Help with gaming pc!?

Juan camil

Hello.
I have a simple question, I want to buy a new gaming computer and I have around 1000 dollars for the pc, but I don't know if I should order a custom computer in webpages like Cyberpowerpc, Ibuypower and others or buy my own pc components on amazon and build it, but I have no experience doing that and I don't know if it is worth to buy the components and build it my self.

Answer
Well, building a computer is a lot easier than you'd think if you take a little time to learn the basics. It is definitely worth it to build it yourself.
Why?
- You'll learn about the parts of a computer and how to build one.
- You'll be able to spend your money on better hardware than you get with a pre built.
- Generally, even pre built computers advertised for gaming have low-mid end graphics cards that do not max newer modern games. So they will run but not always the smoothest or with the best visuals.

So here's what you should look into watching to get a good idea of everything first:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIXAtNGGCw (The Basics of parts)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_56kyib-Ls (How to build)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWsYKW-dRXU (A different, shorter how to build video)

NeweggTV has great videos! However, there are tons of other good videos on YouTube that can teach you everything you need to know. And there are lots of places online like Computer forum boards where people can answer any questions you may have.

This all may seem overwhelming but it is definitely worth it in the end, believe me.

Now here is a gaming build that I listed for your budget:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bOc5

A few points:

- If you already have Windows 7 64-bit use that extra $100 to upgrade to a 7970 graphics card.

-You don't have to buy from these vendors, it's just a list but I do suggest shopping where it's cheapest. For example: Amazon usually has Hard Drives and DVD Drives cheaper than Newegg, etc.

-For a DVD drive you don't have to get exactly what I listed just get what is cheapest from where you're buying ($17-18 Lite-On, Sony, Asus, it's all good)

Video Card brand typically doesn't matter either, what matters is the numbers, ex) 7850. Just see which is the cheapest and still has good reviews.

I know this is long dude, but I hope this helps

If I order a PC Game via Amazon...?

Daryl JP

If I order a PC Game via Amazon.co.uk and nobody is there to pick it up, will they post it through my door or leave me a note to pick it up?

Answer
One PC game they will post straight through the door. It only needs to be signed for when you order multiple items that would not fit through the door.

should i buy this gaming pc from amazon?

Conor

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A6S3CAQ/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers
It has got a lot of positive reviews, so should i buy it?
It has really good specs

Answer
It should handle most games. You may want a more powerful graphics card or bump the ram up to 16gb, but unless you want just the best possible stats it wont matter. Plus all that can be changed later on. The power supply worries me a little but again can be replaced if you upgrade it later on.

How does the amazon pc game download service work?

Notyap11

I've been noticing that you can download pc games off amazon. How does this work? Do you download a product key for steam or does amazon have its own multiplayer servers?

Answer
well, based on the link below; u would install the amazon installer and u would own the game. u can download as many times as u like and don't need to have a constant internet connection (can play offline like steam and origin). Just kinda sux u gotta dl another install utility. I already hav origin (bcuz of BF3) and steam but mass effect 2 for 5bucks is really tempting. I can wait for it to go on sale on steam but who knows if it will since steam and EA like to disagree. ME2 on origin is currently 10 bucks. so amazon's clearly the bettr deal.
As far as servers, I'm sure amazon doesn't have it's own. That's always based on the game just like steam doesn't hav its own servers. They simply provide the means to download the game. If it's a valid multiplayer game you'll b able to play online like usual.
K just bit n bot ME2. looks like u run the installer and then dl the game. also just found 2nd link below. Not sure if the amazon installer stays on ur pc after dl. Doesn't look like it does because ur running the installer not saving it to ur pc.

i have been searching for a gaming pc for a while now and i need help on which one is the best. i realize it is based on your opinions but i would like to know what is the best for you and see if it matches to what i need. i have a budget of $2000 but i can add about 300 to it. i need to know what the specs are and how long it would take to ship or where i can buy it locally

Answer
The gaming pc does not have to be $2000. The ibuypower gamer supreme will be more than enough for the above average user and it costs less than $1630. You will have more than enough money saved to buy all the games you want.

Would you recommend downloading PC games from Amazon?

Kelsey

I have been looking at Sims 3 games on Amazon, and I noticed that all of the PC downloads are usually much cheaper than used copies of the games. Have any of you ever downloaded games from Amazon? If so, how does it work? Were there any problems? Would you recommend it? Thanks so much for any help!

Answer
Personally i have downloaded about 15 games from amazon with no problems.

Basically when you buy amazon games, it takes you to a list of games you have purchased from amazon, where it has a link to download each game and lists the CD key for each game.

After downloaded you wont have to deal with the download page for that game again until you have a new PC you want it on or you bought another game on amazon.

It works really well, never had a single issue with it.

Some games downloaded from amazon link to steam after/during install.

Where is the best place to buy pc parts?

Liam

I know Amazon is a great place. Please do not say eBay, as their customer support is rubbish and 1/3 of their items for sale are knock off. I live in United Kingdom, and I am planning on building a gaming pc. I know what parts I want to but, but what I don't know is where to buy them. The prices for the parts on Amazon are good, not amazing but good. I looked on Newegg and their price is outstanding, only they don't ship internationally.

Could anyone recommend a place to buy pc parts, please? Thanks in advance.

P.S only recommend if you have been their before, thanks.

Answer
I build Gaming desktops and get all my parts from Nova tech its just down the road from me and they are good price wise with quality parts .

How do you store money online for later use on Amazon?

Well, you see, Amazon isn't compatible with Paypal. Over the next few months, I want to save money on the internet from excess funds until I have enough to purchase a pre-built Gaming PC from Amazon. If I save it as money sitting right next to me, I'm afraid I might just spend it anyways because it's there. If it's stored online until I need it, I can keep myself from being tempted.

So basically what would be neat if there was some way that I could save money in an account until I need it and when I have saved enough, use a pre-paid card to purchase what I want.

Answer
Yeah, it's called a bank.

Or get some will power and don't spend it.

How do i convince my parents to get me a new computer for my birthday?

Okay my birthday is next week and i want a new computer.
The computer i have right now is kind of slow...I need a faster computer for me to play pc games.

I'm planning to order a gaming pc from amazon.com

I don't think my parents will let me buy a new computer as long as the computer i have right now is still running. They think it's too expensive to buy a new computer for me.

Please Help!!

Answer
I never had a computer till I could buy my own. Gaming is a luxury not a right. You can always ask though. Good luck!

How many watts of power will I need for my gaming computer?

Dope

This summer I plan on building my own gaming PC and assembling it at home because it is cheaper and I like to customize things myself. It is an 850 dollar computer but the specs are exceptional. For the motherboard and processor, I am following a YouTube tutorial. In the YouTube video it says only 500 watts of power are needed, but in the comment section somebody (who was picked for best answer) claims that you actually need at least 630. I am planning on getting a 750 watt battery anyways, but if I don't need to, I'll try and get something cheaper. So how much power will I need based on this setup:

Answer
500W (or greater) power supply with one 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connector recommended

http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/7000/7850/Pages/radeon-7850.aspx#2

Thus, for a system with a single HD7850, a good branded 600W PSU is the ideal one to get and since your mobo does not support crossfire, then that 750W is too much for that build since Xfire is already not possible.

BTW, for Xfire, amd recommends 600W minimum, thus 700W is the ideal one to have (just an added info).
