also?

best wireless gaming headset xbox pc on ... BEATS Headphones | ipad WIRELESS headphones | BEST Wireless Headphones
best wireless gaming headset xbox pc image

RedNBlueAl

I would like to make commentaries on my Xbox 360 games, but I do not have a mic. My headset's cheaper model, the X1's can be used on the computer, but the X31's cannot be. How do I connect it to the computer so I can talk into the mic for commentaries?

Thanks in advance.

Answer
You can connect the PC sound card output to the X31 transmitter input and hear the PC sound. To connect the mic, you'll need to connect an XBOX wired controller to the PC USB port and connect the headset to the controller with the talkback cable.

In February, Turtle Beach plans to offer a splitter cable to connect the headset directly to the PC mic input so you won't need the controller. Check the accessories section of the X31 web pages for details when it's available in February. Here's the link where it will be posted as soon as it becomes available:

What type of headset for X-Box 360 is best, Turtle Beach or Gamecom?

Holly Prin

I want to buy my brother a new gaming headset (Turtle Beach) for his Xbox 360 for his birthday. Right now he has a Gamecom headset that he uses for his computer but I think he can use it for his Xbox too. So if Gamecom is better than Turtle Beach I won't buy him a new headset, but if it is, then I will. So which is better, Turtle Beach or Gamecom?

Answer
For console usage Turtle beach headsets are very good. I'll recommend a Turtle Beach headset, which is compatible with Xbox console, with surround sound. Here is a very good actual user comment on the headset, talking about it very good feature and very good performance:
http://www.amazon.com/review/R291GRC2PECI3H/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00B3PDHBU&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=armas9-20

This is probably one of few headsets which is best for console usage. They are wireless and offer great sound and some very cool features. However if you are looking for a cheap priced and good quality headsets for Xbox 360 then I would suggest you check out Ear force XP400 (wireless, surround sound), Ear force X32 (wireless), Ear force PX22 (Wired), X12(wired) headsets. All of these headsets are from Turtle beach and are good headsets which are relatively cheap in price and offer good features for their price range.

Regarding Gamecom headset I am not sure which model you are talking about if you talking about Plantronics Gamecom 780 then I am afraid it is for PC usage only and might not be compatible with Xbox. Some of Gamecom headsets are very good so if you mention the model it would be more easy to compare. Company wise TB headsets are very good for console usage and people prefer them for such. However for PC Plantronics headsets are very good. Both these companies have produced some outstanding headsets for usage on different devices like plantronics have produced some outstanding headsets for usage in call centers where as TB has some great headsets for gaming usage. .

Can use my computer and ps3 on July 9th?

I'm not a computer savvy guy! My dns is fine on both my laptop and desktop.
I'm currently playing through a game and I usually check my computer for a tip every now and then.
Will it be safe for me to have my ps3 and laptop on at midnight???

Answer
Yes... you can have both on and everything will be fine.

Many people seem to be misunderstanding the impact of the DNS Changer rootkit. If you were affected by what will happen on Monday, you WERE ALREADY infected. In fact, it's possible you were infected for many months or more!

There IS NOT a new virus going out on Monday that is going to crash the web.

What actually happened is back in November of 2011, the FBI raided the offices of a group that was responsible for the DNS Changer rootkit. If your computer was infected by this malware, your legitimate DNS entries would be changed to fake DNS entries that pointed to this group's illegal DNS servers. From there, they could capture and monitor much of your Internet traffic.

When the FBI raided those facilities, they didn't want to just turn everything off; this would have crippled infected users immediately. So they setup a bunch of proxy DNS servers, using the DNS Changer IP Addresses, so infected computers could still reach the Internet and use the provided tools to clean infected systems.

What is happening on Monday is the FBI is finally going to shut down those proxy DNS servers. Anyone infected with the DNS Changer rootkit who hasn't cleaned their computers will not be able to access the Internet. NOT because they pick up some new infection, but rather because they never bothered to clean up an infection that was ALREADY there.

If your computer has passed the DNS test, you're OK! You'll have no issues if you're on the Internet at midnight.

Hope that helped!

Should i get an iphone or is there any other cheap good android phones?

Brad Arche

Answer
get a droid phones, and with a app called "double twist" you can sync all your itunes music to your android,
http://www.tested.com/news/the-best-android-phone-for-your-network-july-2011/2660/

I prefer android over apple for the reason that its open-source, that means that the majority of the apps are free, and you get more revolutionary and cutting edge apps, and do things are even only barely available on a jail broken iphone
The android market already has 250000 apps- closing in on apple 500000; some say it will surpass it before the year is over. Also any popular iphone game or game adaptation can be found in the android market for free.
Another great thing about android as that if you dont like something (keyboard, homescreen, etc.) it can easily be swapped without jail-breaking, unlike the iphones one-size-fits-all approach.

Despite the false rumors, The iphone is also just as, if not more vulnerable to viruses as android
http://www.pcworld.com/article/183763/experts_not_surprised_by_iphone_malicious_app_report.html
Other features only on android
Turn-by-turn voice GPS

Apple lovers that say that the iphone is made of better quality material? They donât realize that Samsung, an android phone maker, supplyâs the screen, processor and memory for apple devices, so android has the advantage here.
The iphone is pretty, but not durable, drop it once- it breaks, all that glass around it? That was honestly a mistake. Android manufactures clearly saw that, and decided to do with something a little more durable.

And the iphones âretina displayâ is a huge scam. By definition a âretina displayâ is one where the human eye cannot distinguish individual pixels. But this is determined by several factors; most important being the distance between the screen and your eyes. The iphones retina distance is 12in, move any closer than that- say 7in and itâs no longer a âretina screenâ because your eyes can now see the pixels, by that same token, if I move my android phone back, to say 16-17in, amazingly, it becomes a retina screen as well! (feel free to google this)

Also apple never invents anything, there never âthe firstâ. All they do is steal old technology, give it a fresh coat of paint and mass advertise it as âmagicalâ and âinnovatingâ, thus fooling the mass of the population into believing that apple offers cutting edge technology, that in fact has been around for quite a few years.
So instead of innovating, apple actually hinders technology- after 4 years they still have low-power single core phones, while android, an example of technology in overdrive, has rumored that, after their second year, the release of quad core phones that will surpass even some desktop computers in shear processing power. (now any 2011 android is smoother and faster than the iphone)

Apple should now feel pretty worried; android has passed it in market share
http://www.businessinsider.com/android-iphone-market-share-2011-4

Then apple panics and sues
http://www.dailytech.com/Google+ExCEO+Apple+Doesnt+Innovate+They+Sue/article22190.htm
The funny thing is that apple canât sue for being the first touchscreen or tablet, because they werenât,(Nokia fist touch screen, âarchosâ first tablet) so instead they sue for much more relevant things like, âthe rounded icon cornersâ and âhaving a flat screenâ or âthe square shape of the phoneââ¦â¦..

To top it all, if youâve seen apples 2011 presentation, they blatantly copied over five "new" features that were previously on android.
http://androidandme.com/2011/06/news/five-features-in-ios-5-that-show-how-apple-is-now-playing-catch-up-to-google/
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/06/apple-introduces-ios5-with-notifications-ota-updates-and-tabbed-browsing-android-users-giggle-at-their-late-arrival/
1. Notification bar
2. Twitter integration
3. No need to connect to PC to sync
4. Launch apps from lock screen
5. Tabbed browsing

And not only are they copies, but apple didnât even bother to improve, or change some of them in any way- some even have LESS features than their android counter parts, itâs basically a cheap imitation with the ever-popular iphone skin.
According to Steve jobs, these "revolutionary" new technologies that android users had since 2007 will be available on IOS5, and it would not surprise me to see some more android features from 2008 on IOS6.But the truly sad part is that due to apples marketing, in a few months, apple lovers will really think that apple invented those features and call android the copycatsâ¦yet again.

Though I suppose Google shouldâve seen it comingâ¦.

âGood artists copy great artist stealâ- Steve jobs (apple CEO)

It is a Samsung Series 7 Gamer, bought for about $1900 new in July of last year (2012)
Has about 6 months remaining on warranty.

I ask because I planned on selling it and wanted to get a fair price for it. Most informative/ helpful answer gets 10 points!

Answer
Looks like Amazon is selling them used for $1450. You'll have to sell for less than that because your return policy isn't quite as good as Amazon's, so people are more likely to buy from Amazon than from you. You might get $1200 if you're lucky.

best gaming pc under 600 dollars image

Gage

Okay so I am a thirteen year old kid who has saved up six hundred dollars to buy a gaming computer... The only question I have is, what computer should I get that runs at least 60-70 fps in skyrim and battlefield 3 for under 600 dollars? Any ideas?

Answer
I'd get this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229285

It'll do what you want.

Those people who are saying you're out of your mind are idiots. Battlefield 3 can be run easily on a $600 pc if the graphics are all turned down to low.

Building a pc would probably let you run the game on medium settings, or save you a hundred. I built my PC for $1100 to run it on ultra, and I'm 16. Just watch tutorial videos, like the How to Build a Computer series on Newegg's youtube channel.

What is the best gaming PC i could make under $1200?

Mr J X

Hey Yahoo people!

I've recently become interested in making my own Gaming PC, but I'm not the biggest brain when it comes to building computers.

My biggest concern as of now is: How can I know if my power supply can handle the things that I'm gonna put into it?

If you can recommend some tools to figure it out, or provide some useful tips, feel welcome to do so!

Thanks for now.

Answer
Here's a Power Supply calculator. Add 100 Watts or so on top of what it tells you just to be safe, and don't go below 500 Watts for a gaming computer.

How good of a gaming pc is this so far?

Marcoz

I am planning on building my own gaming pc to handle games like Skyrim and Far Cry 3 on ultra or high settings. So far these are the parts I am choosing to buy.
-AMD FX-8320 Vishera CPU
-ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0 Motherboard
-Radeon HD 7950 Graphics Card
-Crucial Ballistix Tactical DDR3 8gb 1600 Ram
-Seagate Barracuda 1tb 7200RPM Hard Drive
-Seasonic G 550w Power Supply
-Asus BW-14D1XT Optical Drive
-Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler
Are the parts I have chosen compatible with each other? And if they are how would you rank the pc these parts would build on a scale of 1-10. 10 being amazing, and 1 being piece of crap. And if you guys have suggestions for me for different parts I could get instead of the ones I have chosen to make my pc more powerful without costing me a lot more please let me know. Thanks guys any advice is appreciated.

Hello, I am thinking of building my own computer for perhaps, under 800 dollars. I will be using the computer for light gaming. Please include the case, fans, keyboard, and speaker in the part list, and make sure all the parts could be bought in stores like NCIX, CanadaComputers, and Tigerdirect. Thanks!
It would be best if it's your own computer. I want to be 100% sure the parts are compatiable. Sorry for the trouble!

What's a good list of computer components for a budget gaming pc?

Waffle-ato

I need help picking out parts for a desktop gaming computer that won't break the bank. Budget wise, I want to stay under 700 or 800 dollars. I kind of want to run graphically intense games like Skyrim on decent settings. I also want a fast processor to do all of this. If anyone who is an "expert or good" with this kind of stuff I would really appreciate tips about the subject. If possible could i have a list of parts/components to work with and instructions to build... thanks

Answer
This is what I could come up for you. What you could do initially is spend a bit more on the core specs of the system and temporarily use the integrated graphics (which really is not made for gaming) on the CPU then you could upgrade to a better graphics card later (That's what I did). So if you can wait longer to game on it then that would be your best bet.

Also alot of these have mail-in-rebates so you can save money as long as you buy them before they expire, and then there are promo codes but newegg will only allow 1 promo per order. With Windows 7 64-bit OEM it might be a bit over budget initially maybe as much as 20$ after promo minus the rebates if you catch those. If you decide to do this you need to download the PDF's for the rebates before then expire which can be found on the item page. here are the instructions...

#1 Click on where it says "after mail-in rebate card"
#2 Click "print rebate" (you need adobe acrobat reader)
#3 Either print (printer icon) ,and, or save (the floppy disk icon) the pdf file to your documents folder

I've been looking over websites like TigerDirectBlog, DigitalStorm, CyberPowerPC, and some other sites. However, they only have a limited range of cases available. Does anyone know a site where I can custom build my own Gaming PC with a mid Corsair 800D case?

Thanks!

Answer
Often the "barebones" set-ups don't offer all the best components...your best bet is to pick parts individually. try newegg.com they are fast, reliable...little or no BS advertising. If you insist on that case...here it is...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139001...or you can get the open box...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139001R

What gaming PC allows you to add a PS3 or Xbox 360 to your tower?

baddawg121

I know that you can make your own PC tower and add a PS3 or 360 to it. However, it'll be a lot of work. I know that there's one on sale on some website where you can add a PS3 or 360 to a gaming PC as part of it's tower. Anyone heard of it?

Answer
I don't know any towers that are actually made for this, you would probably have to custom build one.

Just remember, you will need space for 2 motherboards if you want to add it to a tower that also has PC components, and enough space for expansion cards and such. Don't forget about very good cooling, placing PS3 or XBOX 360 components into a case with PC parts is going to create a lot of heat. Wii would probably be a much more simpler system, very small components, and very minimal heat.

You would need to drill custom holes for any game console motherboard, and also accommodate for different hard drive size, PS3 and XBOX 360 both use 2.5 inch hard drives, while PC uses 3.5. Another thing would be to have some custom cradles so you could mount the disk drives in such a way to be accessible.

Any way you try to do it, you will need to have one very big case. The most space efficient would be to have the motherboards across from each other, but make sure to have enough space in between for airflow, expansion cards, and heat-sink's.

I'm looking to build a decent gaming PC for 500$ or less. I would like to just have a list of the components, if anyone can do that. Thanks.

Answer
go to newegg.com

find decent AMD processor, find cheapest motherboard for that socket, get cheapest 4gb RAM, cheapest case, get cheap power supply, they have a 630w for 35$, get cheap 7200 rpm hard drive, and dvd drive to load OS unless you have another computer to load the OS on the drive and then plug the drive in and use rest for decent graphics card, like a GTX 470 or 560

What are the best specs to get for a gaming PC that you can build yourself for no more than $500?

best gaming pc on earth image

Jmac89

I just read a book called 'Pillars Of The Earth' by Ken Follett and want to find a game for PC or 360 that has a strong religious component to it where you build religious cities and buildings and what not. I'm not interested much in warfare in the game but whatever I have to put up with I will.

Answer
Civilization IV. It's a turned based strategy game where you build up your empire through time, including the medieval era. There is also a medieval "mode" where you skip right to that time period. You get to pick the religion of your empire, and send missionaries to foreign nations as well as your own cities to spread the religion. It also leads to many battles as other nations will not always agree with you. You can also build churches and stuff in each of your cities. It's probably one of the closest games your could find to your subject.

Enjoy :D

tl;dr Civilization 4, Google it ;)
