whats a powerful gaming desktop 2012?

i want to get my nephew a powerful desktop computer which means a strong powersupply that won't burn out, fast graphics card and newest most powerful graphics engine, good amount of ram that supports hundreds of 3d units on screen without lag, at least a 4ghz processor speed, i would say a 1tb harddrive or maybe larger, how much do you think i could get one with top notch technology for? im guessing it could even cost a few thousand but i want an answer from an experienced gamer, and also i need to know what good compatible motherboard will fit with the excellent graphics card

You can get a top-flight gaming system for about $1700-$2000. While spending $2500-$3000 would yield an even higher-end rig, your performance would only be moderately better. Expense rises much faster than performance does above $2000.

Did you say "at least 4Ghz"? There are no processors with a clock speed of 4Ghz unless you overclock them to that point. But Ghz isn't a direct measure of performance anyway. The 3.7Ghz Phenom II X4 980 and 3.6Ghz FX-4100 are much slower in games than a 3.3Ghz Core i5 2500K. And for gaming, the Core i5 2500K or 2550K are better choice than a Core i7 2600K, because there's almost no difference in gaming performance but the Core i5 costs $100 less, which is money you can spend on a higher-end graphics card instead.

If you've got money to spare, then get a Core i7 2700K but there are rapidly diminishing returns beyond the Core i5 2500K level. Since gaming performance is determined 70% by your graphics card, it's counterproductive to spend an extra $200 for a CPU that's only 5-10% faster rather than a graphics card that's 50-75% faster.

8GB of RAM is plenty for any gaming build (no games require more than 4GB anyway). Spending more money for 16GB doesn't improve gaming performance at all, it just raises the price.

While Nvidia's new cards are expected to start shipping within the next few months, AMD's new generation cards are already available. I'd recommend building a system with a Core i5 2500K and Radeon HD 7970 (the newest high-end GPU, although not more powerful than the older GTX 590 and Radeon HD 6990). Anything of the GTX 580 level or higher is considered top notch, it just a matter of your budget.

Don't waste time with AMD's FX-8120 or 8150 processors. Those have weaker gaming performance than any of Intel's current Core i5 or i7 processors. Even the Core i3 2120 beats all of AMD's processors in most games.

Pre-made Gaming Desktop 2012?

Because I don't want to go through building my own Desktop (although I really should, because everyone says it's cheaper and not at all hard to do), I want to consider buying an actual pre-made gaming desktop to replace my crappy gaming laptop that was gifted to me years ago. I'm looking for something relatively cheap, although any good suggestions will do. As for how "good" of a GPU I'm looking for, I just want something that'll let me play TERA at maximum graphics while recording/streaming, no fps problems. That's mostly the extent of what I'll be using this new desktop for.

If premade Gaming desktops are too expensive and totally not a good option, I'd also accept good suggestions for complete and detailed tutorials on how to build a desktop and suggested parts.

An econo-build that maximizes graphics and upgradability.
As you can see, the number of parts is quite limited and basically you put them in the case in the right places with some bolts and screws and wings in tool-less cases and cable the parts together and load windows and update like any PC.
Ask opinions about the part set. If young teenagers can build a PC, it's not rocket science.
It's mostly about optimizing money and deciding about future upgradability.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (PC)... opinions?

Q. GR:FS came out for the PC very recently; And I'm trying to decide whether it's worth getting or just a waste of money. I loved the first Ghost Recon, however the second; not so much.
If any of you have played it through or even just a little bit, could you give me some quick feedback on how good you think it is, and whether it's worth buying?

Please consider gameplay, graphics, campaign/storyline, comparability to its prequels, etc.

Already it seems GameSpot and other reviewers have given it a considerably low score, however I don't know if that's just the hardcore "play the entire thing through in an hour and be really critical" types doing the reviewing so far.

Did you say "at least 4Ghz"? There are no processors with a clock speed of 4Ghz unless you overclock them to that point. But Ghz isn't a direct measure of performance anyway. The 3.7Ghz Phenom II X4 980 and 3.6Ghz FX-4100 are much slower in games than a 3.3Ghz Core i5 2500K. And for gaming, the Core i5 2500K or 2550K are better choice than a Core i7 2600K, because there's almost no difference in gaming performance but the Core i5 costs $100 less, which is money you can spend on a higher-end graphics card instead.

im planning to buy 10 games tomorrow for ps3... i just bought a slim last month so library is still small.
here is what i have now;
batman ac goty - great
uncharted 123 - great but short
fallout 3 - just starting plays okay
skyrim - just starting plays great
gt 5 xl - great
mw3 - mediocre (note i like playing fps bf2, bia etc on pc)
gta 4 complete ed - great
dead space 2 - mediocre (im a fun of sh series up to 3)
mass effect 2,3 - not starting to play yet
soul calibur 5 - enjoyable online and multiplayer nice gameplayer story sucks
nba2k11 - got this one for free, not much into video game sport unless its racing
re 5 ge - sucks as im a fan of old school survival horror re

AMD FX 6100 is a watt sucking waste of time and money that will bottle neck high end GPUs, you would be much better off with a Intel Sandy Bridge 2500k or higher. Dump the GPU, and wait for the Kepler powered GTX660.

Performance Analysis

With the addition of numbers for the Intel Core i3-2100 and Core i5-2400 in some of our benchmarks, it's plain to see that even with a price cut, the FX-8120 struggles in most of our tests. In very multi-threaded tests such as Cinebench and WPrime, it just about manages to hold its own against the similarly-priced Intel Core i5-2400 - slightly ahead in WPrime, a little behind in Cinebench and noticeably faster than the cheaper Core i3-2100. The Core i5-3570K is much faster in both tests, but then it costs around £30 more.

Our image editing test was a real let down with the FX-8120. It came bottom of the graph, being trounced by a staggering 500 points by the Core i3-2100 - a CPU that costs just £90. Even the ageing AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition was considerably faster while the similarly priced Intel Core i5-2400 was nearly twice as fast. Clearly, if you do any amount of photo editing, the AMD FX-8120 represents particularly poor value.

With eight cores at its disposal, you'd think the FX-8120 might stand a good chance in our video encoding test. Sadly this wasn't to be and its score of 2,150 was over 400 points short of the Core i5-2400. Thankfully for the FX-8120, the Core i3-2100 was noticeably slower, with its two physical and two virtual cores not able to keep up.

Everything started to fall away from the FX-8120 again in our multi-tasking test, where it was yet again at the bottom of the pile, coming 100 points short of the much cheaper Core i3-2100, while the Core i5-2400 was nearly 50% faster - pretty damning result. Overall, it was no surprise to see the FX-8120 rock bottom, bettered by the Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition and Core i3-2100 and trounced by the Core i5-2400.

As for how "good" of a GPU I'm looking for, I just want something that'll let me play TERA at maximum graphics while recording/streaming, no fps problems. That's mostly the extent of what I'll be using this new desktop for.

If premade Gaming desktops are too expensive and totally not a good option, I'd also accept good suggestions for complete and detailed tutorials on how to build a desktop and suggested parts.

An econo-build that maximizes graphics and upgradability.
As you can see, the number of parts is quite limited and basically you put them in the case in the right places with some bolts and screws and wings in tool-less cases and cable the parts together and load windows and update like any PC.
Ask opinions about the part set. If young teenagers can build a PC, it's not rocket science.
It's mostly about optimizing money and deciding about future upgradability.

Gaming PC Graphic's Card?

Okay so i might but these GPU's....

2x Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 SE SLI Graphics Cards (£234/$367)

but im not too sure could anyone recommend any better card/s for a better price ?? and if not what games and what fps could these cards run ??

A pair of GeForce GTX 560 SE's would offer great bang/buck, but I wasn't aware that the SE was available in the UK... the merchants I checked recently (Ebuyer, Aria, Dabs, Overclockers) didn't carry it. I'd recommend moving up to a pair of regular GTX 560 cards (non SE) because those are much better (and more popular models) for about £130 apiece.

The GTX 560 SE performs identically to the old 768MB GTX 460. The closest equivalent among current cards is AMD's Radeon HD 7770. So a single card is enough for games like Call of Duty MW3, Star Wars the Old Republic, WoW and even Skyrim maxed. However it's only enough to play games like BF3 and Arma II on high settings. A pair of those cards in SLI could play anything on ultra at 1920x1080 resolution.

In general, it's better to go with a single higher-end card than an SLI pair because not all games support SLI equally well. In some titles the SLI pair performs twice as fast as a single card, but in others you may only get a 60% increase, in others SLI is just 25% faster. Also, SLI and Crossfire pairs run afoul of weird driver bugs more frequently.

Another disadvantage of SLI/Crossfire is that your pair still only has the usable VRAM of a single card. And to run the highest-end games on ultra settings nowadays requires more than 1GB of VRAM.

Nvidia is set to release their new GTX 660 Ti within the next couple of days. I recommend waiting to see how those cards are reviewed because they're expected to be the new kings of the $250-$300 price range. One of those might be all you need, unless you're trying to max out BF3.

i want to get my nephew a powerful desktop computer which means a strong powersupply that won't burn out, fast graphics card and newest most powerful graphics engine, good amount of ram that supports hundreds of 3d units on screen without lag, at least a 4ghz processor speed, i would say a 1tb harddrive or maybe larger, how much do you think i could get one with top notch technology for? im guessing it could even cost a few thousand but i want an answer from an experienced gamer, and also i need to know what good compatible motherboard will fit with the excellent graphics card

You can get a top-flight gaming system for about $1700-$2000. While spending $2500-$3000 would yield an even higher-end rig, your performance would only be moderately better. Expense rises much faster than performance does above $2000.

Did you say "at least 4Ghz"? There are no processors with a clock speed of 4Ghz unless you overclock them to that point. But Ghz isn't a direct measure of performance anyway. The 3.7Ghz Phenom II X4 980 and 3.6Ghz FX-4100 are much slower in games than a 3.3Ghz Core i5 2500K. And for gaming, the Core i5 2500K or 2550K are better choice than a Core i7 2600K, because there's almost no difference in gaming performance but the Core i5 costs $100 less, which is money you can spend on a higher-end graphics card instead.

If you've got money to spare, then get a Core i7 2700K but there are rapidly diminishing returns beyond the Core i5 2500K level. Since gaming performance is determined 70% by your graphics card, it's counterproductive to spend an extra $200 for a CPU that's only 5-10% faster rather than a graphics card that's 50-75% faster.

8GB of RAM is plenty for any gaming build (no games require more than 4GB anyway). Spending more money for 16GB doesn't improve gaming performance at all, it just raises the price.

While Nvidia's new cards are expected to start shipping within the next few months, AMD's new generation cards are already available. I'd recommend building a system with a Core i5 2500K and Radeon HD 7970 (the newest high-end GPU, although not more powerful than the older GTX 590 and Radeon HD 6990). Anything of the GTX 580 level or higher is considered top notch, it just a matter of your budget.

I recommend a Sandy Bridge system (Core i5 2550K or Core i7 2700K) along with a Z68 motherboard, the X79 platform is just overpriced.

Don't waste time with AMD's FX-8120 or 8150 processors. Those have weaker gaming performance than any of Intel's current Core i5 or i7 processors. Even the Core i3 2120 beats all of AMD's processors in most games.

my suggestion is buy a cheap clip on mic (for like 5 bucks), the audio technica ad700, and the astro mixamp, which utilizes dolby headphones(converts 5.1+ channels into stereo specifically for headphones).These three should cost just a little over 200 combined. it will sound like the video on the link i provided at the 1:08 minute marker.
Reviews of headphones are also on that page. If you're interested in other headphones, make sure you get one with a good soundstage (like the audio technica ad700) to improve your gaming exprience.

To give my complete and honest opinion, if I was Bethesda, after all the moaning from Playstation 3 users who think they're legally entitled to it, I wouldn't even bother patching the game, making new games for the system or even responding to them.

Seriously, to Playstation 3 users, I was once one myself before I went to the PC, but you are not entitled in anyway to this DLC. You are entitled to have it once you have paid for it, but I do not see any paid money from the Playstation 3 users on the specific Dawnguard and Hearthfire DLC.

To answer the question, I don't think it's even a hint. Hines doesn't speak on behalf of Bethesda, he just personally said that he has things to confirm. He could be confirming that it won't be arriving at all, or that it'll take a few years. Who knows?

What is the best kind of graphics card I should/can get?

My computer is an Acer Predator G3610 and a PCI-Express x16. This is mostly going to be used for hardcore gaming, one of those games including Arma 3. The current card I use is an NVIDIA Geforce GT 530. I would like to run most games on maxed out or at least high settings. Also, will I need to upgrade anything else? (Note: Money is not an issue here.)

You'll need to upgrade the factory power supply in order to support high-end gaming cards. Acer's stock PSU is only enough for entry-level cards like the GT 530.

I have also read many reviews that the Genius Bar at the Apple Stores is the most knowledgeable of tech support offered in a retail store setting. However, their Tech Support is not cheap, unless you buy a 3-years Service Agreement from Apple.

If Tech Support is your top concern, you may want to look into a Mac. Apple is the biggest personal computer and have the volume to get the best suppliers. Well. Maybe not the suppliers who are best to their own employees.

If you want to stay with Windows, I'd recommend Lenovo because their Thinkpads are still better made than most. Sony as a corporation has lost a lot of business in TV, music players and game consoles and hasn't really put out anything special in computers.
