Today i asked my mom if i could buy some pc gaming supplies: gaming desk, gaming chair, joystick, racing whell, webcam, and gaming speedpad. and 2 new graphics cards. she said yes and as i calculated the price it came to well over 1700$ and i am just wondering is all this stuff worth it? im 14 and like computergames i might play for about 30mins-1hr a day so seriously is it worth it. and by the way i have an amzing pc so games look amzing i just want to enhance the experience! :)
Answer
No, it isnt worth it.
Any desk will do aslong as it has sufficient room and doesnt put the pc into an enclosed space (blocking off air supply and frying the thing)
Any high back chair would be fine aswell, just dont buy a cheapy, get a decently priced one and make sure its a high back chair then you can lean right back.
As for the other accessories, a gamepad or steering wheel can make racing games fun but you need to pick ones that compliment what you want, if you prefer realistic racing a steering wheel is a good idea, otherwise stick with a gamepad for fast and easy control.
A joystick is generally only good for flight simulators so again, choose based on what games you plan on playing, as for the webcam, you dont need to spend an enormous amount on them, just buy a decent one for around $100 with the new rightlight technology or similiar, you dont really need face tracking abnility or to have the webcam turn into a terminator.
As for graphics cards, buy one, not two, SLI is nice and all but one decent card is better than two sub par ones, and two top of the line cards are overkill.
Personally I would buy the second or third from the top card from either ATI or NVIDIA as it should easily be sufficient, a 9800GT or GTX or an ATI 4850 or 4870 should be sufficient for all current and 6 month future games. Save the remaining money and you could buy another newer card in 12 months time.
Having money is great, but spending it needlessly is well, a waste.
Hope you find what you are looking for.

Please tell me if these are at a good price point for their abilities, and please recommend me better buys.
P.S, I'd like the keyboard to be mechanical.

@Nick
I know I've asked this before, but I don't get very good answers.
Answer
I originally got he g9x until I tried out my boyfriends g500. What a difference. I ened up switching my g9x for his g500 and I'm currently using it. Newegg is good but amazon sometimes has really good deals on them here

For the keyboard, you probably know this already but mechanical switches are louder than the 'normal' keyboards out there.
Good overall accessories for pc gaming =D
