Which Gaming PC Build is Better?

I am building my first gaming pc and I have come up with 2 possible builds. The problem is, I don't know which one is better. Also, if you find any errors (compatibility issues, etc.) please let me know. These are parts I found on amazon:

Computer #2 is the winner for gaming.

Overall the Core i5 3570K is the more powerful CPU, but that really isn't a factor because both CPUs are strong enough for high-end gaming- neither will be a bottleneck for high-end graphics cards. And it's the graphics card that's most important in gaming builds. In most titles roughly 70% of your in-game fps are determined by your GPU model, not your CPU. And that's where there's a huge disparity- the GTX 770 is even better than the GTX 680!

For video editing it's about a wash- the FX-8350 has more cores which is very beneficial for editing software like Sony Vegas, but the i5 3570K has stronger per-core performance and Intel's quick sync feature which greatly improves transcoding. Anyway they trade off- in some editing tasks the FX--8350 wins, in others the i5 3570K wins. Both are capable, arguably a slight edge to the Core i5. But on the gaming side it's a mismatch because of the GPUs.

O, so I have old computer and I am planning to buy new one!! But on the other side there is PS3 witch's amazing!! I don't know what to do? I found gaming pc for just 280$! Here is PC:

The Last Of Us, Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, Uncharted 1,2,3, Journey, Flowers, Flow(i love ps3 exclusives) and some other games like: Assassin's Creed (1,2,Brotherhood,Revelations,3,4), Tomb Raider (2013), RE6,... and many other games!! But problem "They cost a lot!", I don't have money for big price games! I know It will be more exlusive with ps3 on my Tv with joystick in my hands! But games are so good and so expensive!! But I never had any console!! Love ps3!

Now! Do you think this PC is powerfull for those games like: AC, Tomb Raider, Deadpool and more...
Also I think maby I should get PC because of this:(PC exclusives!)
Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs(love horror games), Among the sleep, Slender, Penumbra, and more indie horror games..
That is what I like about PC, you can always get some amnesia mods, new indie horror games(all of them are free)! And Pc games are more cheaper than Ps3 games! But PS3 is more exclusive!

It's a tough call. I game on both a pc and a 360 (never been a big PlayStation fan, but that's just a matter of taste; it's a fine console), and I wouldn't say one is better than the other. HOWEVER. With the PS4 coming out soonish, I'd say to go with the PC. The hardware in PCs now is more advanced than that in consoles (the PS3 came out when?), and it's not terribly difficult or expensive to upgrade your graphics card in a year or two, or to otherwise improve your computer's performance.

So, in this case, I think you're probably better off going with the PC.

video game graphics peaked?

I've been noticing that the graphics of the newer games are the same, have they finally ran out of ideas? like how cod black ops looks the same as the new elder scrolls skyrim. has anyone ever heard of octrees? why have they never used those before?
good points, i'm just saying, if they were to make the new xbox successor in 2015 use octrees, that would be fu**ing amazing, you could put so much in to that little disk of theirs. and are they still going to use disks? or are they just going to put all of it on the cloud?

The main reason game graphics seem to have halted somewhat at the moment is because developers usually aim games at consoles, as that's where they sell best. Even multi platform games where the primary platform is pc like battlefield 3 need to run well on consoles, and for this reason, at the moment developers are limited by console hardware. They've simply pushed Xbox 360 and PS3 to their limits and beyond what they thought they were capable of. We won't see better graphics in games until the next generation of consoles come out, which will most likely happen between Q4 2013 and Q4 2015

Is the Precision T1650 a good gaming computer?

More specifically, I have the option to purchase one (the build with 8 gigs of RAM and 500 gig hard drive ->) for about $200 secondhand. I am currently saving up to purchase the Tom's Hardware Q1 2013 $600 gaming PC build. Games I will want to play include heavily modded Minecraft, Skyrim, World of Tanks, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead 2. Which is the better option? Why or why not?

No.
For gaming the tomshardware computer is much better.
1. The i5 cpu is a slightly better gaming cpu. The xeon is a better all purpose cpu for intensive computing.

2. The Graphics card is much better in the tomshardware computer. See the link. 841 vs 18

3. I would increase the ram to 8 GB in tomshardware computer.

4. I would trust tomshardware for info over dell.

For gaming it is all about the graphics card and ram. Google for "how to build best gaming computer" and you will see what I mean.

Yes that upgrade is fine. Motherboards which support Core i3/i5/i7 processor (even first generation) are compatible with all PCI-E x16 cards on the market.

However unless you're getting some amazing deal, the HD 7970 isn't the best value any more. The new GeForce GTX 770 costs $400 and outperforms the older GTX 680 and HD 7970 Ghz edition.

How do I build/customize/modify my laptop for gaming?

I want a gaming laptop but they cost no less than $1000 and my dad says he will only pay $500 and i would have to pay the rest, but I don't have more than $400 so...
I want to build or customize or modify my laptop when I get one (probably in a month) so I would probably buy a $500 or $600 laptop with a decent system.

Should I buy the PS3, upgrade my pc or wait for the PS4?

I will have saved enough money by august 2013 to buy a PS3 or upgrade my PC. If I buy PS3, I can only play it for 3-4 years and if I upgrade my PC, I can play many games on it but not all games come to the PC. If I wait for the PS4, then the games I really would like to play now on PS3 would be gone.Please help me choose.

sony have stated that they will keep supporting the ps3 till atleast 2015 which does indicate that the ps4 will be released sooner than later and even game devs have been saying that they have got the hardware of the ps4 so they are able to start making games for the console now and have them ready when the console gets released

i also think the ps4 will be shown at next years E3 or just before and released in japan late 2013 and everywhere else 2014 ,

Being at 62 maybe not into gaming but want something to do multi-tasking and office will run well on it , now if have grand kids they like to play games on it can upgrade the psu to 600 watt and a good amd or nvida graphic card that's later on if thinking about doing it but that is great go for it, way more than enough for the task you perform on it

In the past, the answer to this question was easy: GRAPHICS.

PC graphics can continue to march forward with ever more impressive hardware optimizations, higher resolutions, better physics, etc. However consoles are going to have a much tougher time of it. Sure with this generation we saw the jump to HD, or at least 720p@30fps. However the next batch of consoles should have no problem with 1080p@60fps which is the maximum any HDTV is capable of producing. Even 3D won't be a problem for these consoles - if they decide to support it.

Really the only direction left is better physics, and better textures. However these are going to seem more like minor bumps vs. the huge leaps we've been used to. It might also mean consoles will come out less frequently - no need to upgrade as frequently.

The 360, for instance, will turn 7 later this year and while Microsoft is working on a new console we probably won't see it on shelves until 2013 at the earliest - nearly 9 years after the 360 came out.

Since I have learned the BASIC things in choosing a right processor from my friend that when you buy a processor you should always base the number of cores, theads, cache and the frequency speed.

Now, what I want to learn is that I wanna know what are the tips in buying Video Card, what are the things should I base before buying Video Card? Because I heard from other people that when I buy a Video Card the Video Memory must be bigger to have a GREAT VIDEO CARD. Now, I have found out this Leaflets from the computer store there is different Video Cards here like GT and GTX and I saw that GTX are more expensive? Why is that? Also, with this let me state an example:
- GF 210 1GB 64BIT DDR3 - 1,200 pesos
- GF 210 1GB 128BIT DDR3- 1,670 pesos.....
... I saw that there is a difference between the two, the BIT, why does 128BIT is more expensive that 64BIT since their VIDEO Memory is just the same? What's the USE of that BIT? Is that one of the tip in buying Video Card?

Another example:
- GT 630 4GB 128BIT DDR3 - 2,775 pesos
- GTX 650 1GB, 128BIT DDR5 - 4,885 pesos...
In this example....I am so doubtful because why is it that GTX 650 1GB is more expensive that GT 630 since GT 630 has more VIDEO MEMORY because it's 4GB than GTX 650 only 1GB? And I see the difference that GTX650 is DDR5, is that the reason because of "DDR5" GTX650 is more expensive than GT 630?

GT (and even GTS) is the low and regular card class, GTX is the extreme card class.

For gaming and HD video editing, a GTX card is a MUST.
For anything else, any GT or GTS card will do fine.

In all modern nVidia cards, the first digit is the series (generation). The latest is the 600 series for desktop cards, they already released a GT730M for laptops.
The next generation of 700 series will be released this year, people say in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2013....
The second digit is the class, and the 3rd digit is generally zero (0), except for some OEM models and OEM for laptops.
A GTX680 will be better than a GTX670 and so on...
Example of OEM cards: GT635M for some Dell and HP laptops, or GTX555 for Dell Alienware X51 small form factor gaming desktop PC.

The 1GB, 2GB, etc is the amount of GDDR graphics memory on the card.
The generation does play an important role, like GDDR5 is much faster (better) than GDDR3 or DDR3.
The amount of GDDR memory (1GB, 2GB, etc) does not play an important role in the card performance, except when using multiple monitors.
For gaming on a single monitor, 1GB GDDR5 is more than enough, as almost all games will only use well under 1GB.
In your example, the 1GB GTX650 GDDR5 will be a much better card than the 4GB GT630 DDR3.

The 64bit or 128bit or 256bit, etc is the memory interface bandwidth of the card, and is very important in determining the card performance. The higher the bandwidth, the faster the access to the card memory would be.
Gaming cards have 128bit or higher. For best performance in gaming, a 192bit or higher bandwidth is required.

For gaming and video editing, get at least a GTX650 Ti (better than the non-Ti version), or best a GTX660 Ti.

why does my psx emulator game keep freezing?

I'm playing Persona 2: Eternal Punishment on an emulator, and for some reason it doesn't load at a certain spot (it stops loading every time I get to that spot). I keep it on for about 15 minutes and it still doesn't load. Is it just taking a very long time to load, or is it the game/emulator itself that's not working properly? Any advice would be helpful, thank you!

The emulator may have compatibility issues with some games, or even your pc hardware. Try asking in the forum of the emulators official website for more help. Emulation of 32bit hardware is not perfect in 2013. You could always try another emulator or buy a second hand playstation console instead to play your games, providing they are retail bought and not downloaded.

First off, there is almost NO difference between the Core i5 3470 and 3570K in games. You're talking a couple of fps max, that's all. And unless you're overclocking there's no benefit to a K processor. The Core i5 3570 and 3570K have IDENTICAL performance at stock speed.

Since your Core i5 3470 won't be a bottleneck, you'll get the full performance of a Radeon HD 7950 (which is enough to run BF3, Arma 2 and Far cry 3 maxed at 1080p, but not really Crysis 3). Minecraft is trivial, even $75 cards can max that.

You're looking at approximately 60-65fps in BF3 on ultra with MSAA at 1920x1080. Note that the test results below are for 1920x1200 resolution, which is slightly tougher.

Here's Crysis 3 (without AA)... At 1080p the Radeon HD 7950 averages about 43 fps on very high settings, and drops into the 30's at times. Playable but as you can see, that detail level is pushing it. You'd be better off playing on high settings.
