I'm looking for good parts that make up a gaming PC for no more than $500, but after looking at lots of graphics cards, processors, hard drives, etc, I'm a bit lost on what to get now, or where to get it from. What is the best combination of parts so you can build your own PC for $500 or less? And what website should I get them from?

AMD fx_series_quad_core_fx_4100 Processor 3.6GHz (4MB Cache)

find decent AMD processor, find cheapest motherboard for that socket, get cheapest 4gb RAM, cheapest case, get cheap power supply, they have a 630w for 35$, get cheap 7200 rpm hard drive, and dvd drive to load OS unless you have another computer to load the OS on the drive and then plug the drive in and use rest for decent graphics card, like a GTX 470 or 560

What is everything i need to build a gaming PC?

I was going to buy a gaming PC, but i was told it was cheaper to buy the parts and put it together myself. I'm not a pro but i have somewhat experience with computers. I just need to know what exactly i need to buy and where i can get them for cheap. My budget is around $500. Thanks for the help.

You should have specified if we should a PC case in that price or not.
Since I tried to configure the best PC you could buy with MORE / less 500$ I didn't include a case:

I would go with AMD if I were you because of the 6 core processor.You would be better prepared for the future than with a quad core processor.

I want to build a gaming PC and only have $500 max. I need someone to find me the best parts possible for my budget. I'm planning on playing games like Minecraft, Gmod, TF2, and Counter Strike. Can someone please help me out? I don't really know how to pick compatible parts. Thank you.

I got my PC for about $500-$600 range.

AMD APUs also seem to do the trick for the games you want.
