Help building a gaming pc budget $700?

Is there that big of a difference between the i3 and i5? I don't know which one to get. I would prefer the i5 but it is more expensive, and I heard the i3 is still good. I just want to know will the i3 be able to play future games good still. I have a $700 budget and I want the i5 3570k with the Radeon 6950 but they are expensive. What other choices could I go with that would be good?

$700 is not enough, even for a good budget gaming PC. Make that $800 and you're in business...

YES, there is a big difference between an i3 and an i5, first of all, i3 are dual core processors while i5 are quad core.
For gaming, you get good enough results with an i3-2130 or even an i3-2100 processor. And YES, it will play most modern games very good, even future games.

yup, your build is decent enough to let you play all games on mid settings on 1080p. older games on high settings =D

BTW, since you have an H61 mobo, it would be much better if you just downgrade your processor to an I5-2500 since an H61 mobo isn't capable of efficiently overclocking an I5-25000k.

If you really want a 2500k then there is no choice for you but to upgrade into either a P67 or Z68 mobo of which you stated you didn't want to increase your expense that is why i said for you to just downgrade into a 2500.

Good for first gaming pc build?

I posted my original gaming build last night, but after getting some good input this is the new list I've come up with. Just wanted to know if it was a good set up for a first time pc builder and good for running a game like Star Wars: The Old Republic and web surfing. In the future I might be doing video editing, but nothing extremely advanced. All help is wonderful!

This is my budget: $500 I would love to put more towards a pc but I really can't so if you know of parts that are equal value but better I would love to know of them. Or if I needed to put more money towards a specific part while sacraficing for another that would be fine.

Your best bet is to either build one yourself, or find one made for gaming.

You can compare the premade ones and read the reviews (this is one site where the reviews are usually spot on) to figure out what works best for what YOU want to do. Certain hardware runs certain games better than other hardware, while the same item may not run a different game as well. More often than not, you can find reviews from gamers who have used each build or piece of hardware on a specific high-end game you're looking to play, such as BF3, Crysis 2, etc in the reviews section.

Just make sure you stay reasonable. Hardware technology currently vastly exceeds the requirements of recent software, even for games and video editing programs. It is quite easy to get carried away and build a PC that is complete overkill. So, it's alright to save yourself some money and just get components that will do what you want to do... Don't let people talk you into buying hardware you'll likely never require in the next 10 years. All it does is make your computer run freaking hot.

In $500 range, you should definitely build one yourself like the other person said. But if you're too lazy, buy a dell and add your own graphics card. For $500 budget, I recommend a 6850 graphics card. It'll run high end games on a budget. Whatever you do, don't rush it and spend on your $500 without thinking. Do some research and spend your money well, try not to buy prebuilt gaming PC's. Firstly, you won't get a decent graphics card with a $500 bundle, secondly, the components they put in are shabby.

First of all, what Black Ops are you talking about? The first one or the second one(due to be released later this year? ).
System requirements for Call of Duty : Black Ops(1) are:

Going with an Intel configuration means paying a total of: either $532 / $587(with the 2500K and the $125 motherboard).
My personal recommendation is that, if you are on a budget, you should go with AMD, but if you can afford the cheapest Intel configuration, then go with Intel.

I'm looking to play League of Legends on max settings but I'll also be using this computer for school work and such. My current computer gets like 20 fps on LoL so I'm looking for a BIG upgrade. Would it be cheaper to buy a power supply and a graphics card and just replace it with the parts in my current computer? Or if I do buy brand new parts I'm looking for quad core processor and an 8GB ram at least. The graphics card doesn't have to be super HIGH end because I just want to use it for LoL. Thanks. You don't need quad core for gaming, almost all games will only use one or two cores. And you won't be able to build around a quad core with $700.
For gaming forget about AMD, THEY SUCK!!! And what they sell for a quad core is in fact a dual core with 4 processing threads, AMD is full of it...

Trying to build a gaming computer but I have no idea where to start?

My goal for 2013 was to build a amazing gaming rig, (I was going to do this in 2012 but couldn't come up with the money)

My Rig I'm, wanting to build is a triple monitor setup (For Eye-Infinity)
I'm wanting to play future games such as battlefield 4, and games now like Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3.
I'm wanting to be able to play these games at ultra settings, that way I never have to worry about lag (Like on consoles which are at low settings). I'm wanting to know what graphics card I would need what kind of CPU I would need ect. Case : Poor pick, Get cooler master scout2 case, can add 6 120 mm fans, 2 front usb 3 ports, 2 front usb 2 ports.
Monitor : Nice pick.
Optical Drive : Holy shit! xD Amazing one :D do not get it unless if you REALLY need blue ray optical drive.
HDD : Nice pick. even though WD is better than segate.
OS : Good choice! be away from Windows 8 if you want gaming pc.

How much does it cost to build a decent gaming computer?

I'm looking to play League of Legends on max settings but I'll also be using this computer for school work and such. My current computer gets like 20 fps on LoL so I'm looking for a BIG upgrade. Would it be cheaper to buy a power supply and a graphics card and just replace it with the parts in my current computer? Or if I do buy brand new parts I'm looking for quad core processor and an 8GB ram at least. The graphics card doesn't have to be super HIGH end because I just want to use it for LoL. Thanks. You don't need quad core for gaming, almost all games will only use one or two cores. And you won't be able to build around a quad core with $700.
For gaming forget about AMD, THEY SUCK!!! And what they sell for a quad core is in fact a dual core with 4 processing threads, AMD is full of it...
