Can you plug a joystick into a computer for games?

I wanted to join gametap but I don't like playing games with the keypad. Do they sell joysticks to play video games on your computer? I have a 2006 Dell laptop.

With a Dell 2006 laptop, you'll have no trouble finding a Plug-n-Play USB joystick or gamepad for your laptop. Plug it in, let the PC find it, configure the controls to your satisfaction and get moving. (You may have to install a driver disk, depending on the controller.)

From your experience, do you think a simple mouse & keyboard would be good enough for gaming on PC?

Q. OR, should i get a gaming keypad (a small, auxiliary keyboard designed only for gaming)??

Simply buy a usb game controller and your all set, no other hardware required, you can pick one for like $8
