I use Logitech surround sound speakers, the z-5500, powerful and perfect for gaming.

The Logitech G11 keyboard, backlit blue, its way cool, and has 16 programmable keys.

Mass Effect (GREAT cinematics)
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Crysis still looks amazing
And Burnout Paradise are all great looking games for the PC.

I use a Samsung TOC 22" monitor, super bright and amazing response time.

Should I get a gaming PC or the PS4?

Okay so I am saving my money right now and I'm not sure if I should get a gaming PC ($1000 in total with a GTX 660ti graphics card) or just wait for the PS4. I do like to play games solo, but you can beat the experience of playing splitscreen games with the buds by your side. The PS4 will only be $400, and the graphics in the games showcased at E3 look brilliant, but I also know that the $400 system will still not be able to compete with the graphic possibilities on a gaming PC.

I do like MMOs, and the PS4 will be able to play them. There will also by PS4 exclusive games that I like and wouldn't be able to play on the PC (White Knight Chronicles on the PS3 is a prime example).

So, basically I guess what I'm asking is if the $600 difference would be worth it in getting a gaming rig. Just let me know what you all think.

Gaming PC hands down...
I've been a lifelong gamer and started out with consoles. I have been a PC Gamer for the better part of a decade or more. I believe the pros of PC gaming outweigh the cons.

The Pros of PC gaming:
Your game library is always transferable and always backwards compatible.
KBD and Mouse control for First Person Shooters is vastly superior than a controller
PCs support far more peripherals and accessories. This includes adapters to use console controllers.
Easier/better game modding capabilities.
As hardware improves PCs can be upgraded to take advantage. Consoles are the latest and greatest for about two years. Then they pale in comparison to the performance of PCs once again.
Less restrictive game licensing. There is some pressure to add restrictions but consoles are becoming very restrictive in regards to game licensing.

Cons of PC gaming:
Consoles sport better graphics and performance for the first couple years.
Consoles are much easier to setup and use, although PCs have come a long way to close this gap.
Some games are not released for PC and are console only. Red Dead Redemption is an example.
That's about it...


Like I said, in my opinion, PC gaming has more benefits and perks than console. Once you get to the end of a consoles life-cycle. Like 360 and ps3 now, the graphics really look quite poor. I have a hard time understanding how someone could drop $60-$70 on a game that looks like shit compared to the same game on a PC and is much harder to control. Latest Black Ops is a good example. Console graphics look pretty poor after a couple years when compared to PC. People like to say after they get so good it doesn't matter anymore but they say that every time and it always still matters once you see how much better something can look.

How much would a PC as powerful as a PS3 cost?

Finally got tired of the garbage games coming out on the PS3. I am now looking into replacing it with a gaming PC with equal or greater capabilities. I don't need a supercomputer to play Battlefield 3 on its maximum settings, however I would like to be able to play some of the more up-to-date titles.

If someone could give me links to specific computers that would be affordable and be able to match the PS3. Or link me to specific parts that are equivalent to or greater than the PS3's, I would be most greatful. Thanks.

If you simply want to replicate the PS3, you might shell about a couple of hundred dollars. Take note that this does not include a monitor, a keyboard, mouse, and an operating system.

However, I strongly advise you in building that gaming system. Such rig wont handle current and future PC games.

A decent gaming PC might cost 400 dollars if you build it (this includes extra peripherals like the Operating System and monitor). If youre buying a pre-built, expect to pay more. Upgrading your current PC's cost depends on how old your system is.

Yes, it would be expensive. The advantages, of course, of getting a gaming PC is it's multi-tasking flexibility.

HOWEVER, if you already have a computer and a gaming console, I recommend you stick with the PS3 for some time if youre not willing to shell that cash.

What parts should I replace on my Gaming PC?
My PC can still play up to date games, but I feel that it's falling behind a bit since I used to be able to play games on their very highest graphical setting. Since a new generation of consoles is coming out, I can only assume that graphics will take a big leap forward. So I ask, what parts on my PC should I replace to keep it up to date with the highest graphic games? My specks are:



CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz

RAM: 8.00GB

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series

HDD: 1TB

OS: Windows 7 x64 Home Premium.

Note:
-I only intend to play games, not record, video edit or photo edit, just games.
-My budget is about 400 dollars but I'm willing to spend more if necessary.

2) Unless your doing active rendering, than your CPU is fine.

3) Nvidia cards are horrendous unless you only play FPS games(The way the rendering occurs).

4) Id suggest either:
________________
A) getting gaming peripherals(Mice, keyboards, etc - id suggest RAZER)
B) Getting another graphics card(6850 or 6870 depending on what you have) and set them up in a CROSSFIRE configuration.
C) Add Screens for AMD HydraVision.
D) Add Disk Drives if you know what your doing.

^ or a mix of the above.

How do I swap to my GPU card from dedicated graphics?

I purchased a custom made gaming PC and when I plug the VGA output on the dedicated graphics card the screen stays black and it doesn't work, but when I plug into the motherboard VGA it works fine. I've tried updating drivers through Nvidia's website. I am using the GeForce GTS 450. Anyone have any idea's what I'm doing wrong? Maybe the person who made my computer didn't plug the graphics card in right? Thanks.

First I would take out the graphic card and reseat it. Make sure the computer is off and touch something metal to ground yourself before you go in. I am guessing that card uses the 6 pin connector from the power supply. Check that too. If it still does not recognize the card on the restart you might have to go into the BIOS. Do a restart with the cable hooked to the on-board graphics. It varies from computer to computer but to do this I would start tapping Delete at the restart. When you get into the BIOS check for the on-board video card under Integrated Peripherals and disable it. Exit by saving the changes made. It will proceed to boot. Swap the VGA to the 450. You can do this while the computer boots. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

What's the problem with using controllers to play pc games?

People are making a big deal out of it on the internet and I don't know why. Is it becuase the controller offers a possible aiming advantage? I personally find gaming alot easier with the controller, it's easier on my wrists. Also, why get a 360 or ps3 when a relatively new gaming pc gets better graphics? It just doesn't make any sense.

1) Controllers are actually at a DISadvantage, once you got the mouse figured out. In fact, the latest Saitek mouse actually has a "sniper" button that temporarily reduces the sensitivity so you can snipe better (and bazillion other buttons). Try THAT on a controller!

Controllers are essentially "lower common denominator" human interface. It is a LIMITING factor, not a capability.

2) Consoles are virtually painless to setup. Plug it in, and it will work. PC's crash, have compatibility problems, and cost a lot more if you want a decent machine. A PS3 loaded or a similar XB360 is like what? $500 USD? A decent gaming machine WITHOUT monitor is like $1000 USD. More if you want the good peripherals like the G-15 keyboard, the G6 mouse, and so on.

It makes sense, if you consider the OTHER factors.
