Help me build a gaming PC?

Matty

Hey, so, I live in UK (please use only UK based retailers or websites for components) I would like to keep costs as low as possible while building a system good enough to run games such as WoW on highest graphics settings with 50+fps.

I studied IT in college for 2 years but it was a general course, not engineering specific so when it came to components we only learned a bit about what everything does, not going into any detail about which is best for certain activities.

I am looking for prefferably 8gb+ RAM and am aware that I would need a 64bit OS for this.
Also 3+ghz CPU, I honestly don't know what multiple cores do.
for cooling I would like, if possible to mix both water cooling with fans, to keep overall temperatures minimal, but not so much cooling that the noise is too loud.
When it comes to graphics cards, sound cards, power supplies and motherboards, I know nothing.

Any extras such as HDDs, monitors and peripherals are not an issue, just the basic components, possible a decent and affordable chasis.

Provided all the components are compatible I will have no problem putting everything together.

Thanks.

Answer
It helps to know where you are as retailers available are different in differing countries, I assume you would be in Europe from your currency. I will try to offer some options here.

Amazon is a popular supplier for many European countries.

If monitor is on a separate budget or not makes a world of difference, for gaming I like a nice 27" monitor.

Towers that look interesting for the price:

Each has it's pros/cons versus others, obviously the most efficient way to get what you want at the best price is to build your own but that does require a bit of knowledge and there is risk involved in not damaging anything, receiving a bad part from the factory or simply running into an issue and having no one to help you if you don't know someone.

If there are well known custom PC building companies you are familiar with in your area you may want to check out their site, having someone to call for all the answers is important if you don't have the knowledge yourself.

Good luck.
