where can i find a good gaming pc base unit for under £500?

ALBa 185

Hi i just play things like war rock/ css / WOW thing is i'm running it on a 5 year old dell and i'm at a huge disadvantage. can it not be dell aswell i'm fed of them because there adverts dont match the specs in the actual site. thank you. PS remember just a base unit from UK

Answer
Dells aren't as great as everyone seems to think they are. The best thing to do and the cheapest (at least here in the US) is to build one yourself. You can build an awesome gaming rig for around 1200USD or 607.593 (that's pounds right?) This would include everything, the mobo, core2 processor, video card, sound card, ram, a WD Raptor HD. THen if you don't know how to put it all together you could find someone to and it would still be cheaper than buying a new one.

Which laptop is the best for high graphic games( like cod black ops 2...) for under 500 pounds?

Q.

Answer
Well first of all, by no means is Black Ops 2 a graphic-intensive game. In fact, it looks pretty crappy in comparison to most games.
Secondly, you aren't going to find a laptop for under 500 pounds that can run it smoothly. Most laptops don't have the processing power to run games, and if they do, they cost a lot. Building a PC (desktop) is cheaper, but it still won't cost under 500 pounds if you want it to run the games you play on max (maybe Black Ops 2, but no guarantee on others).

Whats the best PC to buy for under 500 pounds?

Robbie

im looking for a pc thats fast and quite modern, i'd be playing games on it so good ram would be helpful but i cant seem to find any that intrest be, help please?

Answer
We've had as a second computer, which I use ALOT for gaming, and big sized games a basic Dell, little RAM, little hardrive, but it's never failed.

Not to see going for a cheap basic Desktop is a good idea, but just put's things into perspective.
I do not believe in Dell and despise them, but thats just based on there service side.
So if you know how to fix a computer, I'd certainly look at Dell, they are cheap for what they are, but thats comes as a price in other areas.

I need a new Pc with at least 2gb ram and a decent processor, i want to play games and watch videos, what would be reccomended, i also would like vista? Under £500

Answer
500 pounds can get you a pretty decent laptop. You want a Core 2 Duo, at least 2.0 ghz and a 'Dedicated' video card (so stay away from 'integrated' video cards) and about 160+ gb hard drive capacity. most laptops comes with 2-3 gb or RAMs so there you go.

I need a modern looking, portable/semi portable, performance laptop?

D

I currently have an HP Pavilion DV7 laptop that I use daily and love, but its weight is starting to take a toll on me carrying it around for my daily purposes. So I'm in the market for a new laptop that I can make an easier use of, I'm looking for a laptop that is sleek and modern, (for example the styling of a macbook) portable enough that it will still be of decent size and weight, ( like I don't want a 17" laptop that weighs 10 pounds) and it is a necessity that this laptop has some power under the hood, I don't need to play super detailed games or anything, I have my DV7 for that,(there's some upgrades in this tank) but I'd like it to have plenty of processing power, and be ready to have loads of powerpoints and high quality photos and videos played and made on it. I'm not specific on a Mac or PC, I would prefer to stay away from the Macs due to their extremely inflated prices, but feel free to put whatever you see fit. Windows 8 doesn't bother me, oh but it needs good audio. So that's my list, and if anybody is willing to take on the challenge, it has begun after you finish reading this. Good Luck, and thank you!

Answer
Better brands for overall build quality and reliability are ASUS, Samsung, and Lenovo. If you want a laptop that does not weigh much, I would recommend an ultrabook. Ultrabook laptops are deigned to be thin and light, in order to acheive this however, they do not usually have dvd/cd drives in them and have smaller hard drives. Here are some models available at BestBuy ( I will list both ultrabook and non ultrabooks for comparison).

Asus - Ultrabook 14" Touch-Screen Laptop Model: S400CA-BSI5T14 SKU: 7683137 $679.99
Intel 3rd Gen core i5
6GB DDR3 RAM
500 GB Hard Drive
14" Multi-Touch Display
weighs 4lbs, and measures just 8/10ths of an inch thick.

Asus - 14" Laptop Model: Q400A-BHI7N03 SKU: 6775213 $699.99
Intel 3rd Gen core i7
8GB DDR3 RAM

14" non-touch display
weighs just 4.2lbs and 1.3 inches thick

Asus - 15.6" Laptop Model: Q500A-BSI5N04 SKU: 7658047 $599.99
Intel 3rd Gen core i5
