best gaming pc manufacturer image
John says
I always hear and read about how it's better (and cheaper) to build your own gaming pc instead of buying a custom one from a manufacturer like Alienware. But since I know very little about building PC's, I wonder if there's a way to learn without having to pay for a class. Does anyone have any suggestions?

building your own rig is actually really easy. i learned simply by looking around newegg and reading forums, and i think most people learn that way. computer building is so easy now a monkey could do it. people just get scared because they have bad experiences with computers. check out this guide to get you started.

never hesitate to ask on boards and forums. people are really friendly and more than happy to help.

For a CPU the E8400 core 2 duo(3Ghz-6mb cache) is a really good performer.. (fsb 1333)
or
for a little bit more.. i think 30-50 dollars the E8500 which is clocked at 3.16ghz (fsb 1333-6mb cache)
as for the motherboard.. gigabyte are pretty sexy.. but i hav an asrock myself.
IF ur looking for a gigabyte look for the P45 chipset or P35 chipset(P45 has been tested and is beter to overclock)(also has higher bandwidths) (P45 is beter :P)
usually the chipset is in the name of the motherboard.
if you ARE looking for a Graphics Card.. I RECOMMEND GALAXY... they may be the cheaper brand.. but imo galaxy are the best manufacturer apart from high-end brands i.e XFX,evga....
I also recommend u check www.staticice.com.au
hope this helps
