I have wanted a gaming PC for a while now, but being 13 i cant get a job. I managed to save up $500 and want a good Gaming PC. I prefer Intel i3 and up( my dad doesnt like AMD i dont know the difference) Thanks

You need to raise your budget.

You can get the hardware alone for $500, but a copy of Windows costs $100 by itself. So your total cost would be closer to $600.

Here's a list of builds, each color is a different performance level. Green ($527) is the one you want. I suggest going with a cheaper case (NZXT Gamma) which saves you enough money to upgrade to the Core i3 2120.

A Dual-Core Sandy Bridge Pentium G860 beats a cheap AMD processor for gaming, although I recommend getting an i3 if possible.

Your other option in this price range is buying a used gaming computer- if someone is selling a rig that cost them $650-$800 a couple years ago, you might find a deal for around $500.

The built-in APU in AMD's A6/A8 processors does have much better gaming performance than Intel's integrated graphics, but it's still inferior to even a $60 graphics card.

Also, I have no clue if laptop parts are compatible with an actual PC. If so, then I also have 500 gigabites of storage I could also use.

That's not much of a Gaming PC, ASRock isn't a very good gaming motherboard. You would need at least 8gb of Ram for a gaming PC.

You would also want to go with Intel over AMD. I'd go with an ASUS motherboard (either Rampage or Sabertooth) you can't be cheap with a gaming PC.

You can not build a Gaming PC for under $500. At least not a good one.

If you MUST go with AMD, you'd want to go with this:

Processor: AMD FX6300 6 core 3.5ghz ($119)

Gaming Pc for under 500$?

I decided I want to build my own gaming pc from scratch. What would you guys recommend to buy for under 500$? ie(motherboard, processor, ram, videocard, case)

$500 isn't very much to work with in terms of a gaming PC - to be honest you probably need to spend $100 - $150 + just on a graphics card (depending on the type of gaming you do) so now were down to $400. I have a geforce 9800GT which is amazing for the price. If you go a little cheaper (like I did) you can always pick up another down the road and SLI them.

Ram - you could probably pick up 2gb (which is more than enough for the average person) for $50 (personally I would go with ddr3 since it's the newest, might cost a little more, but well worth it).

$300 - $350 left.

Mobo - AMD will be the cheapest route to go for what your getting. I have a Phenom II x4 945 which cost me about $177 after tax, amazing CPU, put probably out of your range.
I would suggest something like this.

With a good CPU cooler you could easily overclock that to 3.6

$200 - $250 left.

Motherboard - assuming you went with my suggestion, you would need a AM3 compatible board, and ddr3 for the newest ram. This is the board I just ordered, for the price, it's a great deal. You'll get AM3, DDR3, SLI options, HDMI, etc..

Now were down to about $150

You still need a case, dvd drive, and power supply... I have an Antec 300 which cost me $50. I love it, now window, but you can always mod it if that's the stuff your into.

Power supply, I would go at least 750w, I think I spent about $70 for mine, just shop around.. Dvd drives are cheap. www.newegg.com is your friend.

You might want to budget yourself a little higher, so you get a bigger bang for your buck. Good luck

most average desktop pc's usually have a somewhat decent graphics card. alienware computers are really good on gaming pc's, and there should be a few computers for a little bit more or less than your 500 limit.

1 requirement DESKTOP it doesn't matter if you've got a laptop with 2 gigs of ram if its a gaming PC gaming is going to be done at home right? and plus laptops have all sorts of overheating problems. desktops also can be customized to your liking.

2 avoid Intel like the plague their CPU's are way overpriced and don't have enough power

3 build your own. it will cost you about 200 dollars less (and you can brag that you are super smart noways people are too lazy to learn)

i recommend 2 gigs of ram an amd athlon 2 x2 240 dual core processor (just make shore your motherboard has an am3 slot and chose your own video card (i recommend a nivida) and don't go for the ones that are cheap chose one that is medium priced

There is no way you can build a 'gaming' computer with $500. Have a budget of 800+ and something is possible.

MW2, BF:BC2, MW3, BF3, NFSHP... none of these games will be high quality enough to play.

It is most certainly possible to build a gaming PC with a budget of $500, but you'd need to have a few things before you get started. Well, one major thing actually: a PC that has a dual-core processor with at least 2.5GHz processing speed. The reason for this CPU speed is that most games will ask for something along the lines of 2.2GHz or higher (games released from 2005-present).

Then all you'd need to do is purchase a new graphics card, a new power supply to make sure the graphics card doesn't die out on your for lack of power, and I'd also recommend you increase the amount of RAM on the PC. RAM will be limited by the motherboard and operating system you have. A 32-bit OS will support up to 4GB while a 64-bit OS can take advantage of more. Be sure that the new RAM sticks you get are of the same frequency as the ones you'll be replacing, you'll save yourself a lot of headaches if you take this precaution.

My recommendation for the new graphics card would be something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150448 or better if you can afford it. To provide the power for this new sucker and the rest of the PC you'll need a new power supply, something along the lines of this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194085

The RAM upgrade will the most economic of all upgrades, keep in mind that you can choose whatever brand you want but know that Kingston comes really highly recommended. With these upgrades you should be able to run some of the newer games at decent, but not ultra, settings.

At such a low price, you're looking at either upgrading a low-cost starting computer, or getting something used from Ebay.

Keep in mind a decent graphics card costs at least £80... Windows 7 is £70 by itself.
