I found out some kids, and unfortunately one was my own, has been to some sites that are horrible! I don't venture far from here or playing a few games on pogo, and occasionally use google. I didn't know you could see some of the crap I seen when I checked out these mysterious links in my history. It was unbelievable!!! He is now on restriction from ANY computer except the schools till I figure out something, but I have no idea where to even begin! Links to items would be nice too if you have any. Thanks.
I do feel all the blame for this, I do agree it was my job to gaurd this. I also understand they do this stuff at this age. I had him on a pedistal my hubs just said, he is a very good kids, responsible, great grades, advanced everything, etc..I dont know what i was thinking. It wouldnt be so bad if it was normal pics of a neckade lady or something, but these sites were appoling with EVERYTHING you can think about when you think porn! Im trying to figure out now if this is punishable by such a straight shooter, normally? Does his track record buy him ease or what? Its hard also knowing he is growing up and i know he is curiuos outside what I would teach him. But thanks for all the info, I got a bunch of giberish when i looked things up myself too, so i didnt know what to do and i havent talked to any close freinds for advise yet either, but there going to think he needs leeway because hes a good kid i think so i think it will be bios on their part too. ty everyone

You might try calling the school or the local library and ask what kind of software they recommend for home use. Their computer system probably uses business-size and business-price software for blocking websites, which you won't want.
It is important to restrict children's access to websites as the malware and crimeware people use all kinds of methods to try to get their software installed on computers. The fewer places children go, the less likely you'll get hit with software you don't want on the computer.
Also, if you have a router, you can program it to only allow access as you wish, but it is not trivial doing the programming.
Meanwhile:
I tried finding information on Wikipedia but found nothing useful, too much of the information is aimed at programmer interests, Information Technology professional interests, or polite rants. Nothing that would directly help a parent, not even a list of software that a parent could afford to use. I suspect someone is censoring that kind of information, as there were rants about "censorship" in places. But parents have the absolute right to control what children do with computers on the Internet, especially with all the malware / crimeware out there.
CyberPatrol, CyberSitter, Netnanny, and Webroot are programs that have been around for a long time.

I know the (Austin Texas) Frys store carries the Webroot Parental Control software because I saw it on the shelf Sunday (Feb 8, 2009).
Personally, I want to purchase my first anti-malware software version in a box, because I can then install it from the CD or DVD at any time. I also like to see the box on a bookshelf. A download from a website might get compromised by malware already on a computer.

im running the windows on bootcamp, ill partition about 5 to 8gb of my macs memory to windows so i can play games, thats all i need it for, GAMES. I can play most games on a mac now but there are a few that id like to play. if i dont browse on different sites, aside from the downloading of the game sites, what are the chances of me getting a virus? i dont want to install an anti virus since i dont have one on my mac and it still works like brand new, but with a windows? and if i do get a virus, will the mac part get affected? and last, if id like to delete the windows now, how do i do it? just drag it to trash?

First, you need anti-virus software - download, install and update AVG anti-virus (it's free for personal use) - you can find it here - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
Then remove your System Restore points (viruses love to hide in the System Restore files), but be aware that if you do remove your existing Restore Points you will not be able to "roll back" your computer to a previous configuration. Just to be sure you don't have other malware on your computer I recommend that you download SpyBot Search & Destroy and Adware - both are free spyware/adware detection and removal software.

Using AVG - run a full system virus scan while in Safe Mode

CCleaner does not specialise in cleaning the registry, it's mostly used to speed up your computer by cleaning up your recycle bin, temp files/internet files, browsing history, application errors, log files and so on.. which frees up some space in your harddisk

Free Windows Registry Repair(first one) - rather effective, the first scan i did after about a year showed over 500 problems with the registry, fixed them all
RegSeeker(2nd one) - fixed another 300 problems after using the previous one.
and like the two of them said, Eusing Free Registry Cleaner and Abexo Free Registry Cleaner(30 day trial)
Just run them all that'll fix most problems! But dont expect 100% fixes because programs might recreate registry entries when used and so a second scan might still show the same few errors. (ignore such errors)
