Hey guys. I'm just wondering how much it will cost to build a desktop that is perfect for gaming and is capable of running new games on ultra even. I have an ok laptop but I hear that desktops are cheaper for the greater power you get, they have more space for more games and plus I'm told if you don't move around alot it's better to get a desktop anyway. I have a techie friend who takes apart and puts together computers all the time and he says that he can build me a great gaming desktop for 600 bucks so he can but the parts. So does anybody know of any desktops on the market aren't fancy like alienware and cost a bunch but can still run all games on high graphics? Any help is greatly appreciated:)
Also I play alot of MMOs and I figure they have different hardware requirements so I hope that helps

Don't buy alien ware. Once dell bought out the company their computers have not been as great as they once were.

websites like newegg.com and tigerdirect.com offer a variety of parts with cheaper-than-average prices.

you can easily find forums or im sure info on here about a nice combination of parts. they also offer bare-bone packages on most sites that will get you set up and ready to go, or if you have the cash, nice gaming packages.

How much does a good quality gaming Desktop cost and what kind is best?

I'm not looking for the top of the line gaming Desktop, just something that can run games like Call of Duty or Counter Strike with no lag without having to change all the game settings. The most I would spend is $1,500. Is that enough to get something respectable?

The best is the one that you build yourself. For $1500 you can play all the latest games if you do this, since you'll be able to use more advanced components for the same price. It's really not difficult and there's countless websites and Youtube videos to guide you.

I wanna get a cheap gaming desktop that comes with the monitor included. I do NOT wanna build my own unless the website will let me choose what I want and they build it for me. My price range is 200-600$ Max I want to be able to run games like Counter strike source on high settings or medium and arma 2

and monitors are extra.

But onto topic. I'd recommend asking someone in your local computer store for something around the price range of $600+ that would be able to run modern games (Call of duty is an example)
