NitinG

I have AMD athlon 64 3000+ , 512 mb Ram .. i am unable to play games like GTA san andrias etc. i am thinking to buy a new Graphic Card .. Which one is cheap and best
i only want to play only one game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas . i am big fan of rockstar games ..

Answer
If you looking for just a new video Card, you should go with a ATI X1950GT which is about 110 dollars and can play any new games out there on pretty hight settings, but if thats still too much for you and all you wana play is San Andres you should get a ATI X800pro or eithe r a X1600pro, which should be around 75 dollar. You can find these on... www.newegg.com newegg is the best source of buying hardware in my opinion. Hope this helped.

Building a Gaming PC?

Joseph

What would you recommend?
Looking towards a mid range gaming pc that can at least run Battlefield Bad Company 2 on max graphics at around 40-60 fps
Price range would be around 600-750$ for everything.
:)

Answer
if you are going to make a pc for gaming you are going to need a fast processor. and its going to have to be dual or more if you want it to run smoothly. secondly you are going to need a lot of rams, but that is very easy and cheap to upgrade or install. thirdly you are going to need a graphic card to run games at an awsome display and speed. ussually the least would be 1gb graphic or more to run some of the modern game real well. but after all that is placed you are now going to need a stronger power supply to run all this upgrades, or you will atleast need to set your bios to handle this.

there also other ways such as overclocking your system thru the bios
but it dosent work on all of them

oh and for the proccesor it is going to have to be atleast 2.0ghz dual core

I need a link to a high-end gaming PC company.?

icefox

I'm trying to prove a point about mac computers, if you can call them that. I need the name of a company that makes high end gaming PCs. like voodoo or falcon NW. Are there any others, I'm trying to demonstrate that taking up as little space as possible doesn't make it a good system. I often refer to Macs as big calculators.

Normally I should know, but I built my own comp, and I think I need a brand name to fight mac.

Please, if you have mac, and support mac computers, don't respond, you wont convince me or anybody else.

Answer
IceFox-

I build gaming machines, mainly as a hobby but I also build them for friends and family.

You don't need a brand name to fight Mac-N-Trash, you just have to understand that those crappy machines are like Dell, Gateway, HP, and all Laptops.

Here is the scoop. My uncle, (now retired), used to work for Dell Computers.

Mac's like the others are what we call Turn Key Systems. Basically they are for novice users that do not know how to build solid systems. So they have a company built machine that has a life of about 2.5 years before upgrades become necessary.

Since you build computers too, you already know what i am about to say is true. These companies, like Mac-N-Trash rope people into a system that is just enough to get them over the hump. Then as it always happens, the best friend comes over with the "Game" and the system will barely run it, or Windows will throw up a message stating there are not enough resources available to operate this program.

I used to build machines to what people would claim they were going to use the system for. "Oh mainly just the internet and some word processing, simple record keeping, you know."

Yep so you build this machine:

Intel Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz Processor w/ 533 Fsb.
Asus 848P Chipset Mobo
40 Gb Hdd
512 Mb PC-2700 Memory
ATI Radeon 2600 PRO Vid-Card
Sound-Blaster 2.1 Live Sound Card.

Just enough to give them a little overhead for say HALO, and that is about it, right?

Yeah, buddy brings over Doom 3 does the install, and bingo, Computer is Bogus.

So now you get then phone call, "Hey my machine won't play this game. What will it take to make it play this game?"

"Well sir, this is what you are going to need, but here is what I would recommend, its going to be a $1100.00 upgrade for your system."

"WHAT!!!!!!!!???????? I'm Calling DELL!"

Then he calls the computer manufacturer and find that they no longer support his old system, and they recommend this other newer system, (that still won't play Doom 3), but is about the same price I quoted him to "upgrade".

Ok now that is with the PC owners.

Mac-N-Trash is a whole different ball game. To upgrade a Mac, you deposit it in the trash, (the whole computer), including keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer and CPU then buy a whole new system that costs twice what the old one did. Then you rinse and repeat as the newer models come out.

The difference with PC's vs. Mac's is the fact you can build the base part of your computer ahead of the curve, use some of your older hardware, and upgrade it as necessary, until your base parts cannot be upgraded.

For example. Here is my current machine.

AMD Athlon X64 4400+ Toledo Processor, (Socket 939)
Asus A8V-E SE Motherboard
4Gb A-Data PC-3200 LL RAM
MaxCool 700 Watt PSU
250 Gb Hitachi Deskstar HDD, (U-ATA 133)
160 Gb Hitachi Deskstar HDD, (U-ATA133)
Creative Sound-Blaster XF-I Gamer Series Sound Card
PNY Technologies nVidia 8800GTS PCI Express 16 Vid Card
BFG Technologies Ageia Phis-x Card
Lite-On DVD/CD RW RAM Drive
Sun Microsystems 19 Inch Graphics Rendering Monitor, (CRT).
XClio Turbine 230 Case
Microsoft Sidewinder Gaming Laser 1800Dpi Mouse
Saitek Eclipse Keyboard
Saitek Cyborg EVO Joystick
Creative 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers.

Yes some of the things I have in this system are cutting edge, but many of the hardware items are behind the curve. However, my system is 64 bit ready, and I am only running a 32 bit Operating System with Windows XP Professional.

The Motherboard and Processor are still going to operate Windows Vista just fine, same with the Memory, the system is SATA Drive Ready, so any time I need to upgrade, I can do that with out an issue. Its just a matter of purchasing parts.

You cannot do that with a premanufactured computer. Even a Mac. So much of the system is proprietary you are litterally forced into purchasing their parts, or upgrading your system completely.

Now do I have customized parts on this machine? You bet!

But if you take that same parts list and give it to Dell, Gateway or any of the others, you are going to be looking at a system that will cost you nearly $4000.00 to purchase.

I built this entire system for about $1500.00.

It will do anything I throw at it. Play games, movies, burn DVD's, burn CD's, surf the net, whatever I want.

My point?

Build the gaming machine and you will never get a call back asking to have an upgrade later.

My secret?

www.newegg.com

If you haven't shopped there, you haven't shopped for electronics!

Fried Electronics cannot even beat them!

As for the Mac Users, out there reading this, don't bother to send me any of your opinions. Been there, seen it, got the T-Shirt. There is a reason Mac's have a bite out of the Apple. That is the chunk they took out of your booty when you bought it!

Oh, yeah just for the record, the PSU is on its 2nd System, the HDD's are on their 6th system, the Memory is on its 2nd System, the Optical drive, 7th system, the HDD cables, 15th system, Monitor 4th System, Keyboard, 3rd System, Case, 2nd System, Mouse, 2nd System, Joystick, 6th System, Motherboard, Processor, Vid Card, 1st System, sound card 2nd System.

The other system that the majority of this Hardware came from was upgraded from a P-4 2.4 Ghz then to a P-4 3.0E Ghz System. Everything else has seen AMD 80486 DX-66-2 systems, Pentium 1, 2, 3, 1st Gen P-4. Try doing that with old Mac Parts!

Personally, if they just stick to their I-POOD they will have a good thing. But I would say that Creative is going to give them a run for their money in short order in that department too.

I hope that helps!

what is the best pc game ever?

George W

I've been playing PC games since the early 90's. Colonization, Civilization Call 2Power, Warcraft 2, Unreal 1, BALDUR'S GATE, final fantasy 7, Battlefield 2, CoD, Elderscrolls, Mafia. Just a few of my favorite PC games that I've burned countless hours playing, but I think CIV5 with the new Brave New World may be the greatest PC game of all time. So what was the best game ever made?

Answer
Cool. I've been playing games since Doom 1 and DN3D ( I'm 23 now). Depends what you mean by that question. Hard to say what's best since there's a lot of subjectivity involved in gaming (almost like asking what's the best movie). If we're talking technical achievements, then there's no ultimate game since something better is always around the corner. If it's sheer legacy and impact on the gaming industry, I would say maybe Half-Life, Doom, Thief, Starcraft, Elder Scrolls, Diablo 2, Battlefield 1942, GTA 3, HL2 and many more I can't remember. All of these games have had some impact on their genres and the way modern games are played today. for one thing, COD's cinematic single player can be traced back to Half-life's original approach to making FPS gaming more story-oriented and cinematic, which wasn't the case before. UT99, BF1942, HL-CS and COD4 pretty much all changed the way MP games are played. Unreal 1 can be credited for bringing FPS gaming in large open, ended environments where before they were confined to closed spaces (eg: the ones in quake 2). Diablo 2 got everything so right that it spawned some 500 clones and so on

there are some old games that I've never played as a kid but enjoyed even today. You should try: Sacrifice (frustrating but very original), Silent Hill 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (also an excelent game), Stronghold 1, Freespace 1/2, Nexus the Jupiter Incident

Also, this out of print gaming magazine has lots of info from every gaming age http://www.cgwmuseum.org/galleries/index.php?year=1997&pub=2&id=157

Answer
Put together something on newegg real quick, it's upgradeable and packs a lot of oomph for right now, total cost is $768.92 plus shipping. You will need to add a couple SATA cables and fans.

Specs:
LITE-ON CD/DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model iHAS124-04 - $18.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289
It's a DVD burner. Gotta have one. Don't bother breaking the bank with it. For a future upgrade, might want to purchase a Blu-Ray drive.

COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP Black SECC/ ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $59.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119137
It's big, it's roomy, it looks nice. It has two fans with it already, and spots for two more. And it's cheap. What else can I say?

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive $59.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102873
This bad boy is meant for playing games at 1080P resolution, and should handle pretty much every game made at maxed out resolutions. But what about future games? Crossfire it with another 5770 later on, and you'll get an instant 2x boost in frames per second and will be good for years to come, and it won't break the bank upgrading.

CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 $89.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005
You want something reliable to keep your system powered. This is crossfire certified. So you know it can handle the load of twin graphics cards if you ever need to.

A-DATA 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model AD3U1333B2G9-DRH $89.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211364
4GB is more than enough for any game right now. Once there is a need for more ram, the motherboard has two spare DDR3 slots so upgrading is easy.

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT55TFBGRBOX $199.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103851
This puppy dynamically overclocks itself to 3.2ghz depending on what you need, however other people have overclocked this to 4Ghz. While the i5/i7 series might outdo the Phenom series on a clock per clock basis, the difference is minute. 6 cores means you shred through music and movie encoding and your computer can handle far more than you would.

How to make a Gaming PC?

Aiman

I need to know what is need to make a Gaming PC.

Detail information is fully appreciated.

Answer
A Gaming PC usually defined as a PC that is capable of playing the latest 3D games without any slowdown that can affect gameplay or reaction time.

To accomplish this you will need:
- Good CPU (multi-core processor so background process does not slow down your game).
- Ample RAM (so the game can load entirely into RAM and avoid swapping to hard drive).
- Good Graphic card (one that can play games at your desired setting at 30 frame-per-sec or better).
- Good PC case (one that is silent and have good airflow to cooldown your high performance components).
- Good Monitor (low latency and high refresh rate to eliminate ghosting and slow response).
- Gaming Keyboard/Mouse (can't play without a good, responsive input device).
- Gaming Headset (if you like to chat online and immersed in the 3D environment).

The choice of components will depend on your budget. Below I include a site that can help you decide which component you may be interested in to start building a gaming PC for any budget.

Good luck!

processors for pc gaming

Tom

Would I be happy with an AMD Athlon X2 5200 2.7GHz Dual Core 2 x 512KB L2 Cache for gaming, or should I just go with an Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66GHz 6MB Cache 1333MHz FSB? Are AMD processors reliable, especially for gaming?

Answer
When it comes to gaming you really don't factor in the dual core because your not going to be doing any multi-tasking as your focused on one item. The Dual Core are faster because they can speed up mulitasking operations like having 6 internet explorer windows going at once while your typing MS Word...

As far as the processors themselves go Intel is the upper brand because of this:

The reason that AMD chips are so much less than Intel is because AMD chips comes out of the box overclocked so they run hotter, are noiser, and burn out quicker. The reason they compete with Intel chips is because Intel chips are not overclocked and run at a normal operating temp and speed which gives them a longer life span and keeps them cooler in the long run....should you choose to over clock your intel...well....hold on to your pants Nancy because that processor will leave the AMD in dust in no time....

where can i find a good gaming pc base unit for under £500?

ALBa 185

Hi i just play things like war rock/ css / WOW thing is i'm running it on a 5 year old dell and i'm at a huge disadvantage. can it not be dell aswell i'm fed of them because there adverts dont match the specs in the actual site. thank you. PS remember just a base unit from UK

Answer
Dells aren't as great as everyone seems to think they are. The best thing to do and the cheapest (at least here in the US) is to build one yourself. You can build an awesome gaming rig for around 1200USD or 607.593 (that's pounds right?) This would include everything, the mobo, core2 processor, video card, sound card, ram, a WD Raptor HD. THen if you don't know how to put it all together you could find someone to and it would still be cheaper than buying a new one.

Which laptop is the best for high graphic games( like cod black ops 2...) for under 500 pounds?

Q.

Answer
Well first of all, by no means is Black Ops 2 a graphic-intensive game. In fact, it looks pretty crappy in comparison to most games.
Secondly, you aren't going to find a laptop for under 500 pounds that can run it smoothly. Most laptops don't have the processing power to run games, and if they do, they cost a lot. Building a PC (desktop) is cheaper, but it still won't cost under 500 pounds if you want it to run the games you play on max (maybe Black Ops 2, but no guarantee on others).

Whats more important for video games on PC?(inside)?

Paige

the RAM, processor, or video card?

or do all of them matter?

Answer
Generally everything matters. A game will have a minimum required hardware to run it (always on low) on the back of the game box or on the website. That is the lowest amount of hardware you need. The most important/noticeable/what will hold your computer back in gaming/video edition/rendering etc. is the Video Card, RAM, CPU Ghz., Power Supply, and Motherboard.

Power Supply - Computer components all have a required # of amps, etc.
Ex. Video Card 1 requires 300 Volts. Videocard 2 requires 350 Volts. If your computer doesn't have enough volts it will burn up, and can catch on fire as well as others things.

Video Cards - Video cards handle the graphics for short and can add some speed to processing.

CPU Speed (Ghz) and how many "cores" defines how fast your computer can proccess operations and how many it can process. EX. Lets say you are a dual core CPU in real life...You can read yahoo answers and search on the internet, while also your body is taking innate control of your organ systems (organ systems = all non-major background proccesses *Task Manager --> show all proccesses)

Well a Quad-Core (4 cores) CPU is going to be faster most of the time then a duel core. It comes down to GHz also. Intel makes some Quad-cores that suck, so just because you find a cheap quad somewhere that looks shiny, look at its GHz (not overclock speed if its listed but regular GHz which will be listed directly). GHz in short = speed.

RAM - Is basically i guess what your would say temporary memory. Basically right now your using your RAM to remember half of what I just wrote, but it's not memorized yet permanently in your sub conscience. It's kind of like your computers short term memory basically. Then after your done with something, it dumps it (storing it on the hard drive or deleting it). 8GB is generally all you need for RAM and 4 GB can do just fine generally, it just depends on settings/game.

Motherboard - The motherboard is essential also most of the time when upgrading, it's like the backbone (nerve information super highway) sending/receiving info from all the parts to each other.

For more info see my link or search, What is (part here)? OR search "How to build my first Desktop PC" or something along those lines.

Hope that helps.

Playstation 2,3 and PC video games!?

Manchester

I've 2 questions for you:

Q1: which you prefer (playstation or pc) video games?
Q2: name 3 video games u like much according to your favorite of one of 2 devices?

plz... ascending order as best!
the best answer will be chosen by voters.

Answer
Q1) PC games are better (as long as you have a computer capable of playing them). Often after a PC game is let out people crack them and make them easy to modify (Halo, Half-Life, Call of Duty...etc)

Q2) Halo 1: There are so many mods and ways to modify it yourself that you can make it blow away Halo 3 for an x-box. It doesn't have high computer requirements like other first person shooter games. If you buy Halo 1, Microsoft will let you download and use Halo CE (Custom Edition) made for modifying.

Age of Empires 3: Its got awesome graphics, as long as you have a computer to play it. The maps are easy to modify.

Flight Simulator X: It has great graphics, with require good harware, there are difficult missions. Its just a good game.

Buy a new Mac or used Mac to get OS X 10.8?

CeeJaee

Windows 8 RTM is expected to be sent out at anytime now, and the most recent features kill me. I'm an avid iPhone fan and OS X 10.8 brings allot of features from iOS that make it easier for me because I own an iPhone. It's always been tough for me to use OS X, and I expect this to be no different, but if I have no choice but to use of Mac 24/7, then I'll have to learn it. I am indeed hardwired for Windows having used it for more than 9 years starting with an old Windows ME, but I feel like OS X Mountain Lion is better for me. So what is the best option? Buy an older Mac (I have a list of 10.8 compatible Macs!) or just wait around, and beg, and plead for a new Mac?

Answer
why buy a Mac? when the computer your using now can do the same things, You need to remember one thing, there is No difference between a Mac and a Dell they all use the same Intel components. Mac OS/x like windows is only a operating system both controls the limitations of the Users/

There are other operating systems that are Free and far more superior, They are Faster Stable Secure, and yes they do communicate with the iPhone, There is one particular Free operating system I have in mind that will let you have any windows and Mac desktops at the click of the mouse button, You could pick windows 2000, Vista, Xp windows 7 or Mac OS/x desktop or use several other Linux desktops

All the software is professional and free, with over 38,600 packages to pick from, and somewhere around 1,050 games, What I'm saying is Mac and windows are not the only game in town, Take a look for your self, you can watch videos on youtube that show you what some of these operating systems can do that Mac and Microsoft can only dream about,

Go to youtube and search for Ultimate Edition 3.4 or Commodore OS Vision.

Go to this website and take a look at what your missing by using windows,
http://zorin-os.com
This one for another 99 other free up to date July 2012 operating system that are far more superior
http://distrowatch.com
here is the website that has over 38.600 free software application for the above operating systems
http://sourceforge.net

You have heard of Android for the smart phone, well you could download Android OS for the Pc
now the choice is yours I have told you what you can do it's up to you

How can I go about finding a company, or someone to raise money or donate a computer to someone?

Shelby

My husband has Cystic Fibrosis, he is almost 24 years old and he was given about a year left to live in July of 2012.

Since then he has been trying to make a bucket list of sorts, things he wants or needs, or just would like to have before he passes. He has been an avid video gamer all his life due to his illness, he was never really able to go outside and play, and as he grew up it just got worse and worse until he's almost completely bedridden. So he has always found solace and happiness in being able to play video games, mainly PC games. I want to be able to buy him a desktop and a laptop for when he has to be admitted to the hospital, and he has to stay for a minimum of 1 month, usually more. This is the only dream he can realistically achieve due to the severity of his illness at this point. (His lung function is less than 18%, he cannot move around much without getting severely out of breath)

He was offered to make a "wish" to the Dream Foundation a few months back, but after all the hype, they haven't really been responding to him anymore, so we're starting to feel that it's a lost cause with them.

I definitely do not have the money to buy the gaming laptop/desktop that he needs, even if I were to save every extra penny, it would take more than a year and it could be too late by then.

So I would be so grateful if there is any information on any computer companies or the like, or any sort of foundation or fund that would be able to do this for him quickly, and not take 5+ months. We would be able to provide proof of his condition, doctor's letters etc as well.. Thanks

Answer
Contact the Elfin Society of GE. They are constantly donating Computer Equipment
Or contact YOUR Church and have them solicit the Gates Foundation, Game Stop, Best Buy and so on..
Also try your local library. Gate foundation is always donating new ones to libraries and olds ones are given away.

can i play my pc games in 3d? wearing movie theater 3d glasses?

Sacrificiu

is it possible to play regular pc games in 3d? can i use the movie theater 3d glasses to do this? is there drivers or software that will allow me to accomplish this?
i just watched my bloody valentine on my high def tv in standard dvd format at it was totally 3d and very cool so its very possible as far as that is concerned. i just wanted to know if there was a way to get that same light effect on a pc game.

Answer
No, the glasses from the theater use polarized light. The moive at the theater is putting out two different light waves. The image for the left eye has one light wave and the image for the right eye has another light wave, and the lenses block one light wave but not the other. When they make your televisions and monitors they didn't make it to put out two different light waves, it can only put out one. So you can't do polarized 3d on a television even if you played a polarized 3d movie on it. Plus I don't think they can even make polarized 3d televisions because I have only heard of using shutter glasses with tv.

Most dominant video glasses for PC or console gaming?

You know what I mean. Screw the idea of looking tacky, I'm all about doing it from the comfort of my own home. No more crappy distractions like the actual layout of your desk, or people doing things on the side to annoy you.. just you and the game. Hardcore. What are the most legit glasses for this?

Oh yeah, extended use baby. I need something that won't make me blind!

Gaming laptop under 2000?

Wiggles

Been looking at the alienware M17x a lot, trying to figure how to get the best performance while keeping it under 2 grand. Open to other brands though. What's the best way to get the most performance within my budget?

Answer
You should definitely get the MSI Computer Corp gamer laptop, it is a better gaming laptop than the alienware m17x. It has similar processor as the M17X (Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor (2.4 GHz), but far out run the alienware m17x in all other departments. Look at the breakdown below.

*The alienware m17x has a 2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M graphics card while the MSI has a 4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX675MX. So the MSI has a far better graphics card. Ans to be honest, the graphics card is the major element of a good gamer, it is what truly dictates the gaming power of your PC. So as you can see, the MSI gamer has a newer graphics card as well as its graphics card has far more memory which means that it is faster.

* The alienware M17x has 8 GB DDR3 RAM while the MSI Gamer has 16 GB DDR3
Memory is very vital in gaming as it helps with the speed of the computer and as you can see, the MSI's memory doubles the Alienware m17x's memory.

* Both laptops has a 750 GB with rotating speed at 7200 rpm, however the MSI also has 128 GB Solid-State Drive (flash memory) while the M17X has none. So overall, the MSI has a bigger storage by far which is very vital for a gamer.

There are a few other small differences, however I have outlined the things that matters most. So, overall, its better to get the MSI gamer since it is much more suitable for gaming- having a better graphics card, double times RAM etc. And the biggest thing is that this laptop is even cheaper than the M17X, being sold for $1795.. Future proof gaming PC for under $2000 AU?

Pwnage Pen

I want to build a gaming PC for under 2000 Australian Dollars. I don't need a monitor, mouse or keyboard. I also want this to be as future proof as possible.

And also need to add the cost of having someone build it for me.
Please answer quickly.

Answer
a decent gaming machine would be through NewEgg.com or Tigerdirect.com, dont know if they ship to AU, but look at their performance packages and a gaming setup PC's. I think the one that looks decent for $900 USD is this setup from TigerDirect.com:

Vista Home Ultimate 64bit
Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4GHz)
4gb DDr2 Ram
250gb sata2
22X DVD/RW
9600gt 512mb SLI (dual graphics cards)
Gigabit NC/6CH audio

Looks ok for the price.

A gaming pc for battlefield 4/ cod ghosts.?

zac

hey can someone help me build a gaming pc so i can run these 2 games on moderate setting smoothly and i dont wanna spend over $700. Can u please make a list of what i need and the cost of each part.
Thanks for ur time i really appreciate it!

Answer
Your not going to find a good gaming PC for under $700. A $700 dollar gaming PC might run BF 4 at the lowest settings, but most likey will become obsolete in 1.5 years. Best bet is make a larger investment into a PC now and have it for along time. I have 2 links for you

1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227484

This $870 but its a pretty decent machine

2.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227439

This $1299 but its a beast.

Now If you can your better off building your own PC. Order all the parts and assemble your self. This is buy far the best option. You might even be able to recycle some parts from you previous PC(If you have one). I did this and for $1200 I built a machine thats worth about $1800 or more. If your not sure how to build on your self there are lots of tutorials on the net that take you through it or you might be able to find someone locally that does does it on the side.

Who has best prices for PC games?

Q. I used to buy computer games in retail stores, but started to use Steam recently. Now I found out that there are other online stores that let you buy PC games and download them. Which store is best, and why? What are the choices?

Answer
Right now there are many online stores offering PC games for download. It is worth to shop around because they all have competitive prices and many special promotions with huge discounts on individual titles or game bundles. Try these: Direct2Drive, GamersGate, GameDownloads, Impulse, GamesForWindows, GamePlanet, GameTap

If you want to quickly find the best deal on a game, to go GameDealAlerts.com - it is a service that aggregates prices from most of the above stores and even allows you to subscribe to email notification when game(s) you are interested in further drops in price.

Is this a good gaming PC for the price?

donaldblak

I'm thinking of buying this PC from HP that I will have custom built and was wondering if it will be a good PC for the money. The specs are:

Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q6600 (2.4GHz)
4GB DDR2-667MHz dual channel SDRAM (4x1024)
512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT, TV-out, DVI-I, HDMI
250GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive
LightScribe 16X DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive
Windows Vista Ultimate

All together this PC is 1,590.00 after savings and rebates. I was going to build one myself, but with no experience I thought it would be better to have someone build it for me. Is this a good deal and how good of a PC is it (I know it's pretty good, just want some opinions)?
I forgot to mention that it did come with a TV tuner. I'm not really a hardcore gamer, so the video card should last me for a while, but if I ever have the money to blow someday, I'll probably get a top of the line video card.

Answer
You forgot to mention one thing...what you will be using the PC for?

If you don't edit RAW uncompressed digital video/audio/photos or play the newest games, there is no reason for that processor or 4gb of RAM.

The video card is bottom of the barrel, the last generation 7600GT is much faster at $85.

A single 250gb hard drive at with a quad/4gb RAM system? That's completely retarded and idiotic considering 320gb Seagates are only $80 and 400gb are $100.

A single DVD burner?
They're only $30.

What power supply?
What motherboard?
Does this include monitor?

Anyway you look at it, this PC was put together buy a retard. It's all mismatched and bottlenecked. It has a quad and 4gb of RAM, yet a bottom of the barrel single hard drive and graphics card?

Doesn't make since.

Let me add this up for you from newegg.com prices:
$559 Q6600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017
$148 4gb of DDR2 667
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820609219
$64 8500GT
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150231
$27 DVD burner
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136119
$67 250gb hard drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822144701

"Name Brand" builders use extremely cheap micro-atx motherboards, cases and power supplies. Probably something like this:
$70 motherboard
$20 Case
$40 Power supply

For a TOTAL of $995 if you built it to their specs yourself.

Do yourself a favor and decide what you really use your PC for and don't waste $1,500 for a mismatched PC. You can build a great gaming PC for $1,000ish. Or a killer media/home theater PC for $1,000 with a terabyte or so of storage.

And go for a full, top grade aluminum case like Lian-Li, not the cheezy steel/plastic crap that Dell and HP give you:

Best Gaming PC under $900?

Martyz

Please don't spam, just tell me and give me a good reason for 10 points.

Answer
the best gaming pc you can get is the one you build and make on your own.
basic components of a pc are cpu, motherboard, hard drive, cd drive, power supply, ram, and a case

a rough guestimate for an average gaming pc would be
$120 - motherboard
$150 - cpu
80 - power supply
100 - ram
70 - case
30 - cd drive
75 - hard drive
150-200 an operating system (depending if there is a sale on some retail websites)
do some research on tomshardware forums on how to build a pc, there is a very good detailed guide there

once youre ready go to newegg, they have amazing deals and low prices daily.

dont buy a store bought, you end up paying more then what you actually get. and they give you a bunch of pre-downloaded crap.

here is the guide
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/257075-13-guide-choosing-parts

if only i had that link when i built my first computer i would have saved myself 2 months of research through crap websites

Buying a PC Gaming System HELP!!!!?

Seth

Hello, I am very much interesting in buying a gaming pc or laptop. I have never purchased a gaming pc before so i do not know the ins and outs like some of you gaming vets. But I have done some research and found building your own if the cheapest and most effective way since it is better in the end. So my question to you all is can you give me a build list or bundle that has everything i will need for some where close to 850 bucks? My goals are to play SKYRIM with super quality graphics and NO LAG. Furthermore, i kinda need some convincing on why i should spend all this money because for one game it seems impractical so can you also name some future games that will come out similar to skyrim or fun pc games.
Also, if there is a good gaming laptop that can reach my requirements and can almost match a pc or is a "GOOD" deal let me know also cause i play a lot of games at friends and it would be a convenience but since i can pack up a pc and bring it, i don't really care.

Thanks for your help :)

Answer
PC gaming really shines when playing first person shooters. If you like those it's the way to go. There's also a sense of community that you rarely find with consoles. The graphics are always better than consoles but if you want to be assured of playing Skyrim (or any of the other graphics rich titles) on Ultra settings with high frame rates (no lag), the gpu (graphics card) alone will cost 4 to 500 US. On your budget I'd lower the standards just a bit. You can build a smoking PC but you're not going to Max out every game's settings.

On the laptop side, I'd consider the Asus G series. A little over your budget but it's a true desktop replacement. I have an Asus G74sx purchased from Best Buy for 1200. When I'm at home, it's hidden under my desk and plugged into a 32 inch TV at 1080p (native resolution is 1600x900 but with HDMI it goes to 1080) with a gaming mouse and keyboard attached. It out performs the gaming desktop that my son built for himself.

PC Gaming vs Console Gaming?

Q. I'm a PC gamer and I want to know if I should make the switch to console? I know you don't have to tell me: PC is far more superior that console. Graphics on PC is great, the hardware is far ahead of console and graphics are better, but does all that matter when there's no one playing on PC? I looked up the stats on Steam and all the games I like have only around a thousand players playing it, soon in a year or two there will be none. With console I have no worries, Consoles just so much more cheaper and convenient. So the question is should I make the change?

Answer
Good gaming PC are $1000 expensive , but PC games are way cheap
Consoles are $300 cheap but there's games are expensive too.
For the amount you pay to upgrade your PC which is about $250 for decent video card, you can skip it once and buy a Console for only $300
It doesn't have to be a switch, you can use both if them, i have a decent PC, it's not the best for gaming but it does the job,, i purchased an Xbox beside my PC, it's good to play consoles exclusives , and games that can't run smoothly on my PC i can just buy the console version of the game.

PC Video Games!?

Assassins

What does a PC need to be able to play games like Assassin's Creed or Watch Dogs? Do these things come with the PC or do I have to buy them separately?

Or is it as simple as putting the PC game CD into the CPU?

Does the PC need a modem to work?

What I know is that I have to download adobe shock wave player and adobe flash player. Is this information TRUE?

Also, please include any more information besides the one above in your answer.

Thank You Very Much!

Answer
Get a good PC, I use a Dell Inspiron, works great for gaming. Download Steam, make an account, and boom. You can buy games.

can the "dell dhm" easily be upgraded into a modern gaming pc?

Cesar

I'm recently moving on to PC gaming, since consoles are going downhill. Will I have to get new parts? If yes, then what new parts do you recommend? What tools will I need to make the changes? By the way money isn't really a problem, so feel free to tell me about the best things available.

Answer
Hi Cesar,

Gaming systems prevalent today have the latest chipset, a large power supply, powerful processor with up to 6 cores, 16-32 GB of DDR3 memory and multiple GDDR5 video cards that support latest OpenGL and ActiveX versions with as much graphics memory as possible and latest ports to connect a HD or 3D display.

Upgrading an old desktop to these specifications would mean virtually replacing everything on the old system. Your old system might not support the new components. You may have to replace the power supply, motherboard, processor, memory, video cards, hard drive and probably even the chassis. Therefore, it would be less of an upgrade and more of a new build. It might actually make more sense to leave the old system as it is, maybe sell it or use it elsewhere, and build a new gaming rig with new parts.

If you want an OEM gaming system, you may check the Alienware series of gaming systems. As budget is not a constraint, you can get the latest and most powerful one on offer. Check the link below to explore:

Hope this helps.

Gaming PC budget $800?

Ryan

I am looking to buy a gaming desktop with a max budget of $800. I definitely want Intel i5 3570 with 3.4 ghz. Also I don't really care the case as long as all the parts fit in the case. Games I will be playing are NFS, COD, Battlefield 4, AC4, GTA 5 if it comes out for PC, and others. I am basically asking what is the lowest price for a GFX card that can play these games and record them hopefully. Thanks.
Also do you think this PC could give me what I need: http://aa-comps.com/product/aac-x4s/

Answer
For an $800 pre-built PC with an i5 3570, they'll most likely just give you the integrated solution or a low end nvidia or radeon graphics solution . Also the aa comps product can most likely play any game from before 2012 and certain games now on low settings but with the jump to next gen (the PC watchdogs and AC4 requirements are proof of this) it wont last. I'd recommend this website for computer part information.http://www.game-debate.com/

Help building a gaming pc budget $700?

Bryan

Is there that big of a difference between the i3 and i5? I don't know which one to get. I would prefer the i5 but it is more expensive, and I heard the i3 is still good. I just want to know will the i3 be able to play future games good still. I have a $700 budget and I want the i5 3570k with the Radeon 6950 but they are expensive. What other choices could I go with that would be good?

Answer
$700 is not enough, even for a good budget gaming PC. Make that $800 and you're in business...

YES, there is a big difference between an i3 and an i5, first of all, i3 are dual core processors while i5 are quad core.
For gaming, you get good enough results with an i3-2130 or even an i3-2100 processor. And YES, it will play most modern games very good, even future games.

Tell me if i can play modern 2012-13 games on my pc?? Specs are below?

Shera

Amd athlon x2 270 3.4 ghz
4 gb ddr3 1600 mhz ram
Asus hd 5450 1 gb ddr3
Windows 7 64 bit
Tell me if i can play modern games at low-med setting
Also suggest a graphics upgrade under rs 4000
Tell me difference between 32 and 64 bit

Answer
Hi Shera,

Different games have different system requirements to play on a computer. Your computer has a decent configuration and you might be able to play most of the games in low or medium settings. You may use the following link to check if you will be able to play a specific game on your system:

http://bit.ly/cHcEh3

Once on the link, type the name of the game and click on 'Can You Run It'.

The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (CPU) handles information. The main differences between the 32-bit versions of Windows and the 64-bit versions of Windows relate to memory accessibility, memory management, and enhanced security features. One of the greatest advantages of using a 64-bit version of Windows is the ability to access physical memory (RAM) that is above the 4-gigabyte (GB) range. This physical memory is not addressable by 32-bit versions of Windows operating system. For more details, you may check FAQ's for 32 bit and 64 bit operating system from link below:

http://bit.ly/13zhh7G

Under Rs. 4000, AMD Radeon HD 6450 or Nvidia GeForce GT 620 might be your best bet. Before you upgrade the graphics card, ensure to check the power supply and other system requirements.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and Regards,

Gaming PC specs from mid 2012 - how long will it last?

Najumi

So I'm wanting to get a new gaming PC as my current one is quite old, I've done some research and I know the specs of the one I'm wanting to get were quite good for early 2012, but how long will it remain good for considering that it is now late 2013?

Specs of second hand one I'm wanting to get:

asus rampage 4 extreme
intel core i7 3930k hex core
Gainward gtx 680 phantom edition
corsair h100 liquid cooling
corsair dominator gt16 gb ram
corsair ax1200 watt psu
1 tb hdd

Answer
You have a monster on your hands, but it's already outdated before it even comes off of the shelf. You've probably already heard that, too.

The problem with staying on the very leading edge of electronics/computers is that you have to spend a ton of money to stay up with the new gear, which runs all of the new games - and then it's outdated within a year, maybe two.

I've always approached PC gaming from the strategy of staying a year or two BEHIND the bleeding edge, just to save myself hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars in the longer-term.

Patience, my young grasshopper! Those games that cost $60 brand new will be on the second-hand shelf next year for half price!

You can also change the case and other items to suit your needs. If you dont want the blue ray you can save yourself 40 dollars. Only pain about this website shipping is very expensive 75 dollars for 10-15 days. But there are coupon codes that work myspace for $30 off with price $799+ and Spring0410 for 5% off 999+.

gaming pc for 500 dollars?

kmon

I want to buy an gaming pc for Christmas, right now I own 500 dollars, where to get the best performance for less money, or, how to build a gaming pc for 500 dollars or less? if not, should I wait for a specific date to get a good deal?
info for games u want to play along with what kind of games you plan to play in the future: the nex total war one, battlefield 4, COD um...10 the dog one, modded skyrim , u know...a pc that can handle everything that comes out in the next 3 or 4 years.

Answer
The best gaming PC right now for $500 is the CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA380 Gaming Desktop Computer . Right now on B7H it is for 511 dollars, but only until October 12, in which the price climbs to 541 dollars. It looks REALLY cool, and even has LEDs built in. They are in stock as you are reading this, but I'm pretty sure people are also trying to buy this. Here are the specs:
â¾3.6GHz AMD FX-4100 Zambezi Quad-Core CPU
â¾8GB DDR3 SDRAM
â¾1TB SATA III 7200rpm Hard Drive
â¾nVIDIA GeForce GT610 Graphics Card
â¾24x DVD±RW DL Super-Multi Drive
â¾Integrated 5.1 Channel HD Audio
â¾10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45
â¾Thermaltake Commander Mid-Tower Case
â¾USB Gaming Keyboard and Mouse
â¾Windows 8 64-bit Edition
I'll post the pic for this PC down below, so you can see the awesomness of it all.

If you want to wait, you can save up to 1000 dollars, to get an Alienware PC, which is the best one on the market, but remember, that you will have to build this one yourself.

You can save up even more, for the RazerBlade pro, but that's 3000 dollars, and isn't in a lot of people budgets for a gaming PC.

Honestly that pc isn't even made for gaming. The specs on that computer are great for home use but horrible for gaming. Even for beginner gaming this pc is just total trash, I think that it would be wise to save up and get enough money to get an ok entry level pc for about 500-600$.

A Person who deals in Assembling Gaming PCs suggested me the following configuration :
AMD 7750 Processor
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT 1GB
Windows Vista
500 GB Hard Disk

I don't have much knowledge about the Configuration, But he came up with a Total of around 17k for the CPU. I want to play games like Crysis, GTA4, Assassins Creed etc.
Can someone tell me whether this configuration is OK or NOT ?
Or Suggest me a Good configuration (NOT TOO COSTLY) to run Latest PC games ?
Thank-you!

Answer
To play those games esp. Crysis with any degree of smoothness and detail you'll need much more than that to start with. I was using a 9600GT and it struggled with Crysis with any anti-aliasing or higher settings.
I now have a 4890 Radeon, the instantly obsolete one that came out last year, to be superceded a few months later by the 5000 series, which I would look at buying now if I hadn't spent $220 on my card. It's still a great card though, the best single GPU card ATI made until the 5870 came out which would blow it away and is probably overkill for you anyway.
If you can afford a 5850, around 300 or less, go with that if you really want it for heavy gaming.
You could go with the new i5 series CPU,or do what many gamers do and get a fast dual core intel, since quad cores aren't all used yet by games. It is nice to have if you run many programs at once though - mine's a Quad Q8200 and it works fine on an Intel DP45SG mobo.
You'll have to decide between AMD and Intel first, and for now I think Intel has the upper hand with their cpu's, which will determine your mobo.
Then do you go with 775 socket, which is still good but getting old, or go with the new 1156 socket which will allow the latest core i5 chips? I like the i5-750, which is a quad core at a good price.
4GB RAM minimum.
I use a WD 500GB Caviar Black for my data drive, and it's fine. My bootup and OS and a few programs reside on an Intel 80GB X 25-M SSD, and it is screamingly fast, if you want to spend a ridiculous amount for 80GB, or more.
Vista - no! I skipped straight from XP to 7 and avoided Vista like the plague. Win 7 is better and more robust than XP even was. I have the 64-bit version and rarely had compatibility issues.
Asus, Gigabyte make good mobos - I would choose one of theirs for a new build assuming ATX size.

Ok now I read the not too costly bit, so that rules out most of what I said - Go with an Intel core 2 duo for about $100 or so, an Asus 775 socket mobo, the drive is fine, 4GB RAM, a reasonable dvd burner for about $30, a 4850 Radeon video card minimum! or 4770 maybe, Win 7 HP, a decent PSU by Seasonic say 450W minimum - don't buy cheap. If you can afford one get a UPS system for safety or at least a surge protector.
And a decent case to put it all in, with quick release fittings for drives etc.

I think Tom's Hardware has a Gaming PC for several budgets, starting at , I forget maybe 750.

The above should be around 700 or less, at a very quick estimate. You can also get parts off ebay if you feel safe doing that and know what you're doing.

Don't forget the incidentals like sata cables, DVI or HDMI cables, thermal paste and other items you will need,

Make sure the components you choose will work together eg get the right RAM for your mobo, and keep performance in the same range eg a high end gfx card will be held back by a cheap cpu/mobo comination.
Good luck.

Answer
Just so you know, there is no way you can keep playing modern games for the next 3 years without upgrading parts.

Case in point, do you think that anyone who bought a gaming PC 3 years ago is able to play Crysis? Hell no.

what is the diffrence between a normal pc and a gaming pc?

Yahia Ahme

and also how o know the diffrence bwtwwen a norml pc and a gaming pc if you are going to buy a pc is there any signs or anytthing or do you ask the guy that sells the pc or what exactly
seeing the latest answer i tryed to play the amazing spiderman on my pc but it keeps on lagging by slowing down evry seconed and all of that and sometime actually i oce tried to run batman arkham asylum on my pc it wouldn't work tryd it on my dad's pc it worked so my pc is a non gaming pc right

Answer
Gaming PC means you can throw whatever games you want. You can play any games you want in a gaming pc, modern games (Battlefield 4, Crysis 3, etc.,). A normal PC is just like editing pictures, watching movies, but cannot play intensive and games. It will lag badly, or worse, it cant run. I didnt get what you mean in your Update question, but you can ask the seller what type of pc that suits you, gaming or normal pc, you can ask him/her if what is the best pc in gaming. If i didnt answered you correctly you can comment here.

whats the best gaming PC under 1000$?

Zero

Desktop of course,

Answer
I'm assuming you don't want to build a computer yourself. If you do, you can get something very good under $1000. But these two I found are pretty decent. They come with GTX460s (which are very good gaming cards. They come pretty close to my 6850) and high end processors (trust me, you don't need an i7 CPUs for gaming unless you want a computer over $1700. Go for the good graphics cards, and skip the fancy overpriced i7s).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229199

Knowing that I just built a PC myself, these are VERY good prices for a Deskop PC with thier specs.

Otherwise, look for a PC with an i3/i5 or a Phenom II with 3Ghz or greater and 2 cores at the very least. For a graphics card, look for a 5770 or greater/GTS 450 or greater

Find me the best gaming pc for under 1000 or under.?

mrhellfire

I don't care where you find it at. As long as it has a minimal shipping cost, like not half the damn price of the computer just to ship it. The only thing I want is Windows 7 home premium, not windows 8. The reason i don't dare look myself is I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. I want to be able to play WOW, Skyrim, SaintsRow, open world type stuff.
THIS IS WHAT I'VE FOUND, AND I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT'S EVEN ANYWHERE NEAR GOOD.

Answer
That one is overpriced and mediocre in in performance.
$899 delivered.

The 970A-G45 motherboard is listed as Crossfire but not SLI compatible according to MSI. That makes the crossfire at reduced performance vs an SLI one. Similar but inferior to 970A-G46.
Crappy power supply

Builds up for $732 with a better motherboard
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2krMK

Will browse around at options if you don't want to build your own.
Part of the $732 is Windows 7 Pro, and they provide a license but do not show the disks.
The build of parts is superior in a couple of ways.

ADD:
Digital Storm is a good quality builder out of California and has a price set semi-custom:
http://www.digitalstormonline.com/vanquish.asp
The $800 plus shipping comes out slightly cheaper and boosts graphics to GTX 650 TI Boost. The Haswell Core i3 is gaming comparable to an FX-4350. The power supply is of better quality even if lower in wattage. There is no bluray and Windows 7 is Home premium. They do not include wireless ($9 card) but adds an interior lighting strip of equal value.
GTX 650 is a bit below an HD 7770.
This approximates the gaming difference from ebay to the equivalent Digital Storm:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/782?vs=777
Digital Storm Vanquish Level 2
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2ksmS
Buildup cost only $645
Raised to the $1059 model
$918.35 to build it (plus $10 light stick)
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2ksvo

The iBuypower special can be adjusted down slightly and is a better value than Digital Storm, but not as high a quality build.
Newegg's offers:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883258065
$860 Delivered. Tax in CA, NJ, TN
Intel Core i5 4570(3.20GHz)
8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity
Windows 8.1 64-Bit
MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760
MSI H81M-E33 Motherboard
LEPA N500 PSU
Enermax computer case.
Basic Keyboard+Mouse included
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227505
$957
Intel Core i7 4770(3.40GHz)
8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity
Windows 8.1 64-Bit
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 2GB
Generic 500W PSU
Custom H81 motherboard
NZXT Source 210 Window computer case, no front USB 3.0

Both are similar in gaming ability.
iBuypower build up to match the $957 would be $1111, but gives a few extras and a better motherboard.
The $860 system is the best deal. It does not have the CPU overclocking of the $1100 (after delivery) but is performance similar.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2ktpt
Build up cost is about $800 plus keyboard and mouse. It is an excellent value system.
the $860 at Newegg is double the frame rate of the ebay system:

What Does A Normal Pc Gamer Suppose To Have For YouTube Videos?

Fallen

Give Me A List

Answer
Hi Fallen,

Here's Some products that a PC Gamer *Suppose* To Have.

1st. A Decent recording software. This records your GamePlay, A must while making YouTube videos about gaming.
Examples : Fraps, Hypercam , Camtasia Record

2nd. Editing software. You will need these tools to make a professional YouTube profile picture, background and intros. You could also edit your videos to make them more " Professional " and worth watching.
Examples :
- Photo Editing & Backgrounds : Adobe Photoshop Cs Series ( Cs5, cs6 ,... )
-Video Editing : Sony Vegas Series ( 10-11-12 ) , Adobe After Effects,...
Note : Always get the latest of these products ( If possible )

3rd. A Good Gaming Laptop/Desktop. Obviously, you will need one. But you don't actually need one. Here's what I mean : If you can afford a better PC, Of course , you will experience less Lag while recording, editing , gaming. This also makes your Pc run faster.
However, If you don't have the ways of getting a Gaming specificated PC, Your everyday PC will rumble to make your programs work. Keep in mind that if your PC can't run epic games like Battlefield, Consider lowering Graphics. Just a tip.

4th. Accessories. You can get accessories like : Headphones, Gaming mice , Speakers , Microphones, Etc.. To make your videos more enriched with quality. But you don't actually need those. Except for the Microphone, Which is essential while making crisp clear commentaries.

Hope this helped,

Kind Regards,

Avex

What is a good gaming PC?

Zack

I'm looking to get a gaming PC because the new Xbox sucks and I'm not a PS fan. So I'm looking for a good PC. I've never had one so I don't know much about them. What is a good but cheap PC. I'm willing to pay $1000 if I have too but would like to avoid that. Any help is great. Thank you!

Answer
The gaming Pc is the one you build for yourself. You'll save hundreds of dollars building it yourself. They're real easy to build also. Go to youtube and find a video how to build one and a video quoting "gaming pc for $1000 2013". To show what parts to buy. Already built gaming pc are pretty much a rip off.

whats a powerful gaming desktop 2012?

John

i want to get my nephew a powerful desktop computer which means a strong powersupply that won't burn out, fast graphics card and newest most powerful graphics engine, good amount of ram that supports hundreds of 3d units on screen without lag, at least a 4ghz processor speed, i would say a 1tb harddrive or maybe larger, how much do you think i could get one with top notch technology for? im guessing it could even cost a few thousand but i want an answer from an experienced gamer, and also i need to know what good compatible motherboard will fit with the excellent graphics card

Answer
You can get a top-flight gaming system for about $1700-$2000. While spending $2500-$3000 would yield an even higher-end rig, your performance would only be moderately better. Expense rises much faster than performance does above $2000.

Did you say "at least 4Ghz"? There are no processors with a clock speed of 4Ghz unless you overclock them to that point. But Ghz isn't a direct measure of performance anyway. The 3.7Ghz Phenom II X4 980 and 3.6Ghz FX-4100 are much slower in games than a 3.3Ghz Core i5 2500K. And for gaming, the Core i5 2500K or 2550K are better choice than a Core i7 2600K, because there's almost no difference in gaming performance but the Core i5 costs $100 less, which is money you can spend on a higher-end graphics card instead.

If you've got money to spare, then get a Core i7 2700K but there are rapidly diminishing returns beyond the Core i5 2500K level. Since gaming performance is determined 70% by your graphics card, it's counterproductive to spend an extra $200 for a CPU that's only 5-10% faster rather than a graphics card that's 50-75% faster.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/the-sandy-bridge-review-intel-core-i7-2600k-i5-2500k-core-i3-2100-tested/20

8GB of RAM is plenty for any gaming build (no games require more than 4GB anyway). Spending more money for 16GB doesn't improve gaming performance at all, it just raises the price.

While Nvidia's new cards are expected to start shipping within the next few months, AMD's new generation cards are already available. I'd recommend building a system with a Core i5 2500K and Radeon HD 7970 (the newest high-end GPU, although not more powerful than the older GTX 590 and Radeon HD 6990). Anything of the GTX 580 level or higher is considered top notch, it just a matter of your budget.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/5476/amd-radeon-7950-review/12

When you're into that really expensive category of hardware, dual cards like a pair of 7950s are better than a single GTX 590 or Radeon 6990 anyway.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-590-dual-gf110-radeon-hd-6990,2898-19.html

I recommend a Sandy Bridge system (Core i5 2550K or Core i7 2700K) along with a Z68 motherboard, the X79 platform is just overpriced.

Don't waste time with AMD's FX-8120 or 8150 processors. Those have weaker gaming performance than any of Intel's current Core i5 or i7 processors. Even the Core i3 2120 beats all of AMD's processors in most games.

Pre-made Gaming Desktop 2012?

Makoto

Because I don't want to go through building my own Desktop (although I really should, because everyone says it's cheaper and not at all hard to do), I want to consider buying an actual pre-made gaming desktop to replace my crappy gaming laptop that was gifted to me years ago. I'm looking for something relatively cheap, although any good suggestions will do. As for how "good" of a GPU I'm looking for, I just want something that'll let me play TERA at maximum graphics while recording/streaming, no fps problems. That's mostly the extent of what I'll be using this new desktop for.

If premade Gaming desktops are too expensive and totally not a good option, I'd also accept good suggestions for complete and detailed tutorials on how to build a desktop and suggested parts.

Answer
Not sure what TERA is. I'm a hardware guy and relate games to tables.
This is probably what you want:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227408
The FX-8120 is not a great gaming CPU:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html
But, I would think the recording and post production editing would benefit from the FX-8120.
The graphics card is a nice HD 6850 and a price that does not break the bank.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php
Estimate by looking at both of above two.
You can look for youtube videos called build a pc
To get the parts:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/iUUQ
An econo-build that maximizes graphics and upgradability.
As you can see, the number of parts is quite limited and basically you put them in the case in the right places with some bolts and screws and wings in tool-less cases and cable the parts together and load windows and update like any PC.
Ask opinions about the part set. If young teenagers can build a PC, it's not rocket science.
It's mostly about optimizing money and deciding about future upgradability.
They run out of the best ones fast:
