I'm looking to hook my old retired gaming pc up to my 60" RCA TV, but it's an older TV. The inputs it has are S-Video, RCA, and Component (RGB). My Alienware Aurora R2 has ouputs for DVI, VGA, and HDMI. I am looking for the cheapest way to hook the pc up to the TV, I bought a Monoprice VGA to S-Video converter on Amazon, but it didn't display right and it was black and white. Anyone have any advice for this matter other than buy a new tv with HDMI lol.

Answer
I would go VGA to RGB... that will give you the best picture with the inputs and outputs you have.

what is the price of a average gaming pc and what would i need to play a game like Empire total war?

Q. I have always wanted to be a pc gamer but I have no idea what to look at ,i'm looking for something in the price range of 1000$ - 1200$ or below. Also what would I need to run a game like Empire total war smoothly.

Answer
empire total war is not that demanding.
battle field bad company 2, gta iv or crysis are more demanding.

for your budget you could get a very good pc.
