I run my pc on integrated graphics and the fans are fairly quiet until i start playing games like world of warcraft and then they get pretty loud and its just during games cause when i exit the fans go quiet in a short amount of time. I was thinking it was because im using the motherboard graphics and since the graphic capabilities are fairly weak the motherboard would be doing extra work and the fan would spin faster or something to reduce the extra heat from using it to play games but im not sure. I'm planning to get a new graphics card and i was wondering if it would also help reduce the noise of the case or cpu fan.

Answer
You didn't mention what kind of system you are running, but some generalizations can be made. Games that are graphic intensive will put a substantial load on your processors, thereby creating more heat. Your fans will run perhaps faster to dissipate the heat so as to not damage your equipment. Any add-on graphics card of recent vintage will likely have its own fan, which will probably add to the overall noise. Liquid cooling or a case with sound absorbing material are your current options for peace and quiet.

What makes a pc noisy? building my own and it HAS to be quiet?

So what makes a pc loud
apart from the hdd, CPU fan and normal circulator fans.
What makes the pc noisy
also is it worth getting a water cooling system?

Answer
crappy power supplies, cooling fans and case fans are usually the problem.

The stock fans that come with retail CPU's are also noisier than the branded ones (e.g thermaltake and zalman fans )

If your PC is noisy, you can replace some of the fans with your own, starting with the CPU and case fans.
If it's still noisy you might want to consider a water block for your GPU or a passive cooler if you don't play games.
