Are any Gaming PC's today comparable to xbox360/ps3?

Is there PC hardware out there that is comparable in performance with xbox360/ ps3?

Would the following processors be on par with the console in terms of performance say if it had the best video card out there and the fastest ram you can find.

1. AMD Phenom x4 980 @ 4GHZ

2. Any Core i7 @ 3.6

How would the above compare to consoles in terms of performance?

If developers made games that utilize more than 4 cores would the performance be on par with consoles?

Gaming PC's would wipe the floor with consoles anyway but the graphics which you haven't mentioned would play a more important role with games.

500gb harddrive
windows 7 home premium
nvidea geforce gt320 1gb

(ive heard that card isnt the best for gaming... someone fill me in?)

your all specs are right to run today games except your graphics card

you will need to buy a graphics card ...

some good card are ati 4350 4650 4670
they are cheap and best
dont buy nvidia card buy ati

I just bought fallout 3 for the pc today, and whenever I try to start a new game, it crashes. Could I return it to best buy?

NO. If it was an Xbox 360, PS3, or Wii game, then yes, but PC games cannot be returned because they use one-time verification codes. It is to prevent someone from installing the game and returning it because if they resell it, then the person who buys it would not be able to play, because the code is already in use.

I downloaded adobe reader to my pc. An accelerator was turned on and slows my performance. How do i stop it?

I downloaded Adobe reader(X version) to my pc today. After looking at the site that i needed the reader for, A message appeared saying my pc may perform slower and do i want the accelerator to remain on. I didn't know what to say. I pushed yes. Now i want it off. How do i cut the accelerator off? Will my games (time-management games that are downloaded from reputable sites) perform faster like they did before?

How can I change the graphics settings on FIFA 13 for PC?

Hello. So today I got FIFA 13 for the PC. It runs fine, but the graphics are really pixelated and crappy. I have a really good gaming PC that I just built a couple months ago, so it's not the computer. I can't seem to find an option to change the graphics settings anywhere. How can I do this? Thanks.

Before you actually launch the game when you get the window with options for language and Play, Game Settings, Exit. It's under Game Settings.

I'm pondering if I should buy a gaming PC or buy the new ps4 or xbox 720. One thing i'm really sick of hearing is that pc is better for gaming than either of the consoles because of the capabilities and graphics. Is this true? What should I do?

This is true. You should build a gaming PC. See PS4 has an APU meaning CPU and GPU in one unit. It has mid-range CPU and it is a mobile CPU meaning low performance and it is gonna have performance some where between 7850M and 7870M which is still slower than todays modern PC. Go and get a PC. PS4 to have 8GB of ram but todays PC has 16-32 GB of Ram. PC you can always upgrade as new parts come out whereas in consoles you are stuck with the same hardware for 5-6 years. Every game looks better on PC and will look better. Dude please don

Do you have to use a controller to play games on the PC?

Hey guys, so i bought a gaming PC today and havemt got any games yet. I've downloaded steam and want to get some but i was wondering do you have to use a wired xbox/ps3 controller or is there some way of using a wireless or no controller at all. And also, do you need one for games like, battlefield, tomb raider, fifa 13, farcry, call of duty? Thanks!

You don't have to use one no. You can if you wish use either a wired or wireless controller (including Xbox 360 and PS3 controllers though wireless adapters would be required). A keyboard and mouse is all you really need though.

A lot of games support a controller despite a poster above claiming only a few do, in fact most new games automatically support the Xbox 360 controller and are designed with the Xbox 360 controller in mind.

Keyboard and Mouse is definitely best when it comes to FPS and RPGs. Other genres are purely a matter of preference though and personally I prefer to use an Xbox 360 controller for some types of games (Driving games and Third Person games such as Assassin's Creed for example)

I got the game for PC today, ordered it used online and I try to enter my serial number but it doesn't let me. Was I ripped off? What do I do?

Heres how you should do this: 1. Look at the code very very carefully and enter the code verryyyy carefully until you are ABSOLUTELY sure it is a dud, because you may have missed a number or mistook a certain letter for a number or vise versa.

2. Call Rockstar customer support and ask them about it and tell them you want a new game or a full refund (or whatever company you bought the game from)

3. If 1. And 2. Don't work for some reason you can always just buy the disc for the game at gamestop for dirt cheap (because you already have the case and instructions you won't need the game and box.

4. This is the easiest, but don't even think of doin it unless no other options work. You can pirate the game. It is illegal, but entirely ethically right since you bought the game but weren't able to use it. Im not suggesting this, but it is another option.
