Looking for a good gaming pc for under $1500. Suggestions?
Hopefully able to run games like Arma 2 or BF3 decently well. I was looking at an Alienware X51 but one of my friends claims that Alienware is terrible since Dell bought them.

Answer
It is indeed best to build it yourself for it will be a bit cheaper, well-balanced and designed according to your preference, intended use and budget.

Here you go:

CPU:Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I53570K - $230

MOTHERBOARD: ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS - $150 ($130 after rebate)

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL - $44

HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - $80

MSI N660 Ti PE 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - $310 (300 after rebate)

POWERSUPPLY: CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX850 V2 850W ATX12V v2.31/ EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC High Performance Power Supply - $135 ($125 after rebate)

CASING: COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN3-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 and Black Interior - $100 ($90 after rebate)

DVD WRITER: LITE-ON 24X DVD Writer Internal 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Model IHAS324 - $25

AFTERMARKET COOLER: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7 - $30

KEYBOARD: Rosewill Gaming Keyboard RK-8100 (RIKB-11003) - $23

MOUSE: RAZER Abyssus Mirror Special Edition Black 3 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired 3500 dpi Mouse - $30

Logitech S-220 17 Watts 2.1 Multimedia Speaker System - OEM - $27

MONITOR: Acer S220HQLAbd Black 21.5" 5ms LED Backlight Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1) - $120 (1080p)

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM - $100

TOTAL : $1404 ($1354 after rebate), this is a great complete build that can let you play all games on max settings with great FPS on a 1080p monitor. It has a 21.5 inches 1080p monitor, SLI ready PSU and motherboard and a gaming keyboard and a nice budget RAZER mouse and nice logitech speakers.

BTW, you could still add an SSD so that your booting time would be shorter and loading of games faster (you install your OS and the game you are currently playing on the SSD), like this one:

OCZ Agility 3 AGT3-25SAT3-120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - $90 ($80 after rebate), but of course as I always say, SSD's are nice to have but not entirely necessary.

What is the best gaming PC on the market for under $1500?

Logan A.

I'd prefer one that doesn't come with a lot of useless crap.

Answer
Try Carbonfrost Systems Defender Mark I. It comes to about $1400 and you get a pretty good gaming computer for that amount. I am listing the specs below as well as the website address.

http://www.carbonfrost.com/products/defender/

500 Gigabyte Hard Drive
2 GB RAM
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Dual Core
2.3 GHz Processor
DVD±R Burner 18X
ASUS AMD Motherboard
GeForce 7900GS 512MB Overclock Edition Video Card
M-Audio HD Sound Card
Windows Vista Home Basic
Starter Package

This configuration should be more than enough to play alot of the games and you can even go higher on their website. It also comes with 2 year warranty and they removed all unnecessary software (bloatware) from my PC before shipping so it was fast and I got one of the best deals for the price.

Plus they overclock your gaming pc and still keep it under warranty so you are gettting a even better pc than what I listed above. Good luck in your search
