The parts for my pc will be arriving soon. I just want to know, once it's built, what are some of the responsibilities I'll have to make sure it's in tip-top shape. I know about the eventual upgrade with parts like graphic cards and updating nvidia drivers but what else is there? Do I have to open up my pc every once in a while to clean it up, if so how many times a month? Any help and suggestions would be appreciated to making sure my pc goes strong.

Answer
Well, I'm not a tech junkie, but having a computer does take some responsibility. For instance some times your registry files, broken shortcuts, your hard drive being fragmented can get in the way for a better preforming PC. Also the computer is not like a console so viruses can tend to creep in and destroy your precious computer.

For virus protection, hacking protection, etc. I would get AVG which should be here:
http://www.avg.com/us-en/free-antivirus-download

Of course I pay for AVG for protection, but even if it free it can protect you from many, many threats that Norton couldn't.

To boost the speed of your PC and get rid of unnecessary files you can get the program here, but it does cost money:
http://www.avg.com/us-en/avg-pctuneup

Of course most of the things that can clean up your PC and get rid of unnecessary files can be cleaned up by going to your computer 's hard drive by "optimizing" it, "Clean up," and "Format" it.

However with AVG PC tune up, it will clean your computer every so often when you don't even know it, giving you a fast computer everyday.

I would also recommend you using mozilla firefox as well because it is faster than internet explorer and will not often give "not responding" messages. Here is the link to get it:
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

For most videos and other stuff to watch on websites, adobe flash player is a great way to watch videos with high quality, and has the best plug ins as well:
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

You can download stuff on to your computer through this program, buy games really cheap when on sale, stay connected to friends more easily, and some games require you to download this as well:
http://store.steampowered.com/

It is also good to keep updating your computer to the latest versions on every program you have installed. Of course if you will get a windows 8 for your computer or windows 7, you can set your computer to update itself every time there is a new update. If you don't update your current files to the latest version, you are at risk for your PC to slow down, but that is pretty much it I can tell you.

Hope that helps. :D

How do I run game maps faster on pc?

David

I like to play some games on the pc instead of a console but i have a crappy pc. Some games that i play are newer games so they require a better pc to play them. While I can play some games just fine without lag or choppy game play, the maps will take FOREVER to load. I'm thinking about getting RAM (about 2-3 Gig) but will it solve the problem or do i need something else?

Answer
ram is one issue but that's major over kill you can have all the ram in the world but if your graphics card is junk then your just spinning your wheels going no where

ok here is a little secret
if you got 2 hard drives the one where your operating system is leave it be put most things on the other and put in a few page files on your other hard drive page files take some hard drive space and uses it like ram
other things is defrag your computer long story short Winslows has a messy organization system just sorta throws things around on your hard drive so to make it "clean its room" defrag

check to see if you have spyware a free program that does that and has no spyware or anything nasty is spybot d/l it at spybot.com

antivirus do a free scan at Norton'swebsite

and word from the wise on any computer you only need 1 anti spyware program and 1 antivirus program any more is either over kill or your more likely to get a virus by d/ling the "wrong ones" since some of them are indeed actually viruses

and by all means double check what I am saying on your own!
