Is pc gaming dead? will it ever die? or is it growing?

Matthew

Pc gaming(which i love) doesnt see as many games or users as consoles. does this mean its dying? or simply that the consoles are growing faster then pc? will pc take over once console become like mini pcs? or is pc gaming gonna fizzle out in the next couple years? or is pc gaming not threatend at all by console gaming?

Answer
PC gaming will never truly die; its a platform that is constantly changing to meet the demands of the gaming world. I dunno what the other guy was talkin about, you can plug controllers into a PC, you can put a Bluray player in a computer as well and as far as graphics processing the computer is FAR more capable than any console oh and you can play games online as well. As long as there are games there will be PC gaming.

Also try playing an RTS without a keyboard and mouse and that alone is one reason why PC gaming will stick around.

i plan to buy a new gaming PC but not sure Wat brand i only want to spend about 700 to 950 usd and i need 1 tat can be uprated in the futher

Answer
Put together something on newegg real quick, it's upgradeable and packs a lot of oomph for right now, total cost is $768.92 plus shipping. You will need to add a couple SATA cables and fans.

Specs:
LITE-ON CD/DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model iHAS124-04 - $18.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289
It's a DVD burner. Gotta have one. Don't bother breaking the bank with it. For a future upgrade, might want to purchase a Blu-Ray drive.

COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP Black SECC/ ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $59.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119137
It's big, it's roomy, it looks nice. It has two fans with it already, and spots for two more. And it's cheap. What else can I say?

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive $59.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148433
1TB of space. Plenty of space to store your games and movies.

MSI 870A-G54 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard $89.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130275
Supports crossfire, has two PCI-E 2.0 slots, and a spare PCI-E slot for a TV tuner card or whatever you want. Has USB 3.0. And has 6 SATA ports. So even if you manage to fill up one hard drive, you can always plug in more.

SAPPHIRE 100283-3L Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card $149.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102873
This bad boy is meant for playing games at 1080P resolution, and should handle pretty much every game made at maxed out resolutions. But what about future games? Crossfire it with another 5770 later on, and you'll get an instant 2x boost in frames per second and will be good for years to come, and it won't break the bank upgrading.

CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 $89.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005
You want something reliable to keep your system powered. This is crossfire certified. So you know it can handle the load of twin graphics cards if you ever need to.

A-DATA 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model AD3U1333B2G9-DRH $89.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211364
4GB is more than enough for any game right now. Once there is a need for more ram, the motherboard has two spare DDR3 slots so upgrading is easy.

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT55TFBGRBOX $199.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103851
This puppy dynamically overclocks itself to 3.2ghz depending on what you need, however other people have overclocked this to 4Ghz. While the i5/i7 series might outdo the Phenom series on a clock per clock basis, the difference is minute. 6 cores means you shred through music and movie encoding and your computer can handle far more than you would.

I was wondering what the best PC game is.

Answer
Games also have their Genre. If you can change the question then mention which one you want to know. Like FPS, RPG, Strategic, etc

For me Call of Duty Series in FPS and Skyrim/Mafia 2 in RPG.

Which is the best pc game ever???

Tejas

Only PC games..

Answer
The best PC game of all time is Diablo. But personally I think it sucks butt. I would say, Unreal Tournament is the best FPS, then Half Life. Check here : http://www.gamespot.com/games.html?type=top_rated&platform=5&sort=score&page_type=games&dlx_type=all&date_filter=all&sortdir=asc for the true listings.

$2 a game. At most $5. Your looking at about $10-$30 for all your games.

Should I buy a gaming pc in parts or all at once?

Jose

I'm trying to build a gaming PC that's around $1400.00. I'm on a tight budget so i was thinking i could buy it in parts. This would allow me to splurge a little on better parts. Problem is the return policy is only good for 30 days so if something's broken, I've just got a bunch of expensive paper weights lying around. This is my first time doing this and I'm curious as to how it's normally done. Any suggestions?

Answer
$1400 isn't a "tight" budget for a gaming PC. In fact, I would consider a budget over $1k quite roomy. A common midrange build goes for around $750. The tightest budget gaming build I ever worked on was ~$500.

So with $1400, buy it all at once. There is absolutely no reason to do otherwise.

Here's a ~$1200 build:
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=17385591

Note that there's enough extra budget space to a combo of any of the following:
>SSD, Bigger case, higher end motherboard, water cooling, more RAM, bigger HDD, or better GPU (though the GTX 670 is already the second fastest single-GPU card on the market).

How difficult is it to build your own gaming computer?

e

I can't afford to buy a gaming pc. But I can afford to build it myself. But I have no experience and no knowledge what so ever of how to do it. So, I'm wondering if it would be a bad idea. How safe is it really? I;m scared I'll wreck it.

Answer
In general cases, it is extremely safe if you know what you are doing. I will design one for you on a budget right now, if you like. Just give me a price range and what you're looking to do with it.

We at AA Computers design and build custom computers depending on the customer's needs. Since you're building this one yourself, I'm just going to give you the links and you can buy the parts yourself.

I will advise, however, that if you are building a computer for the first time, read the rules on proper electronics handling. Static electricity is a big killer in electronics these days.

So, what's your price range?

What is the best rts pc game ever that is very popular and is available right now?

What is the best rts pc game ever that is very popular and is available right now?

Answer
It depends on the definition of 'best ever', so let not go that way.
Anyway, some good (and popular RTS) games are:

- Age of Empires III: (2005) Set in the pre modern era, and with some very good improvements over its predecessors. You're computer will probably be able to run this. (NOTE: You may want to tweak the options, to enable stances etc. if you do get this game)

Consider Asian Dynasties (October 2007) or WarChief (2006) expansion packs, they're excellent, and add a lot to the original, completely revolutionizing AOE.

-Company of Heroes (January 2007): World War II based RTS game. Its got everything needed by an excellent RTS game.

If you do get Company of Heroes, consider Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, a very well made expansion pack released in September 2007.

-Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (June 2007) An awesome addition to C&C. An expansion pack is on the way.

-World in Conflict (October 2007): Set in a fictional World War III, in 1989. It has more modern weapons than the above RTS games, and amazing graphics. Its an excellent RTS game.

They have all recieved excellent reviews from video game websites and magazines, as well as players. They are extremely popular. You'll especially enjoy World in Conflict online, as players team up and take up different roles in an army (aerial, vehicle and infantry forces).

Universe at War's coming out, but I reckon its stupid and you probably won't like it.

-System Requirements:

World in Conflict: Minimum System Requirements, use this as a base for other games... Age of Empires requires less power.

(Better configuration recommended for better gameplay).
* OS: Windows XP, Vista (32-bit)
* CPU: 2.0 Ghz or faster (2.2 GHz for Vista)
* RAM: 512 MB (1 GB for Vista)
* Disc Drive: DVD
* Hard Drive: 9 GB or more free space
* Video: 128 MB video RAM, DirectX 9.0c compatible
* Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
* Input: Keyboard and mouse
* Internet play: Cable, DSL or better
* Note: ATI Radeon 8500, 9200 and NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX not supported.

What is the most expensive video game ever made?

miriamleo

From what I heard, the most expensive game ever created was Shenmue for the Sega Dreamcast, it was also the game that killed Sega as a console maker. I am not sure about this, just want some confirmation.

Answer
Can't really tell you.. there's not a lot of hard facts that Game A cost X to build.. but I know that Horizons (an MMORPG) for the PC had a $10,000,000 budget to start with.. and they got more from investors before the game was released.

MMO's are going to be close to you #1 spots in terms of expense to build
