Gaming pc on tight budget?

I only have around £200 to spend, however bad this may sound I do have some specs.

I have a jn120F 600AP 12v2 PSU - Is this good enough?
I have an AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ CPU - Is this good enough?
I have an XFX AMD 6770 Graphics card

The only things I don't have providing the above specs are ok are:
RAM
Motherboard
Case

Can it be done? If so, what specs do I need?

I am not the best informed about PCs and building, but I also am trying to build my first gaming PC for a budget.

Your budget is VERY tight though, and I am not sure what you will be able to get for that. The PC I am trying to build is $500 at the lowest I can get the parts. So good luck to you on that, hope you can do it.

The CPU looks a little old. Most reviews I found are from 2005, and the AM2 socket is outdated I think. Again, take everything I say with a grain of salt, but thats what I gather.

The AMD 6770 looks pretty good, my concern with it would mainly be specifications and if it would fit the motherboard, how much power does it draw? Otherwise it is actually a decent card, benchmarking pretty high in playing games like Just Cause 2 or Mafia 2.

I would do a lot of checking to make sure before purchasing anything. When you buy your motherboard, be sure to buy one that will fit the AMD 6770 in it.
Also, I think you would be better off buying a new CPU since you will probably get bottlenecked by it. The power supply, I am not too sure about, it might be good, it might be bad. Don't trust me on that.

I would go to http://www.build-gaming-computers.com/gaming-desktop-computer.html and read the guide to January 2013 budget build of the month. That helped me a lot.

RAM is pretty cheap nowadays, you will also need an optical drive, thats cheap too. Also, don't forget an OS and an HDD. The Operating system will pretty expensive, there is guides on how to get deals on operating system discs out there.

Build a Budget Gaming PC?

I'm hoping to build a new Gaming Computer by the end of the 2013 year. Currently, I'm either playing the Xbox 360, or playing on a crappy Intel Celeron B820. Obviously, that laptop isn't meant for gaming. I want something that can handle games like The Elder Scrolls on medium-high settings with a solid framerate. (Definitely want to play the upcoming ESO on the top settings on the new rig)

I will be building my own PC to save the money (and put it towards better parts). So the first question is: is newegg.com really the place to go? It seems that in every forum I have gone to, newegg is mentioned at least 5 times.

The real question here is this: what parts are the best bang for the buck for a budget of around $800?
And if it's worth it to pay extra, be sure to put that in your answer. Just let me know how much of a difference an extra $50+ would make to the overall machine.

So if you could, go ahead and name all the parts (cpu, gpu, motherboard, case, an on for every single thing I will need) for that price range. Also, I would appreciate if you could say how much of an upgrade one thing is to another (4GB of RAM compared to 8GB, etc)

Lastly, I've heard people saying that dual-core processors wont be able to run games in the future...so how long will the parts I get last in your opinions.

And of course, the true PC test..."Will it run Crysis 3?"

Ok, because of the variety of options I will just give a run down without going through and picking every part out for you to give you a understanding. Newegg is a good place to go along with Amazon. I have prime on Amazon, so I purchase almost everything on Amazon. If your mainly using the build for gaming look to spend more money on a graphics card. I have a 660 Ti and it runs Crysis 3 well along with Battlefield 3. I never played The Elder Scrolls, but you could look up benchmarks. I would stick with 8GB RAM, no more is really needed, you probably won't even use 8GB. For the CPU go with like a 3570K or something similar. With Haswell releasing, maybe come back to it since your not building until the end of the year. I'm not sure what your question is about "how much of an upgrade one thing is to another"... I mean, 4GB compared to 8GB, there is a upgrade, it's double the RAM. Hopefully this gave you an idea to think about, I'm sure new stuff (such as haswell) will release around June, but email me with any questions!

I got a budget of 27000 Norwegian Kroner which is about 4594 dollars.

I need a PC that's able to play most games at least on high and maybe, but not necessarily Ultra.

I'm new to PC gaming - you know i'm the typical Console boy or whatever.. lol so i dont understand much of the pc language.

BTW, I've been looking to buy the Razer Blade Pro when it comes out, but it seems like they aren't shipping to where i live

For your budget you could get TWO Asus or Alienware (Dell) top machines with good graphics chips. Then you could winter in Majorca or the Canaries with the rest of that budget.

Are these good gaming pc specs for what my son wants?

I was hoping someone could shed some light on if these gaming pc specs would be good enough for what my son wants to do with it. He's asked for a gaming pc for his graduation gift but we're not exactly made of money so I asked him for a few details on what he hopes to do with his PC gaming wise! (Yes, I have -some- knowledge of gaming and gaming rigs but not much!)

Now he wants to be able to play games such as Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, World of Warcraft, Mass Effect 3, Guild Wars 2 and most of all the upcoming Elder Scrolls Online game on high settings with a smooth framerate. We've spotted a reasonably priced PC that is custom built for 400-500 with the following specs:

AMD FX4100 Quad Core 4x3.6GHz
Asus Motherboard
500GB HDD
8GB DDR3 (1333 MHz)
GeForce GT630 (1024MB DDR3-VGA-DVI-HDMI-DirectX 11)
Windows7 Home Premium 64Bit

My question is of course... will this be sufficient for what he wants? Any reply from those knowledgeable about this kind of stuff would be very much appreciated!

Yes, it's a reasonable gaming PC, enough to play Skyrim and such games at high detail and a smooth framerate.

The video card is the most important piece when building a gaming PC, and this computer's video card isn't exactly high end (it being a GeForce GT630, a budget video card), but it will be enough to play games such as Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3 and other such games at high detail. Although I find a 500 GB hard-drive more than enough, some people might want a larger 1 TB ( which is 1000 GB) hard drive.

Again, a 500 GB hard drive has no say on how fast he can play games, just the amount of data (such as games, music and videos) he can store in the computer at any given time. I say buy it, but only if you're sure the price is fair.

The video card might be a problem in the near future, (games in 2013 and 2014 will get more resource-intensive) But the video card may be upgraded if absolutely necessary with a newer one for future gaming. Other than that, it looks good.

A grand will get you top spec. but you will want to self build, you'll get all the parts you want and quite possibly cheaper than a prebuilt system.

I recently did a build for someone (details are on my email account) which was on a £700 budget,

i5-3570k
asrock z77 extreme4
8gb ram
1tb hdd
WiFi card
OCZ 600w PSU.
7850 Radeon HD graphics.
120gb sandisk extreme SSD.

this came in at 700, so for 1k, you can up the graphics card to top spec and still be in budget...

prices change and tech is renewed quite often so in 6months there will be an even better spec available.

fx 8150 is fine for a gaming rif and it wasnt failure on amds part its motherboard manufacturers and fact windows microsoft hasnt catched up

I have run it for two months since April 2013.

So far, there are some problems :
1. When booting, it takes a long time about 3-5 minutes, and on the right corner of the screen, it shows B4 code so long, then A2. What do these codes mean ?

2. If I wanna change my speaker to 5.1 channel, can you give some suggestions ?
And 5.1 or 7.1 is better ? What is the difference ? My budget is US$100.

3. My casing is so small, I want to change. Which one is better ?
I want a big 20 cm fan on top and front. Then, side fan for cooling VGA Card.

4. For 3D Monitor, can you give me some recommended types and brands ?
IPS, LED, or LCD and what size ?
(maybe 18.5" if there is a 3D monitor with that size, coz' too large, i don't like)
I want to use the monitor to watch 3D movies and games maybe.
I have tried Red Cyan glasses on current monitor, and it so annoying, the color is so dark (i mean all seems so dark, bad quality).
For Monitor, my budget is US$100-200.
